APPLICATION FOR PENSION
To the Honorable County Court of Scott County,
Sitting as a Pension Board:
The undersigned, as an ex-Confederate soldier, hereby applies for a pension under the provisions of an act of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas, entitled "An Act for the
Relief of Certain Soldiers of the late War between the States," approved April 1, 1891, upon the following grounds:
That he is a bona fide citizen of the State of Arkansas, and has resided within this State for more than twelve months next before the filing of this application:
That he enlisted as a soldier in the State of Arkansas during the war between the States in Company "K" of the 22 Regiment of Arkansas Vols. (Inf)
That while in the discharge of his duty as a soldier of said company and regiment in the service of the State of Arkansas, or of the Confederate States of America, he received a
wound, from the effects of which he lost the use of the right foot, the ball striking him just above his right ankle from which he has ever since suffered.
That by reason of said wound and disability he is now indigent and incapacitated for manual labor;
That he is not receiving any aid from this State or from the United States, for such injuries, under any other statute, and that therefore he makes application for relief under
the act aforesaid.

Personally appeared before the undersigned Clerk Circuit Court, on this day W.P. Forrester who being duly sworn with reference to claim of John A. Oxford applicant for pension as an
ex Confederate soldier Co. "K", of the 22nd Reg't. of Ark. Infty. Vols. says: That he has been acquainted with said soldier about two years, and during the time have noticed him
limping in his walk and have heard him complain of wound received in right foot while in the aforesaid service and have heard him say that said wound greatly disabled him from
performing manual labor. Have seen the wound which is located just above the right ankle. Soldier complains of said wound paining him a great deal and that he sometimes has to
resort to his crutches. Affiant further states that he has no interest direct or indirect in this claim.

In matter of Pension Claim of John A. Oxford, ex-Confederate soldier Co. K of the 22nd Reg't. Ark. Infty. Vols. Personally appeared before me the undersigned Clerk Circuit Court
said soldier John A. Oxford, who being first duly sworn says:
That the wound he received in the right foot in the aforesaid service almost wholly disables him from performing manual labor and pains him continuously, often to such an extent
that he is compelled to go on crutches. That he cannot conveniently obtain the evidence of comrades for the reason that they live at a distance and some of them are dead. That by
reason of his wound soldier is indigent and disabled from performing manual labor.

complain of said injury giving him pain and have heard him say that said wound greatly disabled him from performing manual labor. Have seen the wound which is located just above his
right ankle. Have noticed said soldier limping in his walk which he states is on account of said wound. Affiant further states that he has no interest direct or indirect in this
claim.

We, James M. Harvey, Judge of the County Court, and L.P. Fuller, Sheriff, and Thomas M. Duncan, County Clerk of Scott County, constituting the Pension Board of said County, by an
Act of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas, approved April 1, 1891, entitled "An Act for the Relief of Certain Soldiers of the late War Between the States," do hereby
certify to the Auditor of the State of Arkansas that upon due examination of the application of John A. Oxford filed under said Act, we find that said claim of said applicant is
just and the same is hereby allowed, the application and proof taken in said case being herewith transmitted. Given under our hands and the Seal of the County Court of Scott
County, on this 22nd day of October, 1891.
