George W. McClain was born about 1845 in Arkansas and died in Hot Springs, AR 4 May 1905. He was a Union soldier in the Civil War, serving in Company E, Third Regiment Arkansas Cavalry. Following the war he married Martha Sarah Ann McLain, daughter of John Lenore and Hannah (Clubb) McLain. They married in Conway Co., AR on 3 August 1865 and were living in Scott Co. by 1870. In the 1870's George and Martha moved to Yell Co., AR to be near her parents.
