MT. MORIAH CEMETERY
Scott County, Arkansas

This cemetery is located southeast of Waldron. From Highway 71B in Waldron, go south to Highway 250. East on 250 about 11 miles; a sign on the right says "Lick Skillet Fox Pen." This is County Road 286; turn right (gravel road) for about 1 mile to a gate where you will enter the fox pen. Go about a quarter mile to the cemetery which is enclosed by a chain link fence.

The tombstones were copied and a digital photograph was made of each stone in September 2003 by Carolyn Hanna with the help of my husband. Anyone wishing a copy of the photograph of their ancestor's tombstone may contact me and I'll be glad to send it via Email. Please put "Mt. Moriah Cemetery Photos" as the subject of your message.

*This tombstone is badly broken and the piece with his first name is missing. Research in Scott County census records leads me to believe this is the stone of Jesse D. Cox, son of James E. Cox and first wife Mary Frances Ferguson.

We did not find the following stones which were listed on previous canvasses of this cemetery during the mid 1970s and in 1993. There are 9 or more flat cement stones on which inscriptions have been painted & many of them are now mostly illegible. Some if not all of the below are likely among these:

James, Infant, No dates, s/o Jesse & Ellen (Listed 1993; not listed 1975/78)
James, Infant, No dates, d/o Dewey & Ruth (Listed 1993; not listed 1975/78)
James, Infant, No dates, s/o Jesse & Ellen (Listed 1993; not listed 1975/78)
James, Jessie Lee, No dates, infant d/o Dewey & Ruth (Listed 1993; not listed 1975/78)
James, Willard D., Mar 1909 - Jun 1910 (Listed 1993; not listed 1975/78)
Terry, Sarah "Sally" James, 1832 - Unknown (Listed 1993; not listed 1975/78)
