Notes:
Benjamin Brown’s month & day of birth are illegible on the stone; his age at date of death calculates to a birth date of 1 Jan 1810

There are eleven stones that have been painted over with some sort of substance in an effort to preserve them. We were unable to read the inscriptions on these. The two Whedbee stones listed above were among these and their family has installed new stones alongside the old ones. There are between 50 and 60 graves marked with rocks.

The following burials at Bush Cemetery for which no tombstones were found are taken from obituaries published in local newspapers:

Brown, Eunice Marie, 21 Feb 1907-30 Jan 1927, D/o Mrs. Lula Brown
Stacks, Omer, d. 8 Feb 1916, age 10 yrs., S/o J.J. Stacks
Stewart, John, d. Feb 1927
Wilson, Infant, d. Mar 1917, S/o Mr. & Mrs. Fate Wilson

From the Waldron News, 3 June 1976:
Old Cemetery To Be Moved

The U.S. Government has approved a court order condemning an old cemetery which is located within the temporary flood pool of site 13 of the Poteau River Watershed Improvement District. The cemetery will be dug up and moved to Bush Cemetery which is located on Ross Creek Road. No date has been set when the graves will be moved. The old cemetery that the Poteau River Watershed wants moved is on the east bank of Denton Creek and the exact number of bodies is not known. After the bodies have been moved the Watershed will clear the land for flood pool site 13.
