STATE OF ARKANSAS}

On this day personally came before the undersigned, a County Judge within and for the County of Scott and State of Arkansas, W.F. Monroe and H.V. Cain, citizens of Harvey and
Gravelly, Arkansas, respectively, whom I certify to be creditable persons and worthy of confidence, who being duly sworn, state that they are each, personally, well acquainted
with applicant Mary E. Cain, widow of J.A. Cain, dec'd., and knew the deceased for 50 years before his death, and have known his widow Mary E. Cain for 41 years, respectively.
That he, said J.A. Cain, was a Confederate soldier. Belonging to Company I Regiment 43 of Ga. Infty. Vols. That as such soldier he served from 1862 to the close of the war in Spring

wages for any services, or the emoluments of an office, in excess of $150 per year. That we have no interest in this claim. That we served in same Company and regiment with said
soldier, and that his widow Mary E. Cain has never remarried since her husband's death.
