We, the undersigned, sitting as a Pension Board for Scott County, do certify that we have examined the application of the within named Martha M. Black for pension, under Act of the
General Assembly of the State of Arkansas, as approved March 11, 1901, and the proof in support of same, and find that said applicant is the widow of a Confederate soldier, is in
indigent circumstances, and that her claim is just, and that she should be allowed $100.00 pension.

WIDOW'S APPLICATION FOR PENSION
STATE OF ARKANSAS}
County of Scott}
I, Martha M. Black do solemnly swear that I am the widow of Wm. D. Black who served as a soldier in the army (or sailor in the navy) of the Confederate States, being a member of
[blank] Regiment of [blank] from the State of Georgia; that he was honorably discharged (paroled or released) from such service on or about the [blank] day of [blank] 186[blank]
and did not desert the same; [line lost in crease of the paper] of this State; that I do not own property, real or personal, or both, or money, or choses in action, in excess of
the value of $400.00 (exclusive of household goods and wearing apparel), nor have I conveyed title to any property to enable me to draw a pension, and that I am not in receipt of
any income, annuity, pension or wages for any services, the emoluments of an office in excess of $150.00 per year; that my said husband died in Scott County, Arkansas on the
22 day of April 1906 and that I have not since remarried, so help me God.

On this day personally came before the undersigned, a Justice of the Peace within and for the County of Scott and State of Ark. L.C. Black [and] Senara McCord citizens of Scott
County, Ark. whom I certify to be credible persons and worthy of confidence, who being duly sworn, state that they were, each, personally well acquainted with applicants' husband
W.D. Black and knew him for 56 years.
That he was a Confederate soldier belonging to Company [blank] Regiment [blank] of [blank].
That as such soldier he served from April 1864 to sometime in 1865. That he was honorably discharged, paroled or released from such service and did not desert the same.
That he is now dead and that his widow has been for the past twelve months a bona-fide resident of Arkansas. That my knowledge of these facts come from my on [sic:own] knowledge
of liven a nabor to her.
That to the best of our knowledge all property owned by her is not worth exceeding $400.00 [one line lost in crease of paper] pension or wages for any services in excess of $150.00
per year. That we have no interest in this claim. That she has not since the death of said husband remarried.

On this day personally came before the undersigned, a Notary Public within and for the County of Faulkner and State of Arkansas David J. Weems, citizen of Faulkner Co., Ark. whom I
certify to be [a] credible person and worthy of confidence, who being duly sworn, states that they were, each, personally well acquainted with applicants' husband Wm. D. Black and
knew him for fifty years.
That he was a Confederate soldier belonging to Company H, Regiment I (I believe) of C.S.A. (Our Col. was not with us much, Robert Saxon was Capt., Maj. Burke was in command nearly all the time.)
That as such soldier he served from April 1864 to May 1865. That he was honorably discharged, paroled or released from such service and did not desert the same.
That he is now dead and that his widow has been for the past twelve months a bona-fide resident of Arkansas. That my knowledge of these facts comes from personal acquaintance
with said soldier while in said service.
That to the best of our knowledge all property owned by her is not worth exceeding $400.00 (exclusive of household goods and wearing apparel). That she is not in receipt of any
income, annuity, pension or wages for any services in excess of $150.00 per year. That we have no interest in this claim. That she has not since the death of said husband remarried.
