From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.

VICTORIA GILBREATH

On December 14, 1894 in Parks, AR, Victoria O. Gilbreath was born to Steve A. & Lulah Thompson. She has spent her entire 86 plus years in Parks. She was married to Luther Milton Gilbreath, deceased, and they had two children, Milton Oden Gilbreath who lives in Fort Smith, AR and Melba Owens who lives in Parks. Mrs. Gilbreath attended Parks grade school and Waldron high school. In 1911 she she was in the 8th grade, she won a county reading contest and the Bank of Waldron awarded her a medal for this, which she still has. Mrs. Gilbreath has been a teacher and housewife and her fondest memories are her experience of teaching at Boles, Keener and Parks and the friendships she has of her former students. She has been active in several organizations, working as officers in County Home Demonstrations Clubs and Scott County Council of HD Clubs. She is a member of the Parks Methodist Church where her church activities have made many memorable moments. A writing on the Methodist Church history by Mrs. Gilbreath is in this paper. Watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up has been a joy to Mrs. Gilbreath. She enjoys sharing fellowship and association with fellow senior citizens at the Senior Citizen Center. Her love of life is abundant.
