From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.

ROY D. SELF

Roy D. Self, Sr. has resided in the Birdsview community for 59 years and in Lone Elm for the 26 prior years. Mr. Self attended school at Lone Elm and Liberty and went into the service in 1917. He is a Methodist & retired farmer. Born November 17, 1894, Mr. Self is now 86. He and his wife, Sadie M. (Kopf) Self have five children: Evaleta Thomas and Pauline Mitchell, both of Hot Springs; Athadean Wier of Springdale; R.D. Self, Jr. and Raymond Self, both of Waldron. Mr. Self commented "Times sure have changed."
