From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.

LEWIS & LUNA THOMPSON

Lewis Thompson and Luna (Leach) Thompson, now deceased, were married in Leta, Arkansas. Mr. Lewis Thompson is 94 and resides in Pinewood Nursing Home. He was born around Leta, Arkansas on February 25, 1887 to Charlie and Eliza Ann (English) Thompson. They had seven children, Mary Anderson of Lubbock, Texas, Helen Hawkins of Waldron, Jack Thompson of Houston, Luther Thompson of Bend, Oregon, Lewis Thompson (a twin) of San Diego, California, Luna Hightower (a twin) of Winnipeg, Canada, and Jean Mannon (deceased). Mr. Thompson came to Scott County in January of 1979 and stayed with Helen Hawkins in Waldron until he was admitted to the nursing home in June of 1980. Mr. Thompson was affiliated with the Nazarene Church. In his younger years, Mr. Thompson was a farmer, and he worked for many years as a night watchman in Pine Bluff at the Arkansas Oak Flooring Mill. This is where he retired at the age of 65.
