From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.

FLORENCE SHANK

Florence (Chittenden) Shank, 80 years of age, has lived in Scott County since 1931. She was born in Atchison, Kansas on April 15, 1900 to George and Tellia (Skanks) Chittenden. Mrs. Shank was married to the late Walter Shank and they have three children - Ruby Lemarr of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Irene Nelson of Washington and Ray Shank of Waldron. She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Waldron. Mrs. Shank was an artist and homemaker. She stated that she came to Arkansas because of it's beauty - mountains, valleys, pine trees and felt it was a beautiful place to raise a family. She further states that the people here are so neighborly, and marvels at their concern for the sick and disabled people. Mrs. Shank resides at Pinewood Nursing Home.
