From a special section of the Waldron News newspaper of 23 April 1981, consisting of interviews of Scott County citizens 80 Years of age and over. The interviews were done as part of a celebration of the Bank of Waldron's 80th anniversary.

ETHEL SELF

Ethel Self was born in Okarche, Oklahoma on November 14, 1897 to John and Emella Sikes. She has lived in Scott County for 17 years. Of this time, she has been in the Greenridge community twelve years and Mt. Pleasant community five years, where she now resides with her husband Arvil Self. Before moving to Arkansas, she lived in Kansas and Oklahoma. In fact, 50 years of her life was spent in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has one son John O. Eppler, who resides in Chuquiah, Alaska. She has been a housewife and a member of the United Methodist Church.
