QRYTEXT: I am searching for information on JOHN SPAIN who lived most of his years near NOLAND. He was buried in some small cemetery near NOLAND I think. I have searched everywhere I can think of and haven't been able to find anything about him. He has a pretty colorful background to wit: JOHN SPAIN was born CROWLEY RIDGE AR Nov 20, 1859, married ELLA PATTERSON of Dutch, Irish descent. She has a half sister OLLIE PATTERSON. She was from Iowa. My grandfather JOHN D SPAIN, was a crown organ and sewing maching salesman and sharecropper. My mother MARY MYRTLE SPAIN, use to accompany him on these trips to demonstrate the organ or sewing machine whichever the case may be. Sometimes they would be gone as long as 2 weeks, until they sold whatever they may have, before returning home. Children of JOHN AND ELLA: MYRTLE MARY, my mother, married SIDNEY BRIMHALL 1914, had 3 children. Ruth, Opal and Russell (me). RAYMOND MAUDE SPAIN, FRITZE OLIVER SPAIN married ROSETTA SEAMANS 1930. JEWEL OSCIOLA EL RENA SPAIN born in Manson AR, married HAROLD LEATHERS divorced, married Arthur Clark and died in Myrtle Point, Oregon. And last, ABIGAIL SPAIN born 11-6-94 died 9-3-95. JOHN SPAIN'S father and mother: W.H. (HARVE) SPAIN served CO K 7TH MO CALVERY CSA born June 6th 1826 died May 1886. PATSOLLIE POPE born June 4, 1828 died Dec. 1886. Both buried Fairview Cemetery Greene Co Ar. Children of HARVE AND PATSOLLIE SPAIN: SPAIN, Elizabeth 11-23-1848 msrried bILL jUSTICE SPAIN, William Thomas Cass 12-7-50 SPAIN, Abagil 3-11-52 SPAIN, Emaline 10-1-53 SPAIN, Sarale 10-11-53 SPAIN, Harriett Tennessee 4-6-55 married Bill Mc Donald. She was born in Spain Henderson Co Tennessee founded by her father, COL. TOM SPAIN. They settled as pioneers in Paragould, Ar, put in Pruitt's Jewelry store on corner of Emerson and Pruitt in 1881. She was mother of 12 3 of those are Mrs. Carrie Evers Chicago Ora Mc Donalt Yantis and Mrs. Frank Mc Donald. SPAIN, Elrena Elizabeth born 28 Dec 1857 in Lawrence Co Ar and died 15 July 1821 in Lawrence Co Ar. She married FRANKLIN SCOTT PINCHBACK 28 Feb. 1889 son of WILLIAM CREDIX PINCHBACK and LOUISA H. HAMLETT. He was born 13 Sept 1848 in NC and died 10 Apr1915 in Lawrence Co Ar. SPAIN, John D.born CROWLEY RIDGE AR Nov 20, 1859. married ELLA PATTERSON at Portia Ar. SPAIN, Margaret Mariah had polie and bore no chldren, but she married Moses H. Tyner 23 Jan 1869 Moses H. Tyner born 12 Jan 1856 died 14 Oct 1911 in Paragould Greene Co Ar. Both buried Fairview cemetery Greene Co Ar. Moses Tyner arents are: william H. Tyner b: about 1822 in Tennessee. Louisa Ann Barnes b: about 1822 in Tennessee. SPAIN, Harvey Jacob born 12-22-63 died 1939 age 76 had two daughters, Carrie and Dory. And the big search is on for COL. TOM SPAIN who founded the town of SPAIN HENDERSON CO. TENNESSEE. The town was named after him. I haven't been able to find anything on him. Perhaps someone that reads this may have a link. Any help will be appreciated.
