SURNAMES: BAILEY, LAND, SIMMONS, BYRD
QRYTEXT: BAILEY, LAND, SIMMONS, BYRD - my ggg-grandparents John BAILEY
(b. ~1814 SC - d. ~1880 in/near Randolph Co. AR?) lived
in Georgia (Paulding Co.??) during the 1830s, moved to DeKalb Co. AL in
the 1840s before moving to the
Pilot Hill (now Salem), Fulton Co. AR area about 1859 or so. They then
moved to the Ravenden Springs area of
Randolph Co. AR before the 1870 census was taken where they are listed in
Roanoke Township.
The children of my ggg-grandparents John BAILEY and Elizabeth LAND BAILEY
were: William W. BAILEY (b.
June 10, 1834 GA), Mary A. BAILEY (b.~1836 GA), Adeline J. BAILEY
(b.~1838 GA), Elizabeth BAILEY
(b.~1839 GA), Martha Caroline BAILEY (b. June 7, 1844 AL), John W. BAILEY
(b.~1845 GA), Sarah L. BAILEY
(b.~1849 GA), Charity BAILEY (b. Jan. 31, 1851 DeKalb Co. AL), James
BAILEY (b. ~1854 DeKalb Co. AL),
and Eliza/Elizor? BAILEY (b.~1859 AR).
In the 1870 census for Roanoke Twp, Randolph Co. AR, my gg-grandma Martha
Caroline BAILEY SIMMONS (widow of Pvt. Alfred L. SIMMONS, Co. I, 7th
Arkansas Infantry, CSA) is living with her daughter (my great-grandma)
Mary Elizabeth SIMMONS (BYRD); they are all listed together in the
household of John BAILEY and Elizabeth LAND BAILEY at that time.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my ggg-uncle, William W.
BAILEY (listed above) is apparently the same person as Rev. William W.
BAILEY of Ravenden Springs ("Dream Town") fame, as documented in Lawrence
Dalton's History of Randolph County, Arkansas (1946) book. Would LOVE to
make contact with fellow BAILEY, LAND, and SIMMONS descendants to
interact/share family history with...!!!!!!
Any and all help VERY greatly appreciated by this Native Arizonan!!!!!! -
thank you, Kenneth Byrd.
