Ouichita Maynard Academy, 1912
The above picture appeared in the Pocahontas Star Herald June 5, 1969. Mrs. Hasel Talbott Hudson of Pontiac, Mich., furnished this photo, which was taken sometime in the early part of the school term, starting in September, 1912, at Ouichita Academy at Maynard. Attending at that time are, front row, from left, Lily Presley, Amy Phipps Presley, a Hamil girl, Lora Poynor, Iola Fitzgibbon, (a Hamil girl in front of Iola), Elsie Tyler, Ethel Johnston, the next 2 are unknown, Hasel Talbott Hudson, Lela Weaver (in front of Hasel), Estella Abbott (and a Hamil girl in front of Estella). Second row, from left, Victor Maynard, Oran Abbott, Joe Abbott, Arnold Douglas (small boy), Victor Pond, Hallie Mabry, Mrs. Hamil, asst. principal, and Mr. Hamil, the principal. At back are, from left, Clarence Bennett, Toy Springer, Ralph Johnson (in front of Toy), the next 4 are unknown, Earl Spence, Hubert Tyler, Earl Johnston, Luther Craft, Ben Choate and Ray Cherry.
