Pictured is one of Mrs. Daly Thompson's dancing classes of the long ago in Pocahontas. Mrs. Thompson, wife of the superintendent of schools at the time, was one of the first teachers of dancing in Pocahontas Schools. She is the former Miss Ouida Blankenship, daughter of Mrs. L. F. Blankenship of Pocahontas. Mrs. Thompson has resided for many years in Franklin, Tenn., where she continues to teach piano, voice and dancing. The above group gathered in Lemmons Studio on Thanksgiving Day, 1926, for this photo. Making up the class are, seated, front, from left, Jean Martin, Mary Frances Burke, Ann Blankenship and Elizabeth Mock. Second row, from left, Dovie Jones, Marguerite Bowers, Bernice King, Marvine Fender and Coy Woods. Back row, from left, Helen Dixon, Zilpha Hulen, Evelyn Pauline (Pene) Preston, Marion Dixon and Genevieve Sallee. Of the group, seven still reside in Pocahontas fourty-four years later. They are Jean Martin Olvey, Mary Frances Burke Brackett, Ann Blankenship Carroll, Bernice King Limbaugh, Helen Dixon Bly, Zilpha Hulen Swindle and Genevieve Sallee Jackson, none of whom dance much any more.
