PLAY AT MAYNARD IS A DECIDED SUCCESS
The Junior class of Maynard High School presented their play
"Headstrong Joan" to a very appreciative audience
Friday evening, March 24.The play was a decided success from the
rise of the first curtain to the lowering of the last. The one
scene throughout the play was laid in the beautiful garden of Jim
Day, a wealthy merchant, and the appearnace of the stage at the
rise of curtain told the audience that the Juniors had planned
and worked.
Every member of the cast had been well chosen and worked
faithfully. They are as follows: Hazel ODOM, as the pretty young
school teacher . Dorman DISMANG played the part of Richard
Randall, Jim Day's adopted son. Eileen CARTER as "Granny
Dal" . Thelma SPENCER as Monora, the Irish housekeeper.
Chestene MINTON took the part of "Rose" kid sweetheart
of Ikie and Aura's Jewish pupil. Charles HANNA played the part of
Jim Day. Glen RUFF played the part of Abie a Jewish Peddler.
Oscar RIEVES played Jack, black sheep in the Day family. Velma
BUXTON took the role of "Joan Van Pelt" and S.L.PHIPPS
was Ikie, kid lover .
