19 - Owing to the impaired health of Rev. D.L. Gray, at the solicitation of the Session, Rev. Jas. Wilson visited this Church and his services as Pastor were obtained Jany 1862.

In April 1862, this little flock was called upon to mourn the loss of its former pastor D.L.Gray, who died on the 16th day of April and his remains were deposited in the grave yard at the Wattensas Church the day following.

For seven years he faithfully ministered unto this church and such ability and zeal went in and out before them devoting his great talents to this church, rightly dividing unto each their portion in due season.
20 - Years previous to his decease, he was warned by continued ill health of the approaching change and sustained by that faith with which he had so often comforted the heart of others, he peacefully closed his earthly career to enter the possessions of the redeemed in glory.

For over a quarter of a century he ministered in Holy things and declared the council of God to a perishing world, and he has entered into that rest which he published to others as - 21 - bought by the Lamb of God, for those who by faith believe therein. He is reaping his reward and rejoicing with the redeemed in glory.

A doting wife and loving children and faithful friends mourn his decease.

Rev. Mr. Wilson baptized the following children -
Sarah McNeil
Samuella Ragland
Elizabeth Moore
Ann Cowen Williams
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Wilson continued to break unto this people the bread of life until by a strange and mysterious providence of almighty God while returning from the house of God to Mrs. Gray's the horse attached to his buggy became frightened and threw him out of it receiving injuries thereby of which he died the day following, never returning to consciousness.

Thus passed away the Man of God, who in all the order of life, adorned that life with the purest of Christian virtues. He was beloved by his flock to whom he ministered in Holy things, commanding the respect, esteem and confidence of the entire community. He was preeminently a Man of God, a faithful pastor declaring the whole council of God without fear or favor.

How strange a life, so useful, so needed on this sinful globe should be suddenly terminated.

But the Father who sent him removed him and a church, a community mourns for him as a father.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the beginning of 1863, the services of Rev. W.A.Sample were procured and retained until Aug. following when the church remained without a pastor until supplied by Rev. L.McNeely in December 1865.
