Dear Patrons:

Prairie County, Arkansas, was only four years old when this census was taken. Almost every inch of what is today, Lonoke County, Arkansas, was, in 1850, within the county boundary lines of Prairie County, Arkansas.

I hope this compilation is a useful tool in your research project. Please use this as a guide only. I encourage you to always double check someone else’s work. I worked from actual census microfilm, printed census indices, and my personal notes from fifteen years of local research.

I welcome corrections and updates. With this in mind, remember, no researcher wants to receive incorrect information. Please contact me should you have information that would benefit others, along these lines. I keep a perpetual file on Prairie County, Arkansas, families. I would appreciate data from those of you who would help me update my files.

I also should add that not every male on this census has been researched for Confederate service. But, there again, don’t look for men from this county that joined the Union, either. This is my current project. I still have over 700 entries, yet to research.
