SERVICES FOR MRS. MARY L. JONES HELD
Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Lou Jones, widow of the late Mansel G. Jones, who died at her home in Freedom township west of Rocky about 5:45 o'clock Monday afternoon, was held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Rocky church with the Rev. Bud Moore of Ink officiating. Burial at the Rocky cemetery was directed by the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Pallbearers were R.I. Cook, F.D. Cunningham, W.P. Earnest, Sampson Harris, J.B. Cummings, A.C.Whorton. Mrs. Jones was born February 3, 1863, at Farmington, Ky. She was married in Graves county, Kentucky, on January 3, 1878, and soon after with her husband came to Arkansas and located in Polk county near Old Dallas. She became a member of the Baptist Church in 1914. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joe Alexander, Mena, RFD 2; and a son, Ira B. Jones, Mena. Also three grandchildren.

JOPLIN, Daniel Paul

Daniel Paul Joplin, age 91, of Magnolia, Arkansas, died Friday Dec. 12, 1997, at Magnolia City Hospital. He was born July 27, 1906, in Polk County, Arkansas, the son of the late John Edward Joplin, Sr. and Olla Etta Cheek. Mr. Joplin worked in sales for various companies, served in the U. S. Army, was a veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW, a mason and a member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul Lamar Joplin and wife Karen, Magnolia, AR; sister, Lois Smith, Hot Springs, AR; two half brothers, John Joplin, Sallisaw, OK and Bill Joplin, Jacksonville, AR; granddaughter, Kimberly Richardson and husband, Gib, of Nashville, AR; grandson Steven Joplin, Little Rock, AR and a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Mr. Joplin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Thelma Childs Joplin, three sisters and one brother. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Magnolia with Bro. David Wood and Bro. Eric Goble officiating. Interment Monday, Dec. 15, at 1:00 p.m. in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering, Central Baptist Church, Magnolia, AR, or contributor's choice.
