DAVIS, Alice
Monday morning, shortly after the mid-night hour, at the family home on Bethesda Springs road, occurred the death of Mrs. Alice Davis, widow of Uncle Jack Davis. Death was not unexpected as Mrs. Davis had been in poor health for some time. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. T.O. Owen of the M.E. Church South. Burial was at Odd Fellows cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born in Texas, her maiden name being Pate. She would have soon been 70 years of age, and for more than half a century she has lived in Polk county. She was married to Uncle Jack Davis in 1874. Five children survive, Mrs. Albert Robertson and Barney Davis of Mena, Mrs. Gene Dickens of Texarkana and Mrs. Sublette of Tulsa. (Only four of the five are listed.)

DAVIS, Berry
Funeral services were held Saturday morning for Berry Clarence Davis, aged 81, who died at his home in Mena Friday following a short illness. the services were at 10:30 o'clock at the Beasley Chapel with the Rev. L.D. Summers, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Masonic plot at Pinecrest Memorial park, beside the wife of the deceased, who preceded her husband in death about two years. The pallbearers were Mark P. Olney, Paul Sanders, Dennis M. Townsend, Paul b. Griffith, W.E. Holt and George Griffith. Arrangements were by the Beasley Funeral Home. Services at the grave were in charge of Dallas Lodge No. 128, F. & A. Masons. The deceased had been a member of the Masonic lodge for 50 years. Davis was a native of Georgia with his birthplace being Macon. His home had been made in Mena for many years. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Bratcher, Mena; Mrs. Jessie Davis, Walla Walla, Wash.; two brothers, John and Marion Davis, Stamps; two sisters, Mrs. B. J. Pittman, DeLeon, Texas; Mrs. Ella Kinwood, Phoenix, Ariz.; two nieces, Mrs. John Robertson and Mrs. Will Anderson, Texarkana.

DERAMUS, Bert
Surnames: Deramus, Ford, Sulton, Buckley
Charles W. Deramus, age 83, of Mena, died June 27, 1998 at the Mena Medical Center. Mr. Deramus was born September 8, 1914 to the late Joseph Bert Deramus and the late Ema Lou Ralph Deramus. He was united in marriage to Thelma Katherine Ford in 1938. Survivors include his wife, Thelma K. Deramus, Mena, Ar; sons, David Deramus and Coy Deramus, and daughters, Melba and Donna, both of Springdale, AR and Becky Buckley; brother, Loyd Deramus; sister Madge Patrick; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Graveside services were held Monday, June 29, 1988 in the Cherry Hill Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.; Burial followed in the Cherry Hill Cemetery, Cherry Hill, AR

DOVER, John Allen
John Allen Dover, 87, well known Mena retired merchant, died Tuesday in the Wilhelmina Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1896 at Hatfield. Funeral service was held Friday morning at 10 in the Geyer-Quillin Chapel with Rev. Dillard Miller and Rev. Therrell Wilson officiating. Interment was in the Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Geyer-Quillin Funeral Home. Graveside Masonic rites were by Mt. Meadow Lodge No. 218 of Hatfield. Pallbearers were Orville Ogden, Harvey Davis, Harold Smith, Ralph Edwards, Willard Mosley, and Bert Hensley. Dover was the son of the late Tom Dover and the late Mrs. America Griffin Dover and was united in marriage to Miss June Henderson June 5, 1921. She preceded him in death April 10, 1975. He was associated with the Dover Mercantile in Hatfield with his brothers, Mark and Elmer Dover and brother-in-law, Alex Carper, beginning in 1916. In 1934 he moved to Mena and opened Dovers Department Store which he sold in 1948. He opened another department store in 1950 and operated it until his retirement in 1958. He was a member of the Mena First United Methodist Church and a member of the Mt. Meadow No. 218 Masonic Lodge at Hatfield. Survivors are one son, Jim Dover, Fort Smith; one daughter, Mrs. Allyn June Vaught, Mena; four grandchildren, Brenda Smith, Miah Dover, Mark Dover, Sally Dover; one great-granddaughter, Jenniver June Smith.
