Mrs. Vinea E. Mabe of Lunsford, 86, died Tuesday morning at the Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City where she had resided for the past two and a half years. Born in Fulton Co. near Salem, Mrs. Mabe moved to Craighead Co. in 1932 and lived most of her life in the Lake City-Lunsford area. She was a retired employee of Slant & Slant Corp. in Trumann and was a member of the Lake City Assembly of God Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Mabe, one son, James Mabe and four grandchildren, Paul Wayne Hall, Sandra Gail Rand, Tammy Griggs and Thomas F. Riggs. Mrs. Mabe is survived by six daughters, Mary Evelyn Griggs of Bay, Edna Mae Barnett of Newark, Mildred Dillinger of Elizabeth, Ruby Story of Jonesboro, Joyce Jones of Black Oak and Martha Johnson of Joliet, MO; three sons, Samuel Mabe of Bay, Leroy Mabe of Trumann and Walter Mabe of Viola; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2:00p.m. at the Lake City Assembly of God Church with Rev. Raymond Clark and Rev. Van Gilbert officiating. Burial followed at the Monette Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City. Mrs. Mabe's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Bobby Joe Maclin, 40, of Marked Tree, died Friday in Marked Tree. He was employed in the maintenance department at Mid South in Marked Tree. Survivors include a daughter, Danica Maclin of Bay; his mother, Cassie Maclin of Tulot; and four sisters, Mattie Raney of Trumann, Nola Gibbs of Lepanto, Ruby Maclin of Dudley, MO, and Cathy VanVleck of West Plains, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Beard Maclin, and a brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 Monday afternoon in the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree. Funeral Services for the late Frank A. Martin Saturday March 11, 1995 1:00 p.m. at the New Rising Sun M. B. Church Speedway & Lewis St, Trumann, Ark. Frank A. Martin was born on June 14, 1908 in West Point Arkansas to Lonzo and Sally Martin. Mr. Martin live his entire life in Arkansas, mostly in White and Woodruff Counties before moving to the Trumann area in 1961, where he remained until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma J. Martin in October 1993 after 57 years of marriage. During this long union eleven children were born, of whom nine survive. One daughter Exie Washington and One son, James Martin preceded their father in 1975 and 1979, respectively. The Nine surviving children include sons Rufus Martin, Henry Martin, Alonzo Martin of St. Petersburg, Florida, 1st Lt. Rickey Martin of Fort Campbell, KY. Capt. Carl Martin of Vanderberg AFB, Calif. And Melvin Martin of Trumann; daughter Shirley Martin of Alexandria, VA. Gloria Knighton of North Little Rock, AR and Carrie Mitchell of Trumann. The retired farmer also leaves twenty grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and scores of relatives and friends in mourning. Interment, He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at the Judd Hill Cemetery.
Heber Martin, 87, of 320 Thomas St., Trumann, died Thursday at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City, of natural causes. Martin was born in Holland and had lived most of his lifetime in the Bay, Jonesboro and Trumann area. He was a jeweler and watch repairman for over 50 years. He owned and operated Martin's Jewelry Store in Trumann. Martin was a veteran of the U.S.A.F, and was a member of the Trumann Masonic Lodge No. 693, the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Post No. 42, and Central Missionary Baptist Church in Trumann. Martin was preceded in death by two sister; one brother and was the son of the late Arch and Annie Matthews Martin. Survivors include one daughter, Janis Martin Gammon of Trumann; one son, John Allan Martin of Jonesboro; one sister, Lorene Chandler of Jonesboro; two brothers, Pete Martin of Mountain Home and Bill Martin of West Memphis; four grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with Rev. Bill Maxwell officiating. A graveside Masonic service will be in Oaklawn Cemetery at Jonesboro. Trumann Masonic Lodge members will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
James Allie Martin Jr., 71, of Trumann, died Monday (1-10-2000) at the Regional Medical Center of NEA. He was born in Weiner and had lived in Trumann most of his life. He was a retired security guard for Singer Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Martin, in 1994, and by one daughter, Sherry Martin, and one sister, Freda Johnson. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Martin of Trumann and Becky Sandusky of Jonesboro; two sisters, Juanita Turner of Jonesboro and Edna Walls of Memphis; and two grandchildren. Graveside services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 at Oak Grove Cemetery, with James Veal officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro, where visitation will be from 6 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

"Buddy" McCLELLAND DIES SUDDENLY THURSDAY - Thomas Milton (Buddy) McClelland, 49, superintendent of Lake Poinsett State Park, three miles east of this city, died at 3:15 Thursday morning, Dec. 5, suddenly at his home at State Park. Mr. McClelland was born October 18, 1919 at Newton, Miss., but had lived for several years at Weona before moving to Harrisburg a few years ago. While living at Weona he attended Marked Tree school where he was a member of the football team. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a member of the Poinsett Masonic Lodge No. 184, the American Legion, and was a World War II Veteran. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jimmie Fay Hudnall McClelland; his mother, Mrs. Annie Dearing McClelland of this city; three daughters, Mrs. Jo Ann Bourne of SouthHaven, Miss, Mrs. Faye Sefers of West Memphis, Ark. and Miss Nancy Lou McClelland of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel King of Harrisburg and Mrs. Annie Belle Gardner of Scottsdale, Arizona; one brother, George McClelland of Harrisburg; and three grandchildren. Born in Beech Grove, AR, she had lived in Trumann for 74 years and was a homemaker and a member of the Viva Drive Church of Christ. Survivors include four daughters, Cora Loveless, Annette Owens and Cheri Smith, all of Trumann, and Joyce Barnett of Jonesboro; a sister, Sunshine Lands of Light; three brothers, Deward Galbreath, Guy Galbreath and Oval Galbreath, all of Muskegon, MI; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gilbert McCord in 1982; one daughter, Melba Jean Johnston in 2000; three brothers; and was the daughter of the late Oliver Randall Roberts and Lucyann Brashers Roberts Galbreath. Charles McCord, 75, of Marked Tree, died Tuesday at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He was a retired aerospace engineer and an affiliate member of First Unithed Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gloria McCord of Marked Tree; one daughter, Ellen Elizabeth McCord of Santa Cruz, CA; four stepdaughters, Robin Hatzenbuehler of Memphis, Randel Wilder of Burington, NC, Ronda Ray of Kenosha, WI, and Rynnett Clark of Conway; one brother, James McCord of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Angie Carter McCulley, 74, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday afternoon at Skilcare Nursing Home in Jonesboro. She was a retired bookkeeper for Barton Lumber Co. and was a Methodist. Several cousins survive her. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10 in the Jackson Funeral Home chapel in Harrisburg with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. Arvil Eugene "Redbuck" McCulley, Sr., 61, of Manila, died Saturday morning of a heart attack enroute to Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville. A native of Harrisburg, he was the son of the late John H. and Ella Grant McCulley, and graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1935. A veteran of World War II, McCulley was shot down over Germany and was a prisoner of war for more than a year. He had lived in Manila 31 years, moving there to manage the Manila Lumber Co., part of the E.C. Barton Company chain. He was later owner and manager of McCulley-McKinnon Lumber Company. A former president of the Manila Lions Club, he was a member of the Methodist Church and a former board member of the church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucille Morris McCulley of the home; one daughter, Miss Martha Jane McCulley of Memphis; one son, Arvil Eugene (Gene) McCulley, Jr. of Springdale; three sisters, Mrs. Jewel Bogan of St. Louis, MO, Mrs. Lucy Mosley of Edgewater, FL, and Mrs. Lora Hunt of Harrisburg, and three grandchildren, a brother, Thurman McCulley, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Manila at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Interment was in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery Monday afternoon.
David Sewell McCulley, 73, of Harrisburg, Route 2, died at this home Monday. A retired farmer and a WWII Army veteran, he was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion. He was born at Whitehall, Oct. 2, 1911, and was the son of the last Castille Lee and Sara Elizabethj Holliburton McCulley. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Naomi Riley McCulley; one son, David Sewell McCulley, Jr., of Harrisburg; two daughters, Mrs. Nina Olivia Mills of Acacoco, LA, adn Miss Jackie Lynn McCulley of Wynne; one sister, Mrs. Maude Keck of Little Rock, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond Howard officiating. John H. McCulley one of our great citizens here for more than a half century, died Friday night, December 20, at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim W. Jones in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mr. McCulley had been in ill health for sometime, and only a few years ago went to Poplar Bluff to live with Mr. and Mrs. Jones. He was a splendid citizen and had many friends here who regretted to hear of his passing. Back a number of years ago he was Foreman of Bott Manufacturing Company, a position he held for many years, up until the discontinuance of the Company here. John Hamilton McCulley was born January 14, 1873 and was years of age. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by a son, A. E. McCulley of Manila; four daughters; Mrs. J. W. Jones of Poplar Bluff, MO, Mrs. Ed Mosley of Memphis, Mrs. C. A. Bogan of St. Louis, MO, and Mrs. Ira Hunt of this city; two brothers, Albert McCulley of Wynne and Lonnie McCulley of Waynesboro, MS; two sisters Mrs. Sudie Hopper and Mrs. Hattie Wallace of this city; and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in this city Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, with the pastor, Rev. J. T. Byrd officiating. Burial followed in the City Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were; Earl Condra, Clay Mardis, Harry Mills, Kenneth Leach, W. L. Mrs. Lucille Morris McCulley, 74, of Manila, died Monday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was the widow of A. E. McCulley and had been a Manila resident since 1946. A member of Manila United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, she was a retired civil service employee for the former Eaker Air Force Base. Surviving are one son, Arvil Eugene "Gene" McCulley of Springdale and one daughter, Martha Jane McCulley of Versailles, KY; one sister Gladys Kouins of Ketchikan, Alaska; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11 this morning at First United Methodist Church in Manila, with Rev. Willis Osban officiating. Kevin Leroy McDonald, 35, of Harrisburg, died Monday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Born in Harrisburg, he was a factory worker and a member of the Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Survivors include his father, E.V. McDonald of Marked Tree; two sisters, Brenda Clayton of Goodlettsville, TN, and Barbara McDonald of Lepanto; two brothers, Steve McDonald of St. Peters, MO, and Larry McDonald of Blytheville; and his grandmother, Elvie Wardbitton of Marked Tree. J.D. "Jeff" McGehee, 85, of Memphis, TN, died Sunday at his home. A Dresden native, he was an Arkansas school superintendent for four decades, serving among others the Lepanto and Trumann schools. He was an Army veteran, serving in the European Theatre during 1942-46. He earned bachelor of arts degrees in English and history from Bethel College in McKenzie, TN, and worked on graduate studies at George Peabody College, which is now part of Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, TN. He was active in the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and the Rotary Club, as well as a number of school-related organizations. Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Kenney of Park Ridge, IL; two sons, Russell McGehee of Jesup, GA, and Tony McGehee of Memphis; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Kirby McGehee. Funeral mass will be at 10 Wednesday morning at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Memphis. Ralph Eugene McGowan, 69, of Moreno Valley, CA, formerly of Trumann, died Tuesday at Cloverleaf Convalescent Hospital in Homet, CA. Mrs. Marilyn Virginia McIlvoy, 87, of Linden, TN., died Wednesday in the Perry County, Tennessee Nursing Home. She lived in Weiner for more than 60 years and had lived in Linden for the past three years. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Weiner. Mrs. McIlvoy was preceded in death by her husband, Albert McIlvoy, one daughter and two sons. Surviving are one daughter, Joan Sides of Linden; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. John William "Bill" McIntosh, 77, of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, June 18th, at Methodist Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Missouri, he was the son of the late George and Mildred Lynch McIntosh. He was a retired employee of the Arkansas Highway Department and a Baptist. His wife, Mrs. Alice Lucille Geno McIntosh preceded him in death. Horace McNabb, Former Corning man, Passes On - Horace McNabb, 55, a well-known former Corning man, passes away at his home in Marked Tree last Friday, April 6, following illness of several weeks, from pneumonia. Born Sept. 20, 1879, reared at Palatka and was the son of the late William Riley McNabb and Sarah Frances Hitt. Mr. McNabb for a number of years lived in Corning, and was employed at J.M. Rhea's hardware store. About 18 years ago he removed to Marked Tree, where he had since resided. His funeral services and interment were held Sunday at Marked Tree. Mr. McNabb is survived by his widow and six children of Marked Tree and one sister, Mrs. (Mollie) O.J. Harold of Corning.

While attending Arkansas State University, he was a member of the baseball team and went on to play minor league baseball for the Southern Baseball League in Texas and Louisiana. He later taught school in McCormick and Caraway. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Dee Moon and by one brother, James Travis Moon. Survivors include two daughters, Dollie Davis of Conway and Cindy Certain of Heber Springs; two sons, Bandy Moon of Jonesboro and Scott Moon of Blue Eye, MO; one sister, Loretta Forrester of Trumann; one brother, Wallace Moon of Bryan, Texas; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. SERVICE HELD FOR SIDNEY MORGAN - Services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at Barton Chapel for Sidney Morgan, 18 year old son of Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Morgan of Earle. The Rev. J.W. Deaton, assisted by the Rev. Alton White, officiated. Burial was in Tyronza Cemetery. Morgan was fatally injured in an automobile accident last Thursday evening around 8:30 near Parkin. Parkin authorities said the accident occurred when a car thought to be driven by the Morgan youth, pulled out in front of a mail truck on Highway 64. Driver of the truck, Mike Rutledge, 25, of Judsonia was not injured. Three other youths in the Morgan car were injured. They were Riley Feeny, 17, and Mike Kosloski of Earle, and Lewis Wood, 14, who lived near Earle in the Turrell School District. The Morgan youth was taken to the Cross County Hospital at Wynne and later trasferred to a Memphis Hospital where he died Friday morning. He was born in Tyronza and was a junior at Earle High School, where he was a member of the football squad, the band, and the FFA. In addition to his parents he leaves two brothers, Aflred Eugene and James L., both of Earle, his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ross C. McFall of Gilmore, and his paternal grandfather, S.A. Morgan of West Memphis.
Mrs. Velta Morgan, 59, of 511 Bowling Lane, Jonesboro, died Sunday at Regional Medical Center of NEA. Born at Bay and formerly of Trumann, she was a rehabilitation counselor, a writer and of the Church of Christ belief. Survivors include two daughters, Kari Taylor of Jonesboro and Robin Lowery of Vallonia, IN; four sisters, Carolyn Sanders and Phyllis Dugan, both of Jonesboro, Claudine Rosenburg of Sylmar, CA, and Wanda Vance of Paris, TN; one brother, Carl Sanders of Jonesboro; and four grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Jonesboro, with Richard Atkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cletus Morris, 66, of Lepanto, died Wednesday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. He was a farmer. Survivors include a son, William Morris of Lepanto; two daughters, Sharon Morris and Dianne Dobbins, both of Trumann; a brother, Eugene Morris of Marked Tree; a sister, Marie Hudson of Long Island, CA. Funeral services will be at 2 Saturday afternoon at the Revival Center in Lepanto. Burial will be in Tyronza Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 this afternoon until 9 this evening at the Revival Center.
Delton Morris Sr., 78, of Concord, formerly of Harrisburg, died Sunday at his home. Born in Harrisburg, he was a retired carpenter and a WWII Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Dorothy McCracken Morris of the home; three sons, Delton Morris Jr. and Leslie Barker, both of Concord, and Jeff Morris of Drasco; five daughters, Hazel Brecheen, Portia Taylor and Holly Sutherland, all of Concord, Brenda Brown of Harrisburg and Maxine Parker of St. Charles, MO. He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, four sisters and one half-sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
Elvis Noah Morris, 78, of Harrisburg, died Monday at Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg. Born in Kennett, MO, he was a used car salesman, a member of the Assembly of God Church and a World War II veteran. Survivors include two sons, Donnie and Robert Morris, both of Wichita, KS; one daughter, Charlotte Morris of Dallas, TX; four brothers, rev. L.T. Morris of Paris, TN, Bobby Morris of Black Oak, Thomas Morris of Pontiac, MI, and Johnny Morris of Harrisburg; and one sister, Leoda Parker of Coachville, IN. He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Morris; and two sisters, Mildred Lee and Connie Chandler. Funeral services will be at 2 Thursday afternoon at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home, with Rev. Gerald Scott officiating. Burial will be in Bolivar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 this afternoon until 9 this evening.
Mrs. Janie Morrisett, 84, of Roswell, NM, formerly of Marked Tree, died Tuesday at her home. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Marked Tree Water Dept. and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Smith-Poss of Roswell; one brother, James Farrell Blain of Greenville, MS, and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell "Pete" Morrisett, and by four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree, with Rex Dickey officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Moss, 78, of Trumann, will be Saturday morning at 10 at Jonesboro Memorial Park, with Rev. Gary Brown and Rev. Bert Hergett officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Moss died Wednesday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. She was born in the Valley View community and lived in the Central community before moving to Trumann 10 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Moss, in 1972. Survivors include three sons, Gary Moss, Barry Moss and Harold Lynn Moss, all of Harrisburg; two sisters, Mary Alice Salmons and Nona Ergle, both of Jonesboro; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 this afternoon until 8 this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mary Jane Moss, 86, of Trumann, died Sunday at Rose Care Nursing Center in Trumann. Born at Biggers, she had lived in Trumann most of her life. She was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Augustine Holm of Trumann and Betty Lou Crossno of Walnut Ridge; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Moss, and two sons, a daughter and 13 brothers and sisters. Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 Wednesday afternoon at Gregg Funeral Home chapel in Jonesboro, with Rev. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Kincaid, Bobby Walton, Derek Walton, Darin Walton, Dale Whitlatch and Johnny Whitlatch. Visitation will be from 5 this afternoon until 8 this evening at the funeral home. J.W. Murrell, 69, of Harrisburg, AR passed away Wednesday evening, May 12, 2004 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Mr. Murrell was born August 20, 1934, in Fulton, MS, the son of Leroy "Bill" Murrell and Avalou Moore Murrell. J.W. was a lifetime resident of Harrisburg and was a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the Harrisburg First Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason with the Poinsett Masonic Lodge in Harrisburg. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, and ride horses. He married Betty Humphries on July 23, 1955, and they enjoyed nearly 50 years together. Mr. Murrell was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Grady Murrell; and one sister, Dean Phillips. Survivors include his wife, Betty Murrells of the home; one son, James Murrell of Harrisburg; two daughters, Wanda Losacco of Bono, and Judy Lally of Harrisburg; one sister, Wilma Jean Wright of Cherokee, AL; five grandchildren, Tiffany Brown, Jeremy Lally, Branden Murrell, Jay Murrell, and Tasha Losacco; and two great grandchildren, Caleb Brown and Christopher Losacco. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 16, at the Weston Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Internment followed in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites and Full Military Honors. Active pallbearers included Perry Long, Joey Long, Joe Long, Randall Long, Berry Waters, Ralph Hooker, Ray Sharp and James Williams.
