Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta E. Kelley, 82, of San Jose, CA, formerly of Harrisburg, who died Monday in San Jose, will be Saturday afternoon at 2 at Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with Alvis Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Old Harrisburg Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Bryan Reddman, David Kelley and Ryan Nelson. Born at Waldenburg, she had lived in San Jose for 40 years. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, Clifford Kelley Jr. and Michael Kelley, both of San Jose; four daughters, Paula Kelley Caywood and Linda Kelley Crumley, both of San Jose, CA, Sharon Kelley Rigdon and Patricia Kelley, both of Albany, OR.; one sister, Lillian Reddman of Weiner; 13 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 1 until 2 at the funeral home.
Glenn Kerr Jr., 75, of McCrory, formerly of Harrisburg, died Thursday at the Woodruff County Nursing Home in McCrory. Born at Patterson, he was principal at Harrisburg Elementary School from 1962 until 1981. He was a graduate of Arkansas College (now Lyon College) in Batesville, received a master's degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, was a World War II Navy veteran and was of the Baptist belief. Survivors include three sons, William Glenn "Bill" Kerr III of Midland, TX, John Mark Kerr of San Angelo, TX, and Eric Kerr with the Navy; two daughters, Carol Conner of San Antonio, TX, and Janet Bantel of Little Rock; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Pulley Kerr and a brother. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home. Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Evie L. Key, 95, of Marked Tree, died Thursday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Born in Lexington, MS, she lived in Marked Tree for 23 years, relocating from Lepanto. She was a member of the First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church of Marked Tree where she had been president of the Mothers' Board. Survivors include two sons, James Walls of Omaha, NB, and Clarance Beamer of Lancaster, PA; one daughter, Minnie Johnson of Marked Tree; two sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Cruger, MS, and Mary Weatherall of Picaune, MS; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Key, and a son. Funeral services will be at 1 Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree, with the Rev. S.L. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marked Tree, under the direction of Sims- Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree. Active pallbearers will include Robert Cummings, Wallace Cummings, Willie Cummings, James Johnson Jr., Kenneth Johnson and Elisha Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Johnson Sr., Clarance Beamer, Clint Johnson, Henry Johnson and Joe Johnson. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at the church.
Mrs. Katherine Kinard, 56, of Fisher, AR passed away Sunday, April 16, 2004 at her home in Fisher. Mrs. Kinard was born August 7, 1947, in Jackson County, AR, the daughter of Fred White and Ruby Mae Butler White. She was a life time resident of Fisher and a member of the Church of God in Fisher. She loved to fish and garden. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. Survivors include two sons, Carl Wayne Smith of Doniphan, MO and Billy Pierce of Cherry Valley, AR; two daughters, Penny Pierce of Cherry Valley and Deann Gill of Fisher; one brother, Fred White of Fisher; four sisters, Helen Pearlene Jameson of McCrory, AR, Mary Bumgardner of MI, Wanda Smith of Doniphan, MO, and Katie Davis of Fisher; and four grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, at 2 p.m., at the Fisher Cemetery in Fisher, under the direction of Weston Funeral Service of Harrisburg. Officiating minister will be Rev. Tucker. Interment will follow in the Fisher Cemetery.
Funeral services for Miss Minnie Vernee King, 73, of Trumann, who died Monday evening at Rosecare Nursing Center in Trumann, will be at 1 Friday afternoon in the Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Jim Hilyer officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery. Nephews serving as pallbearers include Ray Gibbs, Bryan Gibbs, Kelly Austin, James Mitchell, Timmy Mitchel and Ricky Mitchell. Born in Melbourne, she had lived most of her life in Trumann. She was retired from the Singer Company in Trumann and was a member of the Trumann Revival Center. Survivors include one brother, Charlie King of Trumann. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be held from 5 this afternoon to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
Mr. J.E. Kirby, 101, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Harrisburg. Mr. Kirby was born November 18, 1902 in Rector, Arkansas, the son of Charles Woodson and Delia Ann Spencer Kirby. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Bolivar Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Pate Kirby, one infant son, one brother, A.J. Kirby; one sister, Essie Mae Kain; and three grandchildren, Sarah Louise Kirby, Elizabeth Marie Kirby, and Marlin E. Kirby, Jr. Survivors include two sons, Marvin A. Kirby and Marlin E. Kirby both of Harrisburg; one daughter, Sylvia Dail of Harrisburg; one brother, T.E. Kirby of Bonham, TX; thirteen grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, April 29, at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Alvin Swan officiating. Interment followed at Holly Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnny Kirby, James Kirby, Justin Taylor, Keith Hull, Robbie Coleman and Wesley Brown; honorary pallbearers were the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Robert Rex Kirkland, 72, of Trumann died Friday, Jan. 2, at Regional Medical Center of NEA. Born at Belmore, he lived most of his life in Trumann. He was retired from the City of Trumann Street Department and was of the Baptist belief. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Kirkland and Stanley Kirkland, both of Trumann; one sister, Bernell Holloway of Gideon, Mo.; three brothers, Charles Kirkland of Kennett, Mo., J.C. Kirkland of Nashville, Tenn., and J.W. Kirkland of Jonesboro; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother. Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 5, 2003, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with the Rev. Billy Moore officiating. Burial followed in Holly Springs Cemetery at Harrisburg. Pallbearers were Billy Clark, Robbie Deason, Josh Kirkland, Timmy Kirkland, Tommy Kirkland, David Phillips, John Smith and Eddie Upton.
Mrs. Mondelphia "Dell" Klett, 77, of 119 Stevens Square, Lepanto, died Sunday at her residence. A member of the Church of Christ, she was a homemaker and was a nursing assistant for 40 years. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Rennick of Coloma, MI; one son, Don Eichier of Costa Mesa, CA; two brothers, George Huff of Michigan and Bobby Huff of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 2 Tuesday afternoon at Murphey Funeral Home in Lepanto, with Sylvester Brannon officiating. Burial will be in Potter Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wilma Mae Knight, 80, 14776 Mollie Lane, Trumann, who died Monday at the Rose Care Nursing Center in Trumann. Mrs. Knight was born Oct. 22, 1919, in Harrisburg and had lived most of her life in Trumann. She was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal belief. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 10 at Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with Frank Vick officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Spring Cemetery at Harrisburg. Survivors include three daughters, Wilam Jean Bennett of Niles, MI, Bonnie Mae Franks of Cassopolis, MI, and Donna Fay Watts of Trumann; three sons, Burl Thomas Knight, Johnny Ray Knight and James Earl Knight, all of Trumann; 34 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Alexander Knight in 1974, a daughter, Mary Katherine Lawson, a son, Douglas Knight, one granddaughter, one great-grandson and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mattie Bonds Bradley. Pallbearers were Buddy Knight, Jimmy Lee Knight, Larry Knight, Tracy Knight, Larry Swan and Michael Vick. Visitation will be this afternoon from 5 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.
