David Hall, 75, of 618 Ellis St., Trumann, died Tuesday at his residence. Born at Black Oak, he was a retired millwright for the Singer Company and a 32nd degree Mason with the Trumann Masonic Lodge. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Survivors include his wife, Gerneal Hall of the home; two daughters, Beverly Terry and Wanda Hall, both of Trumann; one son, Dan Hall of Trumann; one grandchild; three step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Tessie Halsey, 82, of 412 E. Speedway, Trumann, died Monday at Rose Care Nursing Center in Trulann of natural causes. Born in Concord, TN, she was a homemaker and a member of the Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann. Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Barnes and Nelldean Bryant, both of Trumann; three sisters, Iris Layne of Trumann, and Margie Sawyers and Earline Greene, both of Memphis; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Halsey I in 1999, four sisters and three brothers and was the daughter of the late Joe C. and Katie White Layne. He is survived by one son Henry Hammond, and his wife Marilyn, One stepson, James Brown one stepdaughter, Bertha (King) Lincoln. He had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Josie L Hammond, his parents, sisters, and brothers. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Judd Hill Cemetery, Judd Hill Arkansas.
John Hampovchan, 91, of Harrisburg, died Friday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in New York, he was a retired truck driver. He was a Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by four grandchildren. Born June 17, 1943 at Cotton Plant, he had lived in Trumann since 1973 and was formerly of Chicago. He has been a machinist for FMC in Jonesboro, a veteran of the United States Navy and was a Protestant. Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Smith of Nashville, TN; four sons, Glenn Hannon of Paragould, Del Hannon of Trumann, Heath Hannon of Brighton, MI, and Wade Hannon of Bellefontaine, OH; his mother, Bertie M. Joint funeral services for Ricky Noah Haygood, 38, and Gerald Haygood, 46, both formerly of Trumann, were Monday morning at 11 in the chapel of Brantley Funeral Home of Olive Branch, MS. Gerald Haygood was buried in Byhalia Cemetery in MS and Ricky Haygood was buried in Bolivar Cemetery at Harrisburg. The two died Jan. 12 in an automobile accident in Memphis. Ricky Haygood was president of Haygood Tower Co. and was formerly the owner of ABC Tower Co. He was of the Pentecostal belief. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton Henderson who died in 1961; two sons, Warren Henderson and Kenneth Troy Henderson, two grandchildren, one sister, one brother and was the daughter of the late Tom and Gertie Valentine. Mrs. Henderson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nina Waters of Trumann and Mrs. Helen Kay Smith of Bay; one son, Allen Henderson of Trumann; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. HARRISBURG - Gene Henderson, 76, of Harrisburg died Thursday, June 17, at St. Bernard's Medical Center. Born at Manila, he was the former owner of Gene's Drive-In and Gene's Restaurant in Harrisburg. He was a member of the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Harrisburg City Council. He also held membership in the Poinsett Masonic Lodge. He was a part owner of Henderson Hauling and served 17 years as the mailer at the Poinsett County Detention Center. He was a member of Harrisburg First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Birdie Sue Exum Henderson of the home; two sisters, Lela Wright of Harrisburg and Velma Lee Wallace of Lake Village; a son, Calvin Henderson of Harrisburg; and three grandchildren, Stacy Ivy Ashlock, Jake Henderson and Lyndsey Henderson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Jean Ivy; his parents, Elvin L. and Nettie Stricklin Henderson; and two brothers. Mrs. Gertrude Lela Chaffin Hendrix, 81, of Searcy, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in North Little River. Mrs. Hendrix lived most of her life in Trumann area before moving to Searcy four years ago. She was a member of Eastern Star, the Birthday Club, the Happy Home Maker Club and the First United Methodist Church, all of Trumann. Mrs. Hendrix loved gardening, sewing, homemaking and pets. Mrs. Hendrix helped her late husband with the operation of their 160 acre cattle farm and faithfully cared for him as his health faded. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, a telephone operator, and worked for Singer Manufacturing until her retirement. Mrs. Hendrix was a loving mother and a dedicated and faithful wife. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Elmer Hendrix, one son, Howell "Sonny" Forrest Hendrix, seven sisters, six brothers and was the daughter of the late Joe and Ollie Simmons Chaffin. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Hendrix of Searcy and Dennis Edwin Hendrix of Little Rock; one sister, Mrs. L.D. (Norma) Lankford of Clarksdale, MS; six grandchildren, Jeffery Scott Hendrix, Brent Lee Hendrix, Terry Hendrix, Jon Dunn, Kellie Trickey and Heather Starnes; and six great-great-grandchildren. A Harrisburg native, he was a soil conservationist agent and was a member of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson. He was named Outstanding Young Farmer in AR in 1970, and was a Jaycees International senator, a member of Toastmasters and served as chairman of Jackson's Christmas Parade. He was named recipient of former President George Bush's 1000 points of Light award for his work with organ donor awareness. Charles Homer Hervey, 73 years of age, died at his home Monday, Sep. 25, after an illness of several months. Besides his wife, Mrs. Fannie Bell Hervey, he leaves two sons, A.C. and Jess Hervey, Trumann; two daughters, Mrs. Alta Greenwood, Trumann, and Mrs. Noami Gage, Lesterville, MO; three brothers, John, George and Henry Hefner, Moose Jaw, Canada; one sister, seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Hervey was born Dec. 22, 1868 in LaGrange County, IN. He was married to Fannie Bell Long, Sep. 12, 1885. He made his home in Trumann for the past four years.
Jimmy Delane Higginbotham, 69, of Harrisburg, died Monday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Born in Houlka, MS, he was a farmer and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Harrisburg. Survivors include his wife, Martha Hamilton Higginbotham of the home; three sons, Jimmy Higginbotham of Memphis, Dean Higginbotham of LA and Jeffrey Higginbotham of Paragould; two daughters, Delores Higginbotham and Sandra Dunn, both of Harrisburg; two brothers, Billy Higginbotham of Corintha, MS, and Jimmy Higginbotham of Houlka, MS; one sister, Frances Vance of Reinges, MS; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson. Funeral service will be Thursday morning at 11 at the First Assembly of God Church in Harrisburg, with Rev. Dwight Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Harrisburg. Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Joan Darlene "Corky" Hill, 47, of 613 Mildred, Trumann, died Monday morning at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould of natural causes. She was a lifetime resident of Trumann, was a packer for the Arkansas Glass Co., in Jonesboro and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Mary Pauline Meridith, one brother, Wayne Douglas Goff and her grandmother, Mrs. Goldie Marie Meridith. Surviving are her husband, William Eddie Hill Sr., of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Rene Inskeep and Priscilla Marie Presley, both of Trumann; two stepdaughters, Paula Kay Ollie and April Hill of West Memphis; two stepsons, Paul Hill and Eddie Hill Jr. of West Memphis; two sisters, Patricia Goff of Jonesboro and Linda Irvin of Trumann; and six grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery south of Jonesboro, with Rev. David Tribble and Rev. Willie Clem officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Arlow Hillis, 88, of Trumann, died Saturday at the Rose Care Nursing Home in Trumann. She was born Jan. 27, 1912 in Hot Springs and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Willey Sanders. She was a homemaker and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Payneway. Survivors include nine sons, Joe Hillis and James Hillis, both of Trumann, Frank Hillis of Harrisburg, Thomas J. Hillis Jr., Clarence Hillis and Ronnie Hillis, all of Wynne, Jimmy Hillis and Doyle Hillis, both of Weona and Wayne Hillis of Marked Tree; six daughters, Nora Hebert of New Iberia, LA, Sonya Johnson of Harrisburg, Barbara Cervenka of Countryside, IL, Sharon McClure of Bakersfield, CA, Linda Herrin of Bay, and Mary Stacy of Smithville; three sisters, Violet Shores of Alma, Ruth Mamms and Emma Sanders, both of Hot Springs; 44 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jefferson Hillis and by one son, Ocie Hillis. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home, with Rev. David Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. George Van Buren Hinds, son of Van Buren and A.E. Hinds, died at his home near Searcy, Ark.; April 25th, 1906, and was buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Searcy, Ark., on April 27th, 1906. He was 33 years, 7 months and 23 days old, he left a wife and three children, a father, mother, two brothers and three sisters to mourn his untimely death. He was taken sick with congestio at 10 o'clock in the morning and died at 6 in the evening. He was born in Jasper County, Ind; married Miss Sarah E. Green in 1898, at Lawrenceburg, Tenn., by Rev. Beasley, of the M E church, and moved to Arkansas in 1898, where he remained until his death. He was a member of the Christin church for 20 years; was baptized at the age of 13 years at Remington, Ind. He was a loving husband and father, an effectionate son and brother, a devoted christian and beloved by all his friends and acquaintances. Ira Van Hinds, 65, of Olive Branch, MS, formerly of Trumann died Thursday afternoon at his home. He was born in Trumann and spent most of his life there before moving to Olive Branch nine years ago. A former salesman, tax appraiser and Realtor in Northeast Arkansas, he was employed at Baptist Memorial Hospital De Soto in Southaven, MS, at the time of his death. He was an active member of the Melton Ave. Church of Christ in Trumann for most of his life and later at Valley Grove Church of Christ in Southaven, where he taught a Bible class and was song leader. Hinds was recently recognized with the dedication of a memorial fountain for his work with the Baptist Protective Care Center of De Soto County. Surviving are his wife, Betty Owens Hinds of the home; one son, Ronald Van Hinds of Southaven; one daughter, Sherrye Morgan of Olive Branch; five brothers, George Hinds of Jonesboro, Terrell Hinds of Memphis, Wayne Hinds and Oliver Hinds of Trumann and Ferrell Hinds of Germantown, TN; two sisters, Vivian Presley of Trumann and Maxine Haun of Jonesboro; and three grandchildren. Mr. John R. Hinds, 68, Harrisburg, died May 8, 1998, at the Methodist Hospital in Jonesboro. Mr. Hinds was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Trumann to the late J.W. & Eula Marie Knight Hinds. He was a retired crane operator for General Motors and a member of the Local 599 U.A.W. He was a member of the County Line Church of Christ and a Korean Conflict Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Hinds; and a sister, Helen Hinds. He is survived by: his wife, Shirley Barrett Hinds of the home; one son, Joseph E. Hinds Gaines, MI; three daughters, Debra Ann Propps of Mineral Springs, Mary Ann Warren of Troy, MO, and Brenda Gail Pryor of Germantown; six brothers, George B. Mrs. Shirley Ann Hinds, 64, of Trumann, formerly of Harrisburg, died Monday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Born Sep. 7, 1935, in Flint, MI, she was a homemaker and a member of the County Line Church of Chirst. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Hinds and was the daughter of the late Stanley E. and Edith Willis Barrett. Survivors include one son, Joseph E. Hinds of Gaines, MI; three daughters, Debra Ann Propps of Nashville, Mary Ann Warren of Troy, MI, and Brenda Gail Pryor of Germantown, TN; one brother, George Barrett of Sault Ste. AGED CITIZEN PASSED AWAY - Van Buren Hinds was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, July 13,
1839, died in Letona, Feb. 10, 1922, at about 5 o'clock p.m., age 82 years 7 months and
2 days. He was united in marriage to Anna Eliza Harris, July 26, 1866, at Remington,
Ind. To this union 12 children were born, 7 of whom preceded their father in death. He
leaves to mourn his loss, his faithful wife and five children.
Mrs. Ella Harris, Letona; David Hinds, Letona; William Hinds and Mrs Hannah Turner,
Searcy; Mrs. Pearl Clossen, Letona; also 21 grand children, and two great grand
children. Deceased was a faithful follower of God, having joined the Christian church
at Remington, Ind., nearly forty years ago. A good and loving father and faithful
companion, faithful to his country in her time of need, he was loyal in all things.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Searcy Sunday Feb. 12th, 1922 at 1 o'clock p.m.

Robert Harold Hinshaw, 87, of Jonesboro died Saturday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Born in Poinsett County, he was a Mason, a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and a retired merchant. He had lived in Jonesboro for four years and was a former resident of Harrisburg. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Hinshaw. Survivors include two sons, Frank Hinshaw of Jonesboro and Robert H. Hinshaw of Trumann; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Arvil Houston Hisaw, 74, 408 Mildred, Trumann, died Thursday morning at his home. Born Jan. 2, 1926, in Cash and had lived in Trumann for the past 43 years, moving from Grubbs. Retired from the Singer Company, he was a member of the Christian Worship Center in Trumann. He was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother and a great- granddaughter, and was the son of the late Archie and Marie E. Kirkland Hisaw. Charles Edward Holbrook, 60, of Tyronza, died Friday in an automobile accident on U.S. 63 at Marked Tree. A restaurant owner, he was of the Baptist faith. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served two tours of duty as a helicopter pilot. Survivors include his wife, Pauline "Polly" Holbrook of Tyronza; two sons, Eric Holbrook of Houston, TX, and Gary Holbrook of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Faye Beck of Knoxville, TN, Sherril Davis of Memphis, TN, and Karen Butler of Houston; three brothers, Tom Holbrook of Nashville, TN, Ronald Holbrook of Tyronza and Billy Joe Holbrook of Atkins. Jack Holliman, 70, of West Memphis, died Wednesday at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. Born in Arkadelphia, he had lived in Lepanto for approximately 50 years before moving to West Memphis six months ago. He was a retired farmer and a member of Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church in Tyronza where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by two sons, Roy Chester Holliman and Ray Holliman. Mrs. Hopper Dies Thursday Afternoon. - Mrs. Susan "Sudie" Florence Hopper died at her home on Jackson Street Thursday afternoon at 3:25, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Hopper was born in Florence, AL, November 16, 1869 and would have been 94 years of age in November. She was the daughter of John and Frances Upchurch McCulley. The family left Alabama and came to Whitehall when she was 15 years of age, and she has lived in and near this city since that time. Her husband, the late James Hopper, died 23 years ago. She was a member of the Farm Hill Methodist Church for more than three-quarters of a century. At the age of 92, she went to church fifteen nights in succession, without missing a single night. First the revival at Harrisburg Methodist Church and then a revival at Farm Hill Methodist Church. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Mae Bridges, Mrs. Dora Brown, Mrs. Trudy Hopper, all of Harrisburg, and Mrs. Montie Cromwell of St. Louis; a sister Mrs. Hattie Wallace of Harrisburg; a brother, Lonnie McCulley of Waynesburg, MS; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. A large crowd of relatives and fiends attended the funeral services, Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Farm Hill Methodist Church, three miles south of Harrisburg. Rev. G.A. McKelvey, pastor of the Harrisburg Methodist Church and Rev. Lon Brewer, pastor of the Cherry Valley Methodist church officiated. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. Interment was in Farm Hill Cemetery with Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Clay Mardis, Rhea Eastin, John Mardis, Eugene Graddy, F.S. Durham, and John Yarbro.
Mrs. Lucille Hoozer, 81, of Trumann, died Sunday at Regional Medical Center of NEA. Born April 3, 1919, in Cash, she was a homemaker and a Baptist and had lived near Bay and Trumann most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hoozer. Survivors include a son, Tommy Hoozer of Jonesboro; four daughters, Carolyn Holt of Trumann, Reda Lashlee of Bay, Billie Timms of Alton, MO, and Sheila Simpson of Willow Springs, MO; two brothers, Laffey Preston of Jonesboro and Clarks Preston of Bay; three sisters, Elsie Cox of Jonesboro, Wilma Sanders of Bay and Notra Freeman of Trumann; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 Wednesday morning at the Roller-Farmers Union Chapel, with Larry Nash officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Micheal Dickens, Bill Freeman, Nick Cox, Kenny Vestal, Mark Cox and Rick Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will include Scott Kersey and Bill Tilman. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ione Horst, 72, of Fisher, died Thursday at the Regional Medical Center of NEA. She was a homemaker, a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Waldenburg and the Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid Society. She also had worked with the Lutheran Braille Workers. Survivors include her husband, Franklin Horst of the home; four daughters, Debbie Jones, Lynn Jones and Kim Dennis, all of Fisher, and Jan Wilkins of Houston, TX; her mother, Ida K. Wofford of Weiner; two sisters, Juanita Gooch of Weiner and Betty Lou Smith of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Saturday morning at the Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Leigeber officiating. Burial will be in Waldenburg Cemetery, under the direction of Langford's Funeral Service of Jonesboro. Active pallbearers will include Jim Hesse, Phil Hesse, Gary Zirbel, Bill Teague, Tommy Cunningham and Lynn Bradley. Members of the church will be honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5 this afternoon to 8 this evening at the funeral home and from 9:30 Saturday morning until the time of service at the church. For individuals who wish to leave memorials, the family has asked that consideration be given to the Zion Lutheran Church and the Waldenburg Cemetery Fund.
Mrs. Katherine Louise Garvey Horton, 75, of Harrisburg and Cape Coral, FL, widow of S. Herman Horton, was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon, April 20th, in a car-pickup collision in Memphis. Born in Parkin September 4, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Henry T. and Marie Berry Garvey, of Harrisburg and had lived in Cape Coral for twenty-two years. She had served on the North First Bank of Cape Coral Board of Directors, the Hospital Health Authority Board, the Gulf Coast Village Board, and the Administrative Board of the Cape Coral United Methodist Church of which she was a member. She was also a member of the Capital Area Club, the 76 Club, Cape Coral Ex Execs. and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mrs. Horton's late husband was a former member of the Jonesboro law firm of Penix and Horton and later served with the FBI, OSS and CIA. After his retirement from CIA, the family moved to Cape Coral. Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Horton Jackson of Cape Coral; a sister, Hazel Garvey Freeman of Harrisburg; a granddaughter, Shannon Horton Buchanan of Colorado Springs CO; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Buchanan; a newphew David Freeman of Atlanta, GA and a niece, Elaine Freeman Nix, of Harrisburg. Funeral services were held at 2:00 Friday afternoon, April 23rd, at the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg with Rev. James D. Harrison, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Harrisburg Memorial Park under the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Larry Jennings, Buzzy Faulkner, Clyde Ford, Tommy Wimpy, Sherrill Brown and Stanley Brown. Honorary pallbearers were George Brown, Arvil Brown, H.P. Maddox, Jr., Ralph Wimpy, Ray Holmes, Hubert Mashburn, Rayburn Smith, J.F. Winningham and Louie Collier. Ushers were Danny Clements, Jerry Heeb and Bill Carwell.
Mrs. Dorothy Viola Howard, 78, of Trumann, died Saturday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born in Osceola and lived in Jonesboro before moving to Trumann 28 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Trumann. Survivors include four sons, Franklin W. Howard and Joe H. Howard Jr., both of Trumann, Don Howard of Bay and Thomas W. Howard of St. Louis; one brother, Walton H. Wilson of Sardis, Miss.; three sisters, Lillie Mae Howard of Sardis, Mable Harrison of Jonesboro and Christine Rohr of Tacoma, WA; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Howard Sr., and by one son and two daughters. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 1 in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with Rev. Donald Strait officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Essie Beatrice hull was born on October 31, 1925 to the late Julius and Ella Cleveland, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She moved to Trumann, Arkansas at an early age, where she accepted Christ. Essie remained in Trumann until her health caused her to be moved to Beverly Nursing home in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The Lord called her home on March 28, 2002. Essie became a member of the New Rising Sun where she held several positions, but her favorite was on the Mother's Board where she served faithfully until her health prevented. Essie had no children of her own but she faithfully raised a niece, Dorothy Evans at El Cireto, CA; nephews, Jimmy Ray Thompson and David Thompson of Trumann, AR. She was mom to them all. She also leaves to cherish her loving memory, Three sisters Ruth Brown of Trumann; Juanita Parker of Memphis TN, Utah Clark of Tampa, FL; One brother, Mucie Calvert of Chicago ILL; a brother-in-law Mozell Brown of Trumann; One special niece Phyllis Laird of Sacramento CA; 41 other nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends. Interment: Tulot Cemetery, Tulot Arkansas.
Mrs. Billie Faye Hundley, 67, of Jonesboro, died Thursday (Dec. 30, 1999) at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. She had lived in Jonesboro for two years, formerly of Trumann, where she was born. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hope and was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Bobby E. Hundley of the home; two sons, Earl Wayne Hundley of Lexington, SC, and Ronald Dale Hundley of Cherokee Village; three daughters, Linda L. Hundley and Patricia L. Hundley, both of Chester, VA, and Tonya Michelle Hundley of Jonesboro; her mother, Rowena Glendening of Jonesboro; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with Dr. Jerry Wilcox officiating. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro. Pallbearers will include Charles Hundley Jr., Fred Farmer, Keith Spranger and Brent Hundley. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 morning until time for the services.
Ira Walter Hunt, 83, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, February 23, at his home. A Retired farmer, he was born in Harrisburg October 18, 1904, and was the son of the late Thomas William and Laura Etta Harris Hunt. His wife, Mrs. Lora Hazel McCulley Hunt, preceded him in death. Also a son, Lonnie Hunt and a daughter, Mrs. Francis Slaton. Surviving are two sons, Billy Hunt and Bobby Hunt, both of Harrisburg; three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Lee Adams of Harrisburg, Mrs. Flora Jean Dunlap of Marked Tree and Mrs. Kay Ann Arnold of Plain Dealing, LA; one brother, Clay Hunt of Michigan City, IN, one sister, Mrs. Alma Pippenger of Trumann, 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, in the chapel of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Dobbins of Trumann officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery near Harrisburg under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Lora Hazel Hunt, 78, of 708 Florida Street, Harrisburg, died at 3:15 Saturday afternoon at Geriatrics in Jonesboro. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hamilton McCulley, and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Ira Hunt; three sons, Billy Hunt, Bobby Hunt and Lonnie Hunt, all of Harrisburg; three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Lee Adams of Harrisburg, Mrs. Flora Jean Dunlap of Marked Tree, and Mrs. Kay Ann Arnold of Plain Dealing, LA; two sisters, Mrs. Jewell Bogan of St. Louis, MO, and Mrs. Lucy Moseley of Edgewater, FL; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Jackson Funeral Home chapel at 2:00 Monday afternoon with Brother F.S. Durham officiating. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's. Pallbearers were Tommy Kocher, Mike Smith, Johnie Branum, Billy Eastin, Sidney "Happy" Parker and Donald Arnold.
Mrs. Newt Hunt Dies Wednesday Night Mrs. Mattie Belle Hunt, of this city, wife of John Newt Hunt, died at 7:50 Wednesday morning, April 27 at the Jonesboro Hospital. Mrs. Hunt suffered a stroke on Saturday, April 23rd. Mrs. Hunt was born in Harrisburg, December 24, 1901 and was 53 years of age. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, John Newt Hunt of Harrisburg; her mother, Mrs. Hannah E. Carter of Harrisburg; three sons, Jessie Thompson of Pohokee, FL, Charles Thompson of Memphis, TN, Guy Thompson of Cottage Grove, OR; one step-son, J.R. Hunt of the U.S. Navy in Guam; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Thomas of Michigan City, IN, and Mrs. Milton Chavers of Harrisburg; one step daughter, Mrs. G.W. Mills of Harrisburg; two brothers, jack Lowe of Harrisburg and Sam Lowe of Marion, IN; one sister, Mrs. W. D. Gresham of Lindsey, Calif.; and eleven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church; here Friday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Carl Applin of Dyees, assisted by the pastor, Rev. L.H. Davis of Harrisburg. Burial followed in The Old Harrisburg Cemetery with Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbears were: Eugene Gradly, Earl Condran, Dave Griffin, Hugo Schwarts, Roy Eastin and Rhea Eastin.
Raymond Huskey, 76, of Trumann, died Wednesday at the Regional Medical Center of NEA. A Baptist, he operated Huskey's Grocery in Trumann for 35 years. He was an Army Engineers veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Huskey of the home; one son, Bobby Huskey of Trumann; three daughters, Evelyn Mitchusson of Jonesboro, Jane Furnish of Trumann and Lori Bunch of Colquitt, GA; one brother, Monroe Huskey of Saffell; three sisters, Verna Ballard of Arizona, Florene Harris and Devone Northcutt, both of Strawberry; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with Mark Constant and Tad Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in Ward Cemetery at Strawberry. Pallbearers will be Carrell Gene Huskey, Steve Huskey, Jerry Huskey, Junior Huskey, Ricky Huskey and Randal Northcutt. Honorary pallbearers will include Leonard Holt, Bill Cook, J.P. Penter, Mike Cook and Mark Wrench. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
