Sloan Jackson Dailey, 83, of Hughes, Ark., self-employed commercial fisherman, died of heart failure Monday at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with burial in Marked Tree Cemetery in Marked Tree, AR. He was a Baptist. Mr. Dailey, the husband of Pamela Dailey, also leaves four daughters, Vickie McCollum of Hughes, Bessie NellDailey and Katy Carter, both of Marked Tree, and Dora Jean Layman of Jonesboro, AR; three sons, Jimmy Rollon Dailey of Marked Tree, Sloan Dailey Jr. of Atlanta and Danny Ray Dailey of Hughes, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Davis, Eddie L.

Eddie L. Davis Sr., 66, of Marion died Wednesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. Formerly of Marked Tree, he was a heavy equipment mechanic for Barton Equipment and was of the Methodist belief. Survivors include his wife, Betty Davis of Marion; a daughter, Brenda York of Marion; a son, Eddie Lee Davis Jr. of Rivervale; a brother, Robert K. Davis of Rockford, IL; two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10 at Murphy Funeral Home chapel in Marked Tree. Burial will be in Marked Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Dennis W. Daniel, 33, of Trumann, died Saturday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. He was employed by World Color and was a member of Refuge General Baptist Church. He was a lifetime resident of Trumann and was a 1984 graduate of Trumann High School. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edwin and Lora Daniel. Survivors include his wife, Michelle Daniel of the home; two sons, Hunter Daniel and Shawn Daniel, both of the home; his parents, A.C. and Norma Daniel of Trumann; and one brother, Bobby Daniel of Trumann. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 at Refuge General Baptist Church in Lake City, with Larry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Neal Maxwell, Gary White, Scott Neal, Ronnie Dye, Melvin Dycus, Jay Nance, Dale Kent and Kirk Whitman. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening at Roller-Farmers Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Ruby "Otto" Deboard, 87, 220 Patterson, Trumann, who died Tuesday at his home, will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at Freer Baptist Church near Trumann, with Rev. Bert Hargett and Rev. Mark Constant officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Active pallbearers will be Clyde Murray, Bobby Dement Jr., Delbert Reeves, Michael Deboard, David Deboard, Wayne Deboard, Nolan Clover and Charles Bradsher. Honorary pallbearers will be Arrie Goodwin, Darrell Butler, Daniel Worsley and Norman Francis Sr. Visitation will be held from 5 this afternoon until 8 this evening at the funeral home. Mr. Deboard was born Jan. 14, 1913 in Athens, AL, and had lived in Trumann since 1932. He was retired as a farmer and employee of the Singer Company and was a foster grandfather for the Children's Colony and Crowley's Ridge Headstart Program. He was a member and deacon for over 40 years at the Freer Baptist Church in Trumann. Survivors include his wife, Susan Olia Deboard of the home; three sons, Grady Paul Deboard of Trumann, and James Edward Deboard and William David Deboard, both of Huntingtown, MD; three daughters, Helen Louise Dement Whitlow of Jonesboro, Ellen Irene Goodwin of Wilmington, IL, and Judy Ann Murray of Trumann; a brother, Bruce Deboard of Paragould; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Wayne DeBoard, one daughter, Mary Katherine Pogue Laughlin, four sisters and six brothers and was the son of the late Willie Noah and Cora Lee Campbell DeBoard.

Arnold DeLoach, 87, of Buffalo, TX, died Wednesday. Born at Batesville, he was a longtime resident of Lepanto. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Richmond of Marshall and Jane Cooper of Buffalo; two sisters, Winnie Price of Hot Springs and Anna Lee Thompson of Lepanto; two brothers, Norman "Poolie" DeLoach of Hartford, MI and Thomas "Preacher" DeLoach of Memphis, TN, four granchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleda DeLoach, three sister and one brother. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto. Burial will follow in Potter Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hollis Denton, 81, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday at White River Medical Center of Batesville. He was a retired auto mechanic and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include four sisters, Billie Ward of Marked Tree, Tommie Pruett of Trumann, and Ola Downs and Grace Barry, both of Memphis, TN; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this morning at 11 at the Murphy Funeral Home chapel in Marked Tree. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery.

Mrs. Eileen Bradley Denton, 86, of Tyronza, formerly of Harrisburg, died Wednesday morning at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. A homemaker, she was born in Tyronza. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert A. Bradley and Chauncey L. Denton Jr., and by one son. Surviving are one daughter, Sandy Mills of Harrisburg; one sister, Gene Clements of Kansas City, MO; three stepsons, Trey Denton of Memphis, TN, David Denton of Tyronza and Chris Denton of New Orleans, LA.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held this morning at 10 in the Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas, with Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.

Charles Talley DeWhitt, 77, of Fisher, died Saturday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. A native of Leachville, he was a retired farmer and member of the Oak View Baptist Church in Greenfield. Survivors include his wife, Bessie DeWhitt of the home; two sons, Jerry Don DeWhitt of Little Rock and Fred Ray DeWhitt of Higden; one daughter, Janice Strange of Fisher; one brother, R.A. DeWhitt Jr. of Fisher; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be this morning at 10 in the chapel of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home. Butch Parks will officiate. Burial will follow in Fisher Cemetery. Pallbearers include Joey Easter, Johnnie McDermott, John Taylor, Ronnie Strange, Kevin DeWhitt, Brian DeWhitt, Brad DeWhitt and Rick Ferguson.

C. M. Dodd, 77, of Fisher, died Wednesday at his home. A retired farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church at Fisher, he was a WWII Army veteran, serving in the 11th Armored Div. of the 3rd Army under Gen. Geo. S. Patton Jr. He served in the battle of the Bulge and was severely wounded. He was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Kaiser and Marilyn Yergler, both of Fisher, and Leona Colson of Gainsville, FL; one brother, James Dodd of Webster Groves, MO; a sister, Kathleen Glenn of Fisher; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Anges Dodd, and a brother. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 at the First United Methodist Church of Fisher, with Rev. Linda Ray and Rev. Tommy Toombs officiating. Burial will follow in the Fisher Cemetery under the direction of Langford's Funeral Services of Jonesboro. Active pallbearers will be William Glenn, Roger Cheney, Tommy Malone, Terry Malone, Wendal Malone and Rodney Shelley. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Conaway, Guy Bradsher, Winford E. Sanders, L.B. Maynard, G.W. Brown and J.W. Davis. Visitation will be Friday morning from 10 until noon at the church. The family request that lasting memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Fisher or the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center's Hospice program.

Donald Drace, 76, of 306 Broadway, Marked Tree, died Wednesday at Three Rivers Nursing Center in Marked Tree. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tyronza, a retired farmer and a prisoner of war during World War II. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Palmer of West Memphis and Kathy Neil of Chapin, SC; a son, Joe Drace of Tyronza; two sisters, Dorothy Mock of Holt Summit, MO, and Peggy Provost of Marked Tree; eight grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Tyronza Cemetery with Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree in charge of arrangements. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Tyronza.

Mrs. Martha A. Pitts Drum, 53, of Harrisburg, AR died Monday, May 17, 2004 in Jonesboro. Mrs. Drum was born December 2, 1950 in Morristown, TN, the daughter of Lester and Ellouise Myers. She married David R. Drum on July 21, 1979. Mrs. Drum was a homemaker and a member of Holly Springs Jesus Name Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed going to church and was a youth teacher. Mrs. Drum enjoyed hunting frogs and spending time outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of twenty-four years, David R. Drum of Harrisbug; five daughters, Brenda Long, Moriah Drum, and Tammy Grant all of Harrisburg, Tonya Baskins of Nashville, TN, and Penny Drum of TX; one son David Drum II of Harrisburg; one sister Judy Carrey of Morristown, TN; fourteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at Jackson?s Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Harles Banks officiating. Interment will be in Holly Spring Cemetery. Funeral services for Paul Edwin Dudley, 87, of Jonesboro, formerly of Trumann, who died Wednesday, May 2, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, of natural causes, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Trumann, with the Rev. Pat Sims officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Pallbearers will be David Moore, David Davis, Kenneth Stockton, Bobby Davis, K.W. Webb and Dale Walton. Born June 15, 1913, in Turrell to William A. and Winnie Ellen Wright Dudley, Mr. Dudley had lived most of his life in Trumann before moving to Jonesboro 10 years ago. He was a member of Trumann United Methodist Church and was the retired owner of Dudley Furniture Company in Trumann. He served on the Trumann City Council and in other elective and appointed posts. A Navy veteran, he served in the South Pacific during World War II and had been an amateur radio operator since 1937. He was a pilot and member of the Experimental Aircraft Association chapter in Jonesboro. Survivors include a daughter, Aileen Walton of Vancleave, Miss.; a son, William Edwin Dudley of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Dudley, and by two sisters and one great-grandson. Mr. Dudley was preceded in Death by his wife, Evelyn Dudley, in 1994, one great-grandson, Charles Taylor Loggins, two sisters and his parents. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Janis Lynne "Jan" Young Dupuis, 50, 700 Wilson Drive South, Cheraw, SC, formerly of Trumann, died Friday at her residence. Born Nov. 30, 1949, in Harrisburg, she lived in South Carolina after residing in Trumann. She was self-employed secretary and creator of a Web site for parents of Hyperactive children. Mrs. Dupuis graduated from Trumann High School in 1968 and was active in promoting the E circle.com program, which brought many former THS students together via e-mail. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cheraw. Survivors include her husband, James Dupuis of the home; one daughter, Jacquelyn Elizabeth of the home; her parents, John & Dorothy McCarty of Trumann; one sister, Mrs. Linda Young Knaper of Hot Springs; and two brothers, Roger McCarty of Lenoir, NC, and Michael McCarty of Fort Worth, TX. Funeral services will be at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at Trumann's First Baptist Church, under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann. Rev. Tad Rogers and Rev. Jamison May will officiate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dutton. Visitation will be from noon until service time this afternoon at the funeral home.
