Christopher Hawkins
HAWKINS EMERY POPEJOY COOPER
According to my great-great-aunt, my great-great-grandfather, John William Hawkins, is buried in Nichols Cemetery, in or near Marked Tree. Just wondering if someone would be kind enough to check the headstone for birth and death dates. I'm trying to check if a John Hawkins I found in the 1900 census is the right one. Year of birth should be 1880 or 81. Year of death should be around 1920-22.
Also, if anyone has any other information about him, I would appeciate it. He married Cordelia (Cordia) Emery in 1900 and their children are Floyd (my ggf), Hazel, Pauline, Christine and Clyde. Floyd was born in Independence County, but the family moved east in AR. Floyd was working in Wilson, AR, in 1936 and he married Ruby Popejoy whose parents, George and Mary Ellen (Cooper) Popejoy are buried in Potter Cemetery.

He was the Sheriff of Marked Tree, and his wife, Hazel (Maiden name WHITE) ran a small hotel in town. They had a son named Albert VAUGHN born in 1927 and a daughter named Bettye Jean VAUGHN (my mom) born in 1928.
