Jerry McKelvy has researched some places in the county other than Union
Township which his book is about. He plans to list these places with a little information about
each. These were mainly old communities with a post office, a store or two, a school, and some
churches. Most existed for only a short time, but some are still around. The book he published,
entitled "Have You Ever Been To Gooseankle?-The Story of Union Township, Nevada
County, Arkansas" (about 200 pages-spiral bound and photo-copied) contains
information about Union Township.
Jerry says: "I am not really trying to sell more books. It gets to be a hassle to have them printed.
I have three copies on hand now. I sell them for $15.00, but if I have to mail them I have to get
19.95 to cover cost of envelope and postage. Following is an idea of what's included. I
would be happy to look up info. or correspond with those interested in that area and if
they just have to have one, I will have some more printed up. If they just want selected parts of
the book, I could sell those cheaper (not bound into booklet)"
