New Hope Cemetery

Keevil, Monroe County, Arkansas

Directions: Take Highway 79N from Clarendon, go approx 2.7 miles, turn left onto Hwy 17N. Go approx 5.3 miles and turn right at Hwy 241. Go approx .5 miles, there is an old driveway on the right, it is beside a broken down house with the yard overgrown. On the other side of the Hwy is a street sign that says “Woods Ln”, turn right here. Approx .3 miles is the cemetery. There are no signs and it cannot be seen from the road b/c of the fields surrounding it.

The cemetery is extremely well kept. Anytime I go there to visit my parents, it has always been mowed and cleaned. There are several tombstones with flowers around them that bloom every year. It is my belief that since the only perennials growing are around gravesites, there are possibly 4 or 5 unmarked graves. It’s not a big cemetery or a well known one but nevertheless, it’s there.

I dedicate this to my mother who was killed in an automobile accident earlier this year. We all miss her and love her, but as for myself, I know that she’s where she was meant to be…laying beside my daddy (step-father), flying with the angels, AT PEACE.
