Sophia Fortune Weast - b. 9 Nov. 1801, d. 7 June 1889
This rare photo was in the possession of my grandmother, Nettie Weast McGavock. Sophia was her grandmother. She remembered her having red hair. The hand writing is from the back side of the photo. Sophia was born in NC, moving to AR. She and Adam Weast raised 11 children in NC and AR. She managed to survive the terrible times of Marion County during the Civil War. Her death is recorded in the Mountain Echo but we have not located her grave. (thanks Gladys Brown) See Weast family lines in Family Genealogies for more.
