Dec 27, 1865, Oakland, Coles County, Illinois. This photo was made shortly before Dr. Orcutt and his family relocated to Marion County, Arkansas, and settled on land bought from Jacob Yocham on the White River that would be known first as Orcutt Flat, and later Oakland, Arkansas. Augustus Caulincourt Orcutt, Sr. died of stomach cancer December 29, 1875 at Orcutt Flat and was buried in the dooryard of the Orcutt home, and re-interred in 1893 to the new Oakland Cemetery at the Methodist Church, which was later moved at the formation of Bull Shoals Lake into nearby Baxter County. Thus to date Augustus Orcutt has received three separate burials.
