James W. Norton was born 1831 probably Hardeman Co., TN. He was the son of Messer & Margaret (Unk) Norton. He married Nancy M. Highfill, 26 Jan 1853 in Hardeman Co., TN. Nancy was the daughter of: Jeremiah & Artimissa (Scott) Highfill. It is believed that James W. Norton's wife died of typhoid fever ca. 1893 and is buried in the Norton Cemetery in Pyatt, AR. (no tombstone) Sometime afterward he moved into I.T./OK and is buried in the Blanchard Cemetery, McClain County, OK.
