Here is a four generation photo of me, my father, grandfather and great grandfather. Photo was taken in 1932 in the community of Cowan Barrens which is about 5 miles south of Yellville. Sylvester donated part of the land used by the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Back left is Sylvester Cheek, b 3 Jun 1845 Forsyth Co., GA, Homesteaded in Marion Co., AR sometime after the Civil War. Back right is Sylvester's son Charlie Sylvester Cheek. Front holding baby is Charlie's son Andy Sylvester Cheek Baby is me, J.C. (John Charles) Cheek. Thanks for the great web site. (Mel) Cheek. Mel Cheek and Charlie Sylvester Cheek were brothers. You are doing a great job with this web site. It may just be the best in Rootsweb. )
