Marion Co TOC

Here is a four generation photo of me, my father, grandfather and great grandfather. Photo was taken in 1932 in the community of Cowan Barrens which is about 5 miles south of Yellville. Sylvester donated part of the land used by the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Back left is Sylvester Cheek, b 3 Jun 1845 Forsyth Co., GA, Homesteaded in Marion Co., AR sometime after the Civil War. Back right is Sylvester's son Charlie Sylvester Cheek. Front holding baby is Charlie's son Andy Sylvester Cheek Baby is me, J.C. (John Charles) Cheek. Thanks for the great web site.

(Update From John: Hi Linda: In the Photo Gallery the two Cheek photos labeled The Susan (Thompson) Cheek Family and Four Generations of the Cheek Family are tied together as follows: Susan Thompson Cheek was the wife of N.M. (Mel) Cheek. Mel Cheek and Charlie Sylvester Cheek were brothers. You are doing a great job with this web site. It may just be the best in Rootsweb. (Thanks for the kind words John! Linda)
