Mahala Catherine Upton was born 1851 in Madison co, the daughter of John Wesley Upton & Martha (Bowen) Upton, living all her life in Madison County, Ar, she died 1917/1918, she married John N Harris 1872 in the town of Pettigrew, Ar, John was born August, 1851, died March1, 1905, he was the son of James Jackson Harris & Julie Ann (Sexton) Harris. John's brother Robert Harris married Ducina Elizabeth Upton, Mahala's sister.

Mahala & John are buried in an unmarked grave in the Boston cemetery, Madison couny.
Mahala & Ducina lived next door to each other.

The four children of Mahala & John N Harris were:

1. Martha Ann Harris born July 26, 1873, in Madison Co, died Febuary 13, 1950. married Abraham (Abe) Coleman their oldest child was Nelson Coleman.

2. James H Harris born June 1876,in Madison Co, married Susan Vicks. children, John, Lola and more, died in Maude, Oklahoma in the 1950's.

3. Sarah Elizabeth Harris born February 1881, in Madison county, married George W Sisemore and their children were, George, Fred, Sidney, Lloyd, Lola & Ernest, Sarah Elizabeth died November 16, 1916  in Madison Co, after giving birth to her last child,

4. John Henry Harris born October 30,1883 in Madison County, he married Martha Jane Ritchie in 1901 in Pettigrew, Ar, they had 10 children, Guy, Ivan, Claudia, Ruby, Ruth, Dallas, Fern, Gordon, Gladys and Audrey Harris. He died 1958 in Boise, Idaho, he is buried in Morris Hill cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
