We know very little about the family of JAMES W HARRIS, he was John Henry Harris's only brother.
Irene Fipps who was the grandaughter of MARTHA ANN (HARRIS) COLEMAN a sister of John Henry Harris, she told Doris he died in Maud, Oklahoma. Several years ago, Doris Dewberry, who is a descendent of Martha E Harris, sister of John N Harris, John Henry Harris's father, found his death date and got his obituary. Two daughters survived, one lived here in Arkansas, she since has died and the other lived in Texas. An elderly lady who knew or was related to the Brisons told Doris about Victoria, James wife, her name was Victoria Susan Brison, everyone called her Aunt Vic, She said that James W Harris "just got up and just left" his wife and family, we do not know why, she knew nothing about him after he went to Oklahoma, Doris did not have the ladies address.
Mary Brehm who is the grandaughter of Elizabeth
Harris, who was another sister of John Henry Harris, said that she wrote
Irene Fipps a number of years ago, Irene has since passed away, anyway
she said that Martha Ann Harris had 18 children, 4 died in infancy, but
14 children grew into adulthood, so there must be descendents somewhere
of all those children.
Mary Brehm recently found an old letter
, written in 1979, from Irene Fipps, (grandaughter of Martha Ann
(Harris) Coleman, her dad was Martha & Abraham (Abe) Coleman's oldest
child, Nelson Coleman. She mentioned that Nelson lived to be 85 years old
and he died in 1974, Irene had wrote "Dad told me that John N Harris was
of English descent and Mahala was of English descent, she also said that
John N Harris was a shoe cobbler, her father also told her that he remembered
his grandpa Harris
killing small game and tanning the
skins for shoe laces, very interesting.
