Township Map and Boundaries
Please scroll down for further county information and a map of
Arkansas in 1895, this may help some who know the city of their
ancestors but are not sure of the township, however, not all are
listed.
I have tried to match the cities or towns with the townships,
you may have to check more than one township on some of these.
Corrections to this are gladly taken. A couple of City/Towns have
information on them below that were taken from the History of
Lincoln County book.

Created: March 28, 1871
Parent Counties: Arkansas, Bradley, Desha, Drew, and Jefferson
Progeny County: Cleveland 1873
County Boundary Changes: Part annexed to Desha March 10, 1879, line
with Arkansas changed March 25, 1895, and with Desha March 27, 1925.
County Seat: First Meetings were held in Cane Creek Church, then
permanent
location at Star City.

Lincoln County Township Boundaries
Lincoln County was created March 20, 1871; a part was
transferred to
Desha County, March 10, 1879. It is bounded north by Jefferson and
Arkansas
Counties, east by Desha County, south by Drew County, and west by
Cleveland
and Jefferson Counties. It is divided into eleven political townships,
named as follows: Spring, Bartholomew, Choctaw, Kimbrough, Auburn,
Owen,
Cane Creek, Wells Bayou, Smith, Mill Creek and Lone Pine.
The parent Counties of Lincoln County were: Arkansas, Bradley,
Desha,
Drew, and Jefferson.
SPRING TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north by Jefferson County, east
by Bartholomew
Township, south by Cane Creek and Owen Township, and west by Jefferson
and Drew Counties. Formed from Jefferson County in 1871.
BARTHOLOMEW TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north by Jefferson County,
east by
Jefferson County, and Choctaw Township, south by Cane Creek Township,
and
west by Spring Township. Formed from Jefferson County in 1871.
CHOCTAW TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north by Kimbrough Township,
east by
Auburn and Wells Bayou Township and Desha County, south by Wells Bayou
and Cane Creek Townships, and west by Bartholomew Township. Formed from
Arkansas County in 1871.
KIMBROUGH TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north by Jefferson and
Arkansas Counties,
east by Auburn Township and Arkansas County, south by Choctaw Township,
and west by Choctaw Township and Jefferson County. Formed from Arkansas
County in 1871.
AUBURN TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north and east by Arkansas
County, east
by Desha County, south by Desha County and Choctaw Township, west by
Choctaw
Township, and west and north by Kimbrough Township. Formed from
Arkansas
County in 1871.
OWEN TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north by Cleveland County and
Spring Township,
east by Cane Creek Township, south by Mill Creek Twonship, and west by
Cleveland County. Formed from Drew County in 1871.
CANE CREEK - is bounded, north by Spring, Bartholomew and
Choctaw Townships,
east by Choctaw and Smith Townships, south by Smith, Lone Pine and Mill
Creek Townships, and west by Cleveland County. Formed from Drew County
in 1871.
WELLS BAYOU TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north by Choctaw Township,
east by
Desha County, south and west by Smith Township, and west by Choctaw
Township.
Formed from Desha County in 1871.
SMITH TOWNSHIP - is bounded north by Cane Creek Township, east
by Wells
Bayou Township and Desha County, south by Drew County, and west by Cane
Creek and Lone Pine Townships. Formed from Desha and Drew Counties in
1871.
MILL CREEK TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north by Owen and Cane Creek
Townships,
east by Lone Pine Township, south by Drew County, and west by Cleveland
County. Formed from Drew County in 1871.
LONE PINE TOWNSHIP - is bounded, north by Cane Creek Township,
east
by Smith Township, south by Drew County, and west by Mill Creek
Township.
Formed from Drew County in 1871.
