Welcome to Lee County, Arkansas
Albert S. Wilsford
My Great Uncle Albert S. Wilsford was one of two physicians who practiced medicine in the town of Moro, Arkansas when it's population was about 75 people.
Born October 26, 1867, Albert Wilsford moved to Moro as a young man. He served in the Arkansas legislature as a representative for Lee county in 1933. He served as president of the Moro school board for 49 years, and only missed a very few times delivering the diplomas to the Seniors of the Moro High School. He was the Sunday School superintendent of the Methodist church.
I have a picture of the Wilsford home there. One of the residents currently in Moro remembers Old Doc Wilsford as he calls him, giving him his childhood vaccinations. He remembered a Bull Dog on Doc's desk. When asked if it was real he said no, but at the time due to a little boys perspective, it looked real enough and "skeered" him to death. Now Moro has grown to about 300 people and has no physicians.
Doc Wilsford died in 1938.
