Some of my ancestors lived in Phillips/Lee County in the Civil War and post Civil War period. The family was living in Bear Creek Twp, Jeffersonville Post Office, at the time of the 1860 census (head of household was a J. B. HARDIN. The HARDIN should have been HARTIN, but was often mistook for HARDIN, or HORTON, or HARDEN. J. B. HARDIN owned land in Sec 11, T11, R4 at about that time and I think for several years later on.

I am looking for info on my great grandfather. I REALLY want to know his parents' names as I am missing 2 surnames to have the 5th generation family tree from me. His name was James Orval BOOZER and he was born in TN I believe. He married Mary Jane CHENEY who died in Pocahontas Arkansas (Randolph County) in 1983. I know that James Orval spent some time in Marianna in Lee County as he has many hunting licenses from there and one of his children was born in 1938 in Marianna Arkansas. Anyone with any advice would be most appreciated!

My Grand Father was Robert D. JARRATT who lived in Marianna, Ar. He was born 5/27/1880 and married a woman is called Fortie, and I was told she was nickname Todd Annie by the citizens of Marianna. Robert D. JARRATT died 4/27/1971 in Santa Barbara, Ca. His son, my father, Robert Fort JARRATT, was born in Marianna, AR on 1/13/1910 he died 10/18/1987 in Grapevine, Tx. His youngest child was John JARRATT, born 10/13/1914 in Marianna, Ar he died 12/1977 in Pueblo, Co. The oldest child was named Madge JARRATT, born 3/8/1907 in Marianna, Ar. She married Raymond W. Lapham (of Boston, Ma). She died 1986 at Del Ray Beach, Fl. John had one daughter, name of Pattibelle, who is married unknown last name now, she last resided in Cleveland, Oh. I am attempting to learn the correct name of my grandmother. She belonged to the DAR. This family moved to San Antonio some time in the 1920's or 1930's. I met a family by the name of Apple that was friends of the family. I believe the Apple family still resides in Marianna. If there is any information I can obtain about my family or give you further information I thank you.

My grandfather was Joseph Lymon RICE or possable Lymon Joseph RICE he was married to Naomi JACKSON they had a son Carl RICE believed born Jan 1930 also a daughter Mary Winiferd or Winiferd Mary RICE They owned a farm in Lee County. Any help would be most appreciated.

While looking for parents/family of Theodore/Theodis Roosevelt GAY (b. circa 1890-1905 Marianna, Lee County, Arkansas) I found him. Yeah! His father's name is indexed and recorded as "Gam" which I find no where else in any record! So, I must believe, at least until I can prove or disprove it, that Gam is a misread indexed given name or a nickname.
So now I am searching for Rose' last name and the full name of the man she married. They are listed (in 1920 Census) with children: Viola (age 20, b. 1899-1900) and T. Roosevelt Gay (age 15 b. 1904-5). T. Roosevelt married Aretha Jones (daughter of King Moses Jones and ??) around 1920-21) and had Theodis Robert Gay 16 Mar 1921. Family information is that T. Roosevelt died about 1927-28 and his wife, Aretha died soon after.
Any help or leads from SKS (some kind soul) will be greatly appreciated.

On April 13 1935 my Grandad Levi F. YANDELL was murdered in Lee Co. near Haynes or Marianna, Ar, By a Man named E. M Christion and three of his sons. They also shot my Grandmother Loretta (FORGA) YANDELL, Twice wounding her in the hip, My dad said they shot grandad twice then cut his throat. Is there anyone that can verifiy this, or do a look up for me will pay any and all expenses.

Recently I received an obituary for my g grandfather, which said "Mr NEWMAN moved here (Memphis, Ten) in 1904 from Brickeys, Arkansas, where he was a farmer". John Wesley NEWMAN was born in Ontario, Canada, where he was a cheesemaker and dairy farmer. He married Eleanor Cole (in Ontario, I think). I hadn't previously known that he was in Arkansas at all, and I wonder if there was a census around this period, which might show him and his family. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been searching for my ggfather, James Edward CURLISS, b. 1851 (maybe) in IL, d. 1899 in OK, for YEARS! I just found on FamilySearch.com a James E. CURLISS, Spouse: Sarah R. COLLINS, married 11 Feb. 1875 in Lee Co. AR. FamilySearch could not give me a source. Also, found on FamilySearch a James Edward CURLISS, b. 1854 in Chicago, Cook Co. IL, d. 1899. FamilySearch could not give me a source for this information, either. I feel pretty certain that one or both of these men is my ggfather, and going nuts wanting to find who submitted this info to FamilySearch. Does anyone know anything about these men and/or Sarah Collins? Thanks.
