I would appreciate information about what style of architecture is the old funeral home on Main Street in Marianna, Arkansas in Lee County. When was it built? Was it ever a private home? It is the most unusual shaped building. It was Flowers Funeral Home when I was a child in Marianna. F. C. "Doc" Flowers was the director then. Where are his children living now? They are Gloria, Charles, and Sandra. Also, I would like information about Dr. William Hays as to when he first came to Marianna, Arkansas and where he was born and went to college.

My father was James BATES born in Brickeys ,AR in 1926 to Jim and Rosie BATES. Jim was born in 1893 in Haynes, AR to Frances BATES. I'm not sure if BATES is Frances maiden or married name. We are African-American, but my aunts tell me that Frances was white. I hope someone knows something about this family.

I am searching for information on my great grandfather and great grandmother, Green and Laura GATEWOOD. They had five children born in Marianna, Arkansas beginning around 1868. Green and Laura said they were born in Georgia. It is believed that they both died in Arkansas. Green died first, Laura married a man by the name of Aaron PASQUAL (sp?), I believe. I need as much info as possible on Green because I have none. Estimated birth year is 1846, based on the 1880 census. I don't know what year they died but am assuming they're buried in Marianna, Ark or the whereabouts. If you or anyone you know have info on this couple, please email me. Searching for information on the McANULTY family who settled in Lee county in the 1850s. John A. McANULTY married Mary Ann SHACKELFORD in Marengo Co., AL, and then moved to Lee Co., AR. They had children: Alice, John, William, Catherine and Josephine. John A. McANULTY is thought to have been the son of William McANULTY who died 1808 in NC.

I am trying to find information out on my great grandfather Benjamin Frankin Forbes, he was living in Lee County when he died and my dad was a boy, he remembered him being buried in a cemetery just on the highway outside of Marianna. He would have died between 1950-1952, I can't find anything on him in the SS index and I don't know which cemetery he is buried in. If anyone can help or has any suggestions I would appreciate it. I know he was born about 1882.

Maternal Grandparents: Abe & Lurendia (PRATT) MILES. All of their children were born in Marianna during the years 1893 to 1912.

Seeking information on Lucius U. JONES and George Edward HIGGINS (BRYANT), and Laura JONES and James Lloyd WILLIAMS. Lucius and George were brothers whose father was Jackson JONES. They moved to Lee Co. around 1880 or 1890 from Alabama. Settled in Bearcreek. They are buried at Higgins Cemetery. My grandmother was Laura JONES, daughter of Lucius, who married James Lloyd WILLIAMS who worked in the timber in Lee County. Any information appreciated.

I'm trying to track down my gg-grandmother's parents and something about her (maybe) first husband.
Her name was Margaret A. Elizabeth WITTENBERG (1884-1954) (according to my g-grandmother's death certificate). Her maiden name may have been RAMSEY, since that is on the marriage record to U. G. VAN VLECK in 1880.
They had at least one child, Gilbert H. VAN VLAKE (1880-1930).
My gg-grandmother married my gg-grandfather, Andrew L. SYLAR in 1882. He died in 1887, and she married his son from his first marriage, James W. SYLAR (1860-1927) in 1889.
Any cousins out there looking for SYLAR's, VAN VLAKES and who might know "Granny SYLAR's" maiden name?
