Looking for any information on any member of the HAMNER family in Arkansas, especially
Ozan, Hempstead Co. My grandfather, Andrew Bascom Hamner was born in Tuscaloosa, AL in
1859. He left Tuscaloosa and traveled to Smith Co., Tennessee, where he married my
grandmother, Leonia LUCK (date unknown). I have located a Bascom Hamner born in Ozan,
Hempstead Co., AR, around 1886, whom I believe to be related to my grandfather, perhaps a son.
Mary Ector ROGERS, his wife, was the daughter of James Wesley Rogers and Dora Lena
CITTY. Any information about this Hamner or any other will be appreciated. Jo Hamner White.

I am researching Minerva Nancy TAYLOR and Thomas Conway WILSON, my
g-g-g-grandparents. They were married March 23, 1854 when she was 14 and he was 18. I am
aware of them having at least one child, Emma Jane WILSON born on March 17, 1866. Emma
Jane married Ambrose TAYLOR on December 15, 1886. They had one son, William Claude
TAYLOR on November 11, 1887. Ambrose (a butcher) was killed in August 1888 when a slab of
beef fell on his leg and he bled to death. Emma Jane married Myron TURNER and they had two
daughters, Minnie and Helen. Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated. I
would be more than happy to exchange information on Taylor and HARTSFIELD surnames.
Please submit/request info. to this address: tprestwood@yahoo.com -- Thanks - TJ Prestwood

My grt gf was Wm. I COGBURN born 1872 in Arkansas. Have just found an elderly cousin who
seems to think he was born in Hope, Hempstead Co. His father died prior to his birth, placing this
between abt. July 1871-April '72; a great aunt thinks this was an accident rather than illness and
possibly with a horse. We do not have his name nor anymore about him, which is one of our
primary interests. If Wm. was born in Hope, very possibly this is where his father died. It is
thought this is where Wm's mother remarried. She was Louisa Amanda WHITE and we've also
had difficulty tracing further back in her family. She was born 1854 possibly in GA. She remarried
Adam F. WHISENHUNT. Wm reportedly had uncles Geo. & Andy who came to visit him in
Taylor Co TX from Ark; family history is that they were hiding out from the law at that time. We
have found that Henry (have seen sources report his birth as both TN & SC) & Emmeline
Margaret Johnson Cogburn had sons by the name of Geo & Andrew as well as a Wm b. TN 1851,
which would be an appropriate date for our Wm's father. There seems to be descendant info on
Henry's children, but not on Wm; could he have died young & our Wm named for his father? Is
there anyone out there with family history and/or stories, etc, that can shed a clue on my Wm.
Cogburn and his parents? Anything at all would be so appreciated. Thanks, Sandra
