opportunity to compliment you on a very well done website. I have visited quite a few
Genweb sites over the past six months and yours
has, by far, been the most creative, attractive, informative and
helpful site yet. I came to your site searching
for my great grandmothers family. Her name was SELMA ELEM/ELAM

actually able to find her parents (William R. Elam and Alice Wallis)
marriage on the index you have there. I was
wondering though, how would I obtain a copy of the marriage record.
I would love to have all the information from
it. Thank you for providing such a wonderful site to visit. I have enjoyed
my time there very much. Tonya Equevilley (San

209: Hello Sandy, I am attempting to trace the family
of Albert Lee Kirby who was born 2/10/1890 in Walcott, Greene Co, AR.
He is listed in the household of William and Alice
Elam in the 1900 census as a 9 year old orphan. I believe his parents
were William R. Kerby and Mary Stephens who
were married in Greene County in 1877. William Kerby is listed in the
household of Theophilus H. Newsom and Sarah
"Sally" A. Newsom as a stepson in the 1870 and 1880 census records.
William and Mary Kerby's daughters, Sarah and
Luvenia, are also listed in the 1880 census. I need proof that William and
Mary Kerby were, in fact, Albert Lee Kirby's parents.
I would also like to know what happened to them and how Albert Lee
Kirby ended up with the Elem/Elam family. Thank you
so much for providing us all with such a great website.

Frances died in 1918 in the Paragould Sanitarium. I have request death certificates
for her from the State on 3
different occasions. I have nothing on
her.....she is my Grandmother. She died when she was 32 years
old. It is told
that she had surgery for female problems when,
in fact, her appendix was about to burst and did, killing her. She left 6 children.
Her husband, Joseph Branch, lived on their land just
outside of Paragould. My mother was only 11 years old and had three younger
brothers, 7, 4 and 2 upon Sarah Francis's death
in 1918. My wish: If anyone finds anything regarding Sarah Francis
Thomason Branch, please forward it to me or let
me know. It would be such a gift just to find anything regarding her
death in about April of 1918. It seems
that since she passed away while in the hospital, there should be a death certificate,
but there is not a certificate from the State
of Arkansas. Judi JACUDI@aol.com

268: My grandfather, Walter Bodkin (1891-1970) was orphaned at a young age. He had two younger siblings, not sure of birth order,
Rose(Rosa) and Ira.
My mother indicates that the childrens mother Sarah Bell Bodkin died first, sometime near the turn of the century and their father
Robert died in 1901. The children were split up and went to live with various relatives in
Gibson and Crockett Counties in Tennessee.
My grandfather kept contact with his brother Ira but Rosa(Rose)s new family moved to Arkansas or were perhaps already living there.
She disappeared in her teens, that is, her new family was told she went to work one day but never came back. They were not living in the same community at the time this occurred, one story has it she was working in a hospital in Little Rock.
So Rose, Rosa (one official document lists her as Rosa) was born sometime between 1892 and 1900 in
Gibson or Crockett Counties in Tennessee. I dont know if this story can be trusted but the story goes she was very young when she went to live with a relative of her mother and that they were then or soon after living in
Blytheviile, Arkansas. The married name of the relative she was living with may have been
Sawyer.
Why am I interested in Greene County? An ancestry library search produced a hit on a
Rosa Botkin(Bodkin), a 19 year old, white, domestic servant working for the
James & Martha Gilbert family, Paragould Ward 1. She was born in Tennessee. I would read the census entry as Bodkin not Botkin. I searched your
databases (ARGREENE) for her and the Sawyer family. Nothing on Sawyer, lots of people having that occupation! But did find a
Rosa Bodkins, domestic, r 221 w. court, in your 1908 city directory. Any information on Rosa Bodkin is
greatly appreciated.
