LAKESIDE'S BASKETBALL TEAM COMPLETED ITS SECOND YEAR OF COMPETITION ON MARCH 1, IN THE GREENE COUNTY TOURNAMENT. ALTHOUGH NOT MUCH MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN THE PREVIOUS YEAR, THE TEAM SHOWED CONSIDERABLE IMPROVEMENT AND GAVE HOPE FOR NEXT YEAR. THE SEASON OPENED WITH A HARD FOUGHT 24-20 LOSS TO STANFORD IN THE OAK GROVE TOURNAMENT. BIGGEST THRILL OF THE SEASON FOR THE BOYS OCCURED SOMETIME LATER IN THE STANFORD GYMNASIUM WHEN THE SCALPED THE RAZORBACKS 20-19 IN THE LAST TWO SECOND OF THE GAME. A TOTAL OF SOME 15 GAMES WERE PLAYED INCLUDING THOSE OF THE PARAGOULD INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT IN WHICH THE BRAVES PLAYED OAK GROVE FOR THE CONSOLATION CHAMPIONSHIP, AND WERE PROMPTLY SLAPPED TO THE FLOOR AND SUFFERED THE LOSS OF A FEW SCALPS THEMSELVES.
