Mary J. Whittington Paragould Daily Press 28 October 1943 Mrs. Mary J. Whittington Dies At Her Home Mrs. Mary Jane Whittington, aged 51, died at 10:40 last night at her home 312 East Emerson street, following an illness of six months, due to complications. She had been bedfast for the past three months. A native of Brookland, she had resided in Paragould 31 years. She was the widow of the late A. B. (Chick) Whittington, who died January 24, 1936. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but probably will be held sometime Saturday. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul Matthews and Miss Evelyn Whittington, both of Paragould; one son, Cpl. Robert B. (Chick) Whittington who is in New Guinea; her mother, Mrs. Hattie Crittendon of Brookland; three sisters, Mrs. Will Button of Brookland, Mrs. John Branch of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Cloyed Wilson of Norman, Okla. and one brother, Robert Crittendon of Roger City, Mich.
