Harold Willard Prevett


Funeral services for Harold Willard Prevett, 75, of Paragould, who died Saturday, Aug. 3, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.
The Rev. Royce Boling will officiate, and burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery at Paragould under the direction of Heath Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Harold Cupp, Gary Rawls, Gary Worley, Don Russell, Junior Belk and Leland Stanfill.
Honorary pallbearers will include Ed Pierce, Henry Wood, Glenn Dobbins and Lynn Dobbins.
Born in Pocahontas, he was an Army veteran of World War II and retired as a supervisor from General Motors/Fisher Body in Grand Blanc, Mich., after 31 years of service. He was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Prevett of the home; two sons, Ron Prevett and Tim Prevett, both of Grand Blanc; five daughters, Diane Lawrence of Northville, Mich., Renee Miller of Littleton, Colo., Teresa Verleen of Little River, S.C., Carla Miller of Tequesta, Fla., and Candice Rawls of Paragould; 26 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pinkie Ann Jones Prevett; two brothers; and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Brown's Chapel Baptist Church, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

 

 

Carol June Barcroft


Funeral services for Carol June Barcroft, 65, of Brighton, Tennessee, formerly of Paragould, who died Sunday, Aug. 4, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery at Walcott.
Born in Walcott, she retired as a bookkeeper from Sears Roebuck and Co., where she worked 38 years, and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include her husband, William Earl Barcroft of the home; two daughters, Audrey Wilson of Athens, Ga., and Jill Dillow of Memphis; five grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tuck and Laverne Newsom Willcoxson.
Visitation will be from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Eula E. Lashley


Eula E. Lashley, 89, of Paragould died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 at the Greene Acres Nursing Home. A homemaker, she was a member of Bethel Church of Christ.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Lashley, Dennis Lashley, Sherry Lashley and Jim Lashley, all of Paragould; a daughter, Janie Selby of Fayetteville; two sisters, Wilma Guntharp and Wanda Vermilye, both of Paragould; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lashley; her parents; a brother; three half brothers; and a half sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with Jim Short officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Perry Lashley, Phil Lashley, Shane Bateman, Tim Myrick, Tim Bateman and Mark Bunch.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 



Edith Aurelia Levins


Funeral services for Edith Aurelia Levins, 81, of Paragould who died Monday, Aug. 5, at the Paragould Nursing and Rehab Center will be at 1. p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Wilburn Griggs will officiate, and burial will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery at Paragould.
Born in Manitou, Okla., she was a telephone operator with Forrester Telephone Answering Service and a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Alva Levins of Plano, Texas, and Larry Levins of Denton, Texas; three daughters, Judy Biggers and Gloria Jean James, both of Dallas, and Loretta Perry of San Antonio; 16 grandchildren, David Levins, Cheryl Levins, Jennifer Dickerson, Cody Levins, Ryan Levins, Carol Hilliard, Phillip Parks, Danny Parks, Russell Parks, Andrew Perry, Suzanne Castillo, Deanna Perry, Jeremy Biggers, Brandon Biggers, Rachel Biggers and Tamika Biggers; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Levins; her parents; one sister; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Parks, Andrew Perry, David Levins, Jeremy Biggers, Brandon Biggers and Jason Parks.

 

 

David Scott Jamison


David Scott Jamison, 37, and Philip Alan Jamison, 38, both of Paragould, died Monday, Aug. 5 in Paragould.
Born in Millington, Tenn., David Scott Jamison worked as a welder and was a member of Rector Baptist Church.
He was survived by his wife, Peggy Jamison of the home.

Philip Alan Jamison, a driver for P.A.M. Trucking, also was born in Millington.
He was survived by his wife, Shelley Jamison of Illinois.
In addition, both were survived by their mother, Peggy Jamison of Paragould; a brother, Stephen Jamison of West Memphis; two sisters, Deborah Kendall of Florissant, Mo., and Rebecca Mansfield of Walnut Ridge; and grandparents, Elbert and Jary Jamison of Paragould and Estelle Scharr of Florissant.
They were preceded in death by their father, Benny Jamison.
Memorial services have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, with Dale House officiating.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 

Harriett Louise Pruitt


Graveside services for Harriett Louise Pruitt, 74, of Rector who died Tuesday, Aug, 6, at her residence, will be at 4 p.m. today at Woods Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould. The Rev. LeAndus Hull will officiate.
Born at Columbia, S.C., she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Dolly Pruitt of Rector and Holly Briody of Winter Park, Fla., and one brother, David Latimer of Seattle, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman D. Pruitt; one son; and her parents.

 

 

Mary Tribble Collins


Mary Tribble Collins, 65, of Valles Mines, Missouri, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Parkland Health Center in Bonne Terre, Mo. Born in Jonesboro, she was a homemaker and of the Church of God belief.
Survivors include a son, Terry Gazaway of Festus, Mo.; a daughter, Anita Parmeley of Valles Mines; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Bill Collins; her parents, Erman and Mae Tribble; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home at Paragould, with Earl Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Virgie Hamilton


Virgie Hamilton, 55, of Paragould died Tuesday, Aug. 6, at his residence. Born in Greene County, she was a retired office manager for Express Ready Mix Concrete and a member of Calvary Full Gospel Church in Caldwell, Mo.
Survivors include her husband, J.D. Hamilton Jr. of the home; one stepson, Wade Hamilton of Paragould; one stepdaughter, Evelyn Hamilton of Atlanta; three brothers, Hubert Remagen of Mountain Home, and Junior Remagen and Steve Remagen, both of Paragould; seven sisters, Bonnie Milholen of Haddock, Ga., Mary Etta Pickney of Flippin, Janice Walker of Mountain Home and Roberta Williams, Diane Boone, Stella Forsythe and Gail Blankenship, all of Paragould; and one stepgrandson, Steven Hamilton of Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Leland Dement officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Hartford, Kevin Letson, Bobby Bost, Don Bost, James Godfrey and Lonnie Gibson.

Gary Paul Phillips

 
Funeral services for Gary Paul Phillips, 46, of Paragould, who died Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home chapel with Emmett Smith III officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Columbia, Tenn.
Born in Columbia, he was a safety and environmental engineer for Prestolite Wire and a member of the Mt. Home Church of Christ.
Survivors include his mother, Tisha Phillips of Columbia; one daughter, Allison Marie Miller of Bristol, Tenn.; and one sister, Pam Phillips of Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Paul Phillips, and one sister.
Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.

 

 

Edna Murphy


Edna Murphy, 79, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the West Georgia Hospice in La Grange, Ga. Born at Crowder, Mo., she was retired. She was the former secretary of Greene County Youth Service Bureau, was a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, David Murphy of Knoxville, Tenn., and Ronald Murphy of La Grange; one daughter, Betty Jo Johnson of Cherry Valley; one sister, Velma Rutch Jackson of Jackson, Mo.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Murphy; her parents, and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.
Grandsons Scott Murphy, Chris Murphy, Ray Denham and Kris LaHale will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Ray Clark


William Ray Clark, 70, of Beech Grove died Thursday, Aug. 8, at his residence. Born at Beech Grove, he was a retired farmer, a member of Commissary Church of Christ and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Bowden Clark of Paragould; three sons, Michael Clark and Bradley Clark, both of Beech Grove, and Keith Clark of Paragould; three daughters, Lisa Horton of Beech Grove and Lana Tedder and Tiffany Duty, both of Paragould; one brother, Marvin Clark Jr. of Beech Grove; three sisters, Dorothy Rowe and Virginia Rowe, both of Beech Grove, and Una Payne of Dallas; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with Art Smith, Phil Wilkerson and Darrell Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Paragould.
Pallbearers will include his nephews, Philip Rowe, Mark Rowe, Charles Rowe, Roger Rowe, Bart Rowe, Perry Pogue, Alan Pogue, Randy Clark, Ricky Clark, Clark Thompson, Craig Thompson and Van Bowden.

Frank R. Mills


Frank R. Mills, 86, of Paragould died Thursday, Aug. 8, at his residence. Born at St. Paul, Minn., he was a Jehovah's Witness and a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Mills of Paragould; one daughter, Pamela June Shipley of Paragould; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Brown's Chapel Cemetery in Paragould, with Ernest Lipford officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Pargould is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service has been planned for 4 p.m. Sunday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Paragould.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

 

John W. Brazeal


Graveside services for John W. Brazeal, 64, of Paragould, who died Saturday, Aug. 10, at his residence, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Jerry Thompson and Joey Rupard will officiate. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., he was a Navy veteran and had lived most of his life in Jonesboro, moving to Paragould a year ago. He was a retired printer and a member of Woods Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Brazeal of the home; two daughters, Angela Tounsand of Jonesboro and Johnetta Rountree of San Francisco; a sister, JoAnn Burnett of Kansas City, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Marlo Tounsand, Mary Tounsand and Sara Tounsand.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Irene Rowe


Irene Rowe, 76, of Knobel died Saturday, Aug. 10, at the home of a relative in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Born in Boydsville, she was a member of Union Assembly of God in Knobel.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil Seachrist of Fairdealing, Mo., and Harold Seachrist of Knobel; two daughters, Loretta Smith of Clayton, N.C. and Betty Catt of St. Louis; one sister, Minnie Gillam of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Luther Smart of Ann Arbor, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud A.C. Rowe.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnnie Niswonger offciating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Alex J. Tarapas


Alex J. Tarapas, 78, of Paragould died Saturday, Aug. 10, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born in Porsen, Ill., he was a retired machinist with the American Can Co. in Chicago. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paragould.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Tarapas of Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with John Marconi officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

General Woodrow Prince


General Woodrow Prince, 81, of Marmaduke died Saturday, Aug. 10, in Jonesboro. Born at Delaplaine, he worked for Bebdex Co. and was a member of the Church of God in Paragould.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Prince of the home; one son, James Prince of Marmaduke; two daughters, Aline Bouwknegt and Brenda Fikes, both of Benton Harbor, Mich.; one brother, Linkey Prince of Flint. Mich.; two sisters, Essie Griffith of Essex, Mo., and Gladys Prince; 12 grandchildren, Eddie Prince, Mike Prince, Tony Prince, Mark Prince, Larry Bettig, Ronnie Bettig, Wesley Fikes, Darrell Fikes, Theresa Ott, Ottie Cowgill, Roger Griffith and Debbie Griffith; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Bertha Wilson Prince; and two daughters.
Funeral services are today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke. Burial will follow at Gainesville Cemetery.

 Roy William Chunn


Roy William Chunn, 81, of Paragould died Sunday, Aug. 11, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. Born in Greene County, he was retired from General Motors, was a World War II veteran and attended Shiloh United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Chunn of Flushing, Mich., and Roy W. Chunn Jr. of Boardman, Ohio; one daughter, Rose Cathy of Denver, Iowa; two sisters, Fannie Dinwiddie and Oma Lee Thomason, both of Paragould; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Moneda Chunn; his parents, Omer Taylor and Amelia Oma Kathern Haberling Chunn; one sister; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with Art Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens at Paragould.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mary Marie Thacker

 
Mary Marie Thacker, 85, of Paragould died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Gainsville, she was a homemaker of the Pentecostal belief.

 
Survivors include four sons, Clifford Thacker of Lanett, Ala., Harlie Thacker and Arlie Thacker, both of Paragould, and Jerry Thacker of Oak Grove; four daughters, Dora Araunt of the Biggers-Reyno area, Darlene Jarrett and Brenda Pankey, both of Paragould, and Vonda Rogers of Ripley, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, two brothers, and a sister.

 
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Cody officiating. Burial will follow in Epsaba Cemetery near Paragould.
Visitation will be from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kevin Lee Kibbons



Kevin Lee Kibbons, 35, of Conway died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002 at Conway Regional Medical Center.

Born at Cornwall, N.Y., he was self-employed.


Survivors include one son, Tyler Kibbons of Maumelle; one daughter, Mariah Sky Kibbons of Maumelle; his mother and stepfather, Thelma and Earl Rockwell of Paragould; and his fiancé, Mechelle Hinson of Conway.


He was preceded in death by his father, William Kibbons Sr.


Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Dr. Buster Lackey officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 11a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

 

Perry Vance McMillin


Perry Vance McMillin, 86, of Paragould died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002 at his residence.

Born in Greene County, he was a retired factory worker at General Motors and was a member of the 7th & Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould.
Survivors include a daughter, Jewell Nevaughn Gauthier of Arcadia, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Dar-La Nevaughn Gauthier of Arcadia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Payne McMillin; his parents, Noah and Mattie McMillin; two brothers; and two sisters.

 
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

 

 

Virgil Shearer

Graveside services with military honors for Virgil Shearer, 80, of Paragould, who died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today at New Liberty Cemetery.

Billy Joe Dowdy will officiate. The funeral procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould at 10 a.m.
Active pallbearers will be Bandy Shearer, Jeramia Shearer, Chuck Shearer, Todd Collins, Chuck Brown and Hardy Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers will include Britt McFarland, Tim McFarland, J.D. McFarland, Zachery Shearer and Travis Shearer.

Born in Greene County, he served in the Army during World War II and was awarded five Bronze Stars. He was a retired farmer, a Baptist and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Sunshine Pillow Shearer of Paragould; three sons, Jack Shearer, Roger Shearer and Richard Shearer, all of Paragould; three daughters, Daronda Thompson, Sue Brown and Jaronda Lashlee, all of Paragould; one brother, Wilbourn Shearer of Lapeer, Mich.; one sister, Louise Sims of Michigan; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lucy Harris Shearer; and one grandson.


 

Rodney Gene Hawley


Rodney Gene Hawley, 61, of Halliday died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002 at his residence. A native of Halliday, he was a retired carpenter and a member of Grace United General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Hawley of Marmaduke; a son, Kevin Hawley of Marmaduke; a daughter, Melissa Blackburn of Paragould; two sisters, Sandy Hawley and Polly Hodge, both of Marmaduke; and five grandchildren, Meagan Hawley, Logan Hawley, Morgan Hawley, Hawley Blackburn and Shelby Blackburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Este Lee Sanders Hawley; and a sister.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Marmaduke, with the Rev. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery at Paragould.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at First Baptist Church in Marmaduke.
Active pallbearers will include Jerry Don Nailing, Danny Jernigan, Alan Riggins, Bob Carrell, Adrian Kent, Mitchell Smith, Jerry Richardson, Nate Archibald and David VanHorn.
Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Ambassador Sunday school class at Grace United General Baptist Church.

David Thomas Grimes


David Thomas Grimes Sr., 79, of Paragould died Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Regional Medical Center of NEA. Born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., he was a retired auto mechanic and a member of Trinity Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Grimes of Paragould; three sons, Ronald Gene Crossno and Michael Grimes, both of Paragould, and David Grimes Jr. of Batesville; one brother, James "Dink" Grimes of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Gracie Kinkerfritz of Cave City and Ethel Newell of Lepanto; seven grandchildren, Jerry Crossno, Eric Crossno, Chris Grimes and Jeff Grimes, all of Paragould, Brandi Provance of Pocahontas and Rachel Dixon and Amy Brock, both of Batesville; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with the Revs. Truman Wycoff and Marlin Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery at Paragould.

John W. Lenderman


John W. Lenderman, 70, of Jonesboro died Friday, Aug. 16, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at Nettleton Church of Christ, where he was a member.

 
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Gibson Lenderman of Jonesboro; nine daughters, Rita Lenderman and Lenia Rowe, both of Paragould, Brenda King Farmer of Phoenix, Tina Bodes of Marysville, Wash., Tonya Salmons of Burlington, Colo., Brenda Bryant of Jonesboro, Kay Cupp of Cardwell, Mo., Pam Floyd of Mesquite, Texas, and Angelia Coy of Brookland; six sons, Larry Lenderman of Tyronza, Terry Romans of Cherokee Village, Virgil Wallis of Dallas, Danny Wallis of Jonesboro and Tommy Wallis and Bobby Wallis, both of Paragould; two brothers, Lendy Lenderman and Jerry Lenderman, both of Light; 31 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by two wives, Rachael Rutherford and Margaret McPike, two daughters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Nettleton Church of Christ, with Jimmy Young and Jerry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Knot Cemetery near Paragould.


Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Langford's Funeral Home Chapel.

Jo Murphy, 82, of Paragould, died Friday, Aug. 16, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born in Rector, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Paragould.
Survivors include one son, Charles Murphy of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Christine Fields of San Diego; five grandchildren, Tina Rowden of Searcy, Kacey Murphy and Kaleb Murphy, both of Springfield, Mo., and Christy Steele and Richard Townsend, both of Tupelo, Miss; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. "Pat" Murphy; her parents, Arthur Lynn and Charles Taylor Gibbs; one son; and one brother.

Funeral services for Lucinda Lourine Turner, 37, of Paragould, who died Sunday, Aug. 18, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. today at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel. Matt Crain and Art Smith will officiate, and burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery at Paragould.
Born in Jackson County, she was a retired nurse in the Armed Forces, a Gulf War veteran and a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.

Julia Sides, 81, of Paragould died Monday, Aug. 19, at the Greene Acres Nursing Home. Born in Paragould, she was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Bradley of Longview, Texas, and Deloris Young of Paragould; a brother, Robert Gregg of Lapeer, Mich.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Corrie and Letha Gregg, and two sons.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Greene County Memorial Gardens at Paragould, with Earl McKelvey officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Patrick Young, Paul Young, J.D. Sayre, Randy Bradley, Gary Bradley and Matthew Young.

Keith Albert Gilliam, 36, of Marmaduke died Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born in Paragould, he worked for Emerson Electric and was a member of First Baptist Church in Marmaduke.
Survivors include his parents Foy Wayne Sr. and Barbara Ann Hillenburg Gilliam of Marmaduke; one brother, Butch Gilliam of Marmaduke; and one sister, Kimberly Ann Baldridge of Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Marmaduke, with the Rev. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Ludie May Bolar, 88, of Leachville died Thursday, Aug. 22, at Greene Acres Nursing Home at Paragould. A homemaker, she was a member of the Monette Assembly of God Church. She had lived in the Monette and Leachville areas all her life.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Bolar of Leachville and Bill Bolar of Paragould; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, P.B. Bolar; one daughter; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gregg Funeral Home chapel of Monette, with the Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Ogles of Natick, Mass., and Peter Keyes of Kokomo, Ind.; five daughters, Rita Greer of Paragould, Doris Franklin, Shirley Partian and Flossie Taylor, all of Jonesboro, and Betty Keyes of Senath, Mo.; one brother, Harold Floyd Ogles of Pontiac, Mich.; three sisters, Carma Wentworth of Clearwater, Fla., Mildred Butler of El Centro, Calif., and Loretta Jean Wright of Jonesboro; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Ogles; one daughter; two brothers; and one sister.

Alline Berneice Shatley, 90, of Cardwell, Missouri died Thursday, Aug. 22, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born in Cardwell, she was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell.
Survivors include her husband, Russell A. Shatley of Cardwell; three sons, Leon Shatley of Sterling Heights, Mich., Hughlen D. Shatley of Paragould and Curtis D. Shatley of Jonesboro; three daughters, Ewald B. Frontz of Old Hickory, Tenn., Sharron Burroughs of Hermitage, Tenn., and Carla D. Swindle of Paragould; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by triplet children and five brothers.

Daniel Spears, 63, of Paragould died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born in Paragould, he was a retired snack bar worker and was of the Baptist belief.


Survivors include two sons, Dennis Spears of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Justin Spears of Little Rock; a daughter, Melanie Spears of Carrollton, Ga.; three brothers, Ted Spears of Paragould, Aubrey Spears of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Fred Spears of Little Rock; and two sisters, Barbara N. Walker and Pat Clark, both of Paragould.


Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Shiloh Cemetery, with Scott Neathery officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Meadows Mitchell Sr., 83, of Paragould died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002 at his daughter's residence.

Born in Paragould, he was the owner of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould and was a member of Second & Walnut Church of Christ. A former member of the Paragould Jaycees, he served on the Arkansas Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors from 1968-73, was a past president of that board, was the 1975-76 Arkansas Funeral Director of the Year, was a past president of the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association and was a board member of Memorial Insurance Co. of America.
Survivors include two sons, Dick Mitchell and Bob Mitchell, both of Paragould; two daughters, Caroline Mims and Suzanne Carlton, both of Paragould; a sister, Louranda Hollis of Paragould; five grandchildren, Robert Mims of Oxford, Miss., Jeff Mitchell of Fayetteville, Shane Tripod of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Julie Holmes and Jacob Tripod, both of Paragould; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delois Mitchell; his parents, Randal and Lucy Wyatt Mitchell; a brother; and a sister.

Noah Hampton "Hank" Kisner Jr., 75, of Paragould died Monday, Aug. 26, at his residence.
Born at Leachville, he was a World War II Navy veteran, was retired from L.A. Darling and was a member of the Arbyrd, Mo., Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Noah H. Kisner III of Paragould; two daughters, Brenda Corbit and Rebecca Sikes, both of Paragould; four brothers, John Rufus Kisner of Black Oak, Franklin D. Kisner and Eric Edwin Kisner, both of Leachville, and Charles Henry Kisner of Benton; five sisters, Florence Rogers of Lubbock, Texas, Virginia Austin of Little Rock, Jean Koch of Columbus, Ga., Penny Johnson of Jonesboro and Charlotte Marlow of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Kisner; his father, Noah H. Kisner Sr.; and his mother, Virgie Kisner.

Gary Thomas Gamble, 74, of Gary, Indiana, died Monday, Aug. 26, at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Ind. Born in Jonesboro, he was a veteran, a retired engineer, a member of operating engineers Local Union No. 150 in Chicago and a Mason.
He has no immediate survivors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Clio Street Gamble; a brother; and a sister.

Jerry Dale Miller, 54, of Trumann died Wednesday, Aug. 28, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
A native of Pontiac, Mich., he moved to Trumann from Dyersburg, Tenn., 17 years ago. He had been a Baptist minister for 33 years and was a member at Eastside Baptist Church in Trumann, a church he pastored for 15 years. He was a graduate of Tri-State Baptist College and Williams Baptist College.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Miller of Trumann; one son, John David Miller of Trumann; six brothers, Charley John Miller of Encinitas, Calif., Thomas Bud Miller of Kennett, Mo., Wallace Mack Miller of Cuba, Ala., Roger D. Miller of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Allen Bruce Miller of Hornersville, Mo., and Martin Wade Miller of Senath, Mo.; and one sister, Shelma Henderson of Conway.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daily and Vida A. McDonald Miller, and one brother.

Ardell A. Skaggs, 84, of Pocahontas died Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab. Born in Paragould, he owned Ashcraft Feed Store until 1975 and was a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church in Paragould.
Survivors include his wife, Sybil Boggs Skaggs of Paragould; and two brothers, Paul Glover of Flint, Mich., and Bob Glover of Paragould.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Mae Ellington Skaggs; a sister; and a brother.

Christeen Staggs, 90, of Paragould died Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Paragould Nursing Center. Born in Lake City, she was a retired hospital dietitian and was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Staggs; her parents, David and Emily Metcalf; four brothers; and two sisters.

Wilburn Owen Dodge, Sr

Wilburn O. Dodge, Sr., 81, died Aug. 28, 2002, in Portales, N.M. He was born July 16, 1921, in Arkansas to Mattie Ruth and Luther Edward Dodge.

Mr. Dodge grew up in Arkansas. During World War II, he was a radio operator in the Army Air Corps. When the war ended, he attended Arkansas Tech.

Feb. 17, 1949, he married Albertina Tucker. The family moved to Phoenix in 1950, where he worked as an insurance salesman. He eventually completed his college degree and earned a teaching certificate. In 1967, the family moved to Young where he taught business classes at the local high school for 17 years before retiring in 1984. He and his wife were members of Young Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Albertina Dodge of Portales, N.M.; two sons, Wilburn O. Dodge, Jr. of Glendale, and David Dodge of Lamont, Iowa; three daughters, Karen Rabhi of Anaheim, Calif., Deborah Martin of Covington, Seattle, Wash., and Brenda Dean of Portales, N.M.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at Young Baptist Church in Young.

Gregory Scott Boyd


Gregory Scott Boyd, 34, of Russellville, formerly of Paragould, died Thursday, Aug. 29, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. Born in Paragould, he was a 1986 graduate of Greene County Tech High School in Paragould and attended Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo., where he was an All-American baseball player. A starting catcher on the University of Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team, he participated in two college baseball World Series. He was a member of West Side Church of Christ in Russellville.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn Boyd of Russellville; his parents, Gwendol and Darlene Boyd of Paragould; a brother, Brad Boyd of Mobile, Ala.; and a sister, Darla McCreless of Paragould.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Humphrey Funeral Service at Russellville, with Dan Lightfoot and Paul Harp officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 p.m. in Memorial Gardens at Paragould.

Mr. Omar Neil Smith, 86 of Paragould, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 at his home. He was born May 25, 1916 in Woodruff County.
Mr. Smith was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ, a farmer, and was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department.
He was one of the founding elders of Hillcrest Church of Christ, a recipient of the Trustee Leadership Award for Crowley's Ridge Academy and was a former member of the Crowley's Ridge Academy Development Council.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Floyd and Hester Smith; his wife, Mary Alafa Smith, and two brothers, Emmett Smith, II and J.C. Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by one son, Emmett Neil Smith of Paragould; one daughter and son-in-law, Alice Dean and Harrell Austin of Paragould; four brothers, Bill Smith of Henderson, Tenn., Charles Smith of Greenville, Miss., Keith Smith of Hutchinson Mountain, and D. R. Smith of Paragould; three sisters, Metta Dean Moore of Searcy, Jessie Lou Fondren of Lonoke, and Marilyn Smith of Andalusia, Ala.; two grandchildren, Christy Austin and Robin Austin Wilcox and husband Don; three great-grandchildren, Grant Wilcox, Alicen Wilcox, and Auburn Wilcox.
