Roy David White

 

Roy David White, 61 of Beech Grove, Arkansas died Sunday September 2, 2012 at his residence. He was born March 4, 1951 in Bay, Arkansas.

Survivors include his wife Carrie White of the home, two sisters, Thelma Bradley of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Doris Burnett of Paragould, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, Roy and Clara White, five brothers, Joe, Bill, Ray, Ed and John White and one sister, Lola Mizell.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 5th, 11:30 a.m. at Hartsoe Cemetery with Bro. Rick Ethridge officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday morning prior to services from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include, John White, Charles White, Keith Roberts, Richard “Ricky” White, Carl Russell and Dan Bell.

Dennis Frank Fields

 

Dennis Frank “Chick” Fields, 90, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was born October 14, 1921, in Greene County. Chick was a retired metrologist and a member of Village Creek Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Alene Fields of the home; two sons, Kevin Fields and Mitchell K. Fields; and one daughter, Jackie L. Fenwick, all of St. Louis. He is also survived by one brother, Bill Fields of Los Angeles; and by grandchildren, Jason Fenwick, Jennifer Fenwick DeGraaf, James Fields, Emma Fields, Kiki Fields, and Audrey Fields.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Della Fields; two brothers, Mitchell Fields, and Doc Fields; and by two sisters, Ilene Pillow, and Sue Farrall.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 6th, 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Harrison and Herbert Starr officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Jeff Freeman, Dale Bolton, Buddy Smith, J.W. Dial, Don Nutt and Jerry Gilliam will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Williams, Mike Latimer, Andrew Carter, Mark Clark, Curt Benson, and, Frank Hyde.

Opal Katherine Rothe

 

Opal Katherine Butler Rothe of Paragould, formerly of Delaplaine, passed from this life Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the age of 92.

She was born October 19, 1919 at Piggott, Arkansas, to James and Rosa Wood Butler. She married Clyde Rothe, Sr., on October 5, 1935 at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

Opal was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, embroidery work, quilting, gardening, word-search puzzles and her family. She was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ and a former member of Evening Star Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clyde Rothe, Sr.; sons, Jimmie, Mark and Marion Rothe; her parents and her siblings.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Max and Christine Rothe of Searcy, Clyde, Jr. and Cathy Rothe and Coleman and Sharon Rothe of Paragould; four daughters and husbands, Carol Rawls of Paragould, Brenda Shrewsbury of Detroit, Michigan, Cindy and Rob Barnett of Paragould, and June and Larry Cameron of Atlantic Beach, Florida; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, September 6th, 10:30 a.m. in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with L. R. Smith and Wesley Rothe officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Memorials may be sent to Children’s Homes, Inc. or to St. Bernard’s Hospice.

Harry LeRoy Manthey



Harry LeRoy Manthey completed his life’s journey Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at home.

An Army Veteran, he was born June 6, 1948 to Gilbert and Gladys (Wooliver) Manthey in San Gabriel, CA. He was a retired maintenance machinist of 41 years from Martin Sprocket and Gear. He was a Christian and worshipped with the Walcott Church of Christ. He loved GOD, Family, and Country.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Manthey of Enid, OK; one neice, Suzanne Gibbs; one nephew, Brewster Fears and Father-in-law, Pete Fears.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Diana Manthey of the home; one son, Gannen Manthey of Wynne, AR; one brother, Gilbert Manthey of San Carlos, CA and Mother-in-law, Lois Fears of Springfield, MO. Neices and nephews and his special girls, Lou Ellen and Emma Sweeney and pals, Braden and Peyton Glenn.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 8th, 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1:00 pm with Sam Becerra officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

Darrell Pillow, J.W. Rawis, Larry Hooten, Mike Chastain, Ronnie Slatton and Phillip Harrell will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Ford, Tom Gawf, David Claton, Herbie Lane, Larry Kitchens, Weldon Williams and Onis Summers.

Dessie Rickman Leathers
 


Dessie Rickman Leathers, 80, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012. She was born October 9, 1931 in Paragould, Arkansas to Tom and Mildred Rickman.
Dessie loved to travel and raise her children. She worked as a day care assistant for over 25 years. Dessie was a member of Lifeline Baptist Church.

Dessie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Rickman and Tom Rickman, Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years James Leathers, three children; Tim (Dolores) Leathers, Keith (Toni) Leathers and Kraig (Donna) Leathers, she also leaves three grandchildren; James (JT) Leathers, Kerri Leathers and Emily Leathers.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 8th, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 N., Alexander, Arkansas with Brother Jeff Dial officiating.
Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas.

The family will receive guests Friday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home.

Dovie Irene Lambert
 

Dovie Irene Lambert, age 94, of Paragould, former Leachville resident and widow of Mr. R. V. Lambert, died Thursday September 6, 2012 at the Greene Acres Nursing Center in Paragould. Born September 4, 1918 at Sulphur Rock, Arkansas she was the daughter of the late Sam and Dora Martin Smith and had been a Leachville resident before making her home in Paragould over 60 years ago. She was the former owner/operator of Lambert's Grocery in Paragould and was retired from LA Darling Fixture Mfg. in Paragould. She was a longtime member of the First Church of God. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Earlene Blackburn, 1 granddaughter, Cindy Clark, 2 brothers and a sister.

Survivors include; grandson Dennis Hodge of Paragould, granddaughter, Darlene Davison of West Memphis.

She also leaves 7 great-grandchildren, 19, great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8th, 10:00 a.m. at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Rob Schumann officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Frances Ada Bales
 


Frances Ada Bales, 72 of Paragould passed away at her home September 7, 2012. She was born April 4, 1940 in Erwin, TN. to George and Helen Rogers. She loved her family and Tennessee Football.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ronald V. Bales Sr. and one sister, Kathleen Green.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Warren and Wendy Bales, Quentin and Ginger Bales all of Paragould; one brother, Frank Rogers; three sisters, Merita Edwards, Linda Garland and Carolyn Pate; four grandchildren, Michelle Stallings, Mallorye Wesley, Christine Bales, Blake Bales and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, September 9th, 5:00 until 8:00 at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, September 10th, 10:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with Charles Stoddard officiating.

Burial will follow at Old Military Cemetery in Sedgwick

Clifford Russell Cole



Clifford Russell Cole, 73, of Troy, Missouri passed away September 7, 2012. He was born on July 4, 1939 in Paragould, Arkansas, a son of the late James and Mary Henderson. He was married to Margaret Dooley April 23, 1982 in Troy, Missouri.

He entered the Air Force on November 21, 1961 and was honorably discharged on August 19, 1966. He retired from McDonnell Douglas in October of 1996. Cliff was a member of the Troy Lions Club. He enjoyed taking road trips with the family, crappie fishing, deer hunting, building wooden model ships that were placed in a glass bottle, he rebuilt a Model A car, that was passed onto his daughter and collected Farmall Cub tractors. He had a great sense of humor and was always sharing laughter with his family and friends. Cliff loved spending time with his family, his wife, children and grandchildren, they held a special place in his heart.

Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Margaret Cole of Troy, Missouri; four children: James A. Cole and wife, Cheryl of Truxton, Missouri, Jeffrey S. Cole and wife, Lisa of Tipton, Indiana, Kenneth W. Cole of Barrow, Virginia; Carla C. Kinser and husband, Tim of Brownsville, Kentucky; when he married Margaret he gained three children: Karl E. Dooley and wife, Debby of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Sandra L. Jobe and husband, Jim of Winfield, Missouri and Lynelle C. Smith and husband, Jeff of Troy, Missouri; one brother, Larry Henderson; one sister, Barb Gibbs; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received Wednesday, September 12th, 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at KEMPER-MARSH-MILLARD Family Funeral Home / Troy Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley, Missouri.
Interment will be held in Asbury Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Research or American Heart Association.

Braxton Lee Coy
 

Braxton Lee Coy, 32 of Jonesboro, Arkansas died Saturday, September 8, 2012 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born on October 15, 1979 in Paragould, Arkansas. Braxton was a graduate of Paragould High School class of 1998; he was an avid Oakland Raider Fan, a tube mill operator at L.A. Darling in Paragould and a member of the Gainesville Church of Christ.

Survivors include, two daughters Savannah Coy and McKenley Coy both of Jonesboro, his father Ronald Coy and mother Cheryl Coy both of Paragould, one sister and brother-in-law Jennifer and Todd Meeker of Spring Hill Tennessee, paternal grandmother, Bernadeine Coy and maternal grandfather, L.D. Heasley both of Paragould, a nephew, Brett Meeker and niece Payton Meeker both of Spring Hill Tennessee, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Braxton was preceded in death by, his paternal grandfather Don Coy and maternal grandmother, Wanda Heasley.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 10th, 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Topper Killough and Bro Sam Becerra officiating, burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include, James Haynes, Shawn Sandusky, Kenny Barton, Mason Coy, Brett Meeker and Nick Austin. Honorary pallbearers will include, Anthony Coy, Tommy Coy, Chris Hedge and Sumner Coy.

Memorials may be made to a Memorial Education Fund for his daughters which has been set up at the First National Bank of Paragould or a contribution to the American Cancer Society.

Jerry Delbert Sample
 


Jerry Delbert Sample, 63, of Paragould, died Saturday, September 8, 2012.

Born April 5, 1949, in Kennett, Missouri, Jerry was a Shelter insurance agent and a member of the Church of Christ.

Jerry was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was the most devoted of Christians, an avid Razorback fan and determined fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie R. Sample of the home; his mother, Wilma Sample of Nimmons; one son, Eric Sample of Paragould; one daughter, Rebecca Sample Hancock and son-in-law, Brad Hancock; of Paragould. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Sample of Nimmons; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Richard Taylor of Jonesboro; and three grandchildren, Jackson, Olivia, and Wyatt Hancock all of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Sample; and an infant sister, Linda Joyce Sample.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 12th, 10:30 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Billy Moore, Dwight Harrison and Bill Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow in Piggott Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will be Dick Mitchell, Jerry Moore, Joe Wessell, Larry Beliew, Richard Sample, and Mike Morgan.

Vernon Dale Reddick
June 27, 1929 - September 9, 2012

 

Vernon Dale (Wog) Reddick, 83 of Marmaduke, Arkansas passed away at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould on Sunday. He farmed all his life in Greene County and was of the Baptist Faith, he also loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Florence Reddick, two sisters, Imogene McCartney and Glenivee Beaver and four brothers, Billy Reddick, Joe Harold Reddick, Randal Reddick and Freddy Reddick.

Survivors include his wife, Merveena Reddick of the home, two sons, Barry (Judy) Reddick of Paragould, Kevin (Kerry) Reddick of Lafe, four brothers, Kenneth Reddick of St. Louis, Missouri, Jimmy Don Reddick and Ted Reddick of Paragould, and Gaylon Reddick of Sherwood, Arkansas, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 11th, 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould, with Kim Bridges will officiate; burial will follow in Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Lloyd Bradley Thomas
 


Lloyd Bradley Thomas, 52 of Marmaduke passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012. He was born April 30, 1960 in Paragould to Lloyd and Gay Thomas.
His hobbies included drag racing at George Ray’s and fishing on his Dad’s ponds. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lafe.

Lloyd is survived by his parents; his wife, Vickie Jean Smith – Thomas; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Amy Thomas of Lafe; daughter and son-in-law, Cassie and Sam Beltz of Nebraska; four sisters, Tammy Christian, Toni Mangrum, Carmon Johnson, Amy Speer; one grandchild, Charolette Beltz and a host of friends and loved ones.

Memorial Services will be Wednesday, September 12th, 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lafe.

Lasting Memorials can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Lloyd Allen Danaho

 

Lloyd Allen Danaho, 24, of Paragould, died Monday, September 10, 2012, in Paragould.

Born August 30, 1988, in Kennett, Missouri, Lloyd was the assistant manager of Paragould Bowling Center and was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved being in the National Guard.

Survivors include his parents, David and Susie Danaho; one son, Tanner Grooms; the mother of his son, Starla Wilhite, all of Paragould. He is also survived by four brothers, Robert, Wesley, David and Josh all of Paragould; and three sisters, Mandy of Paragould, and Cheryl and Christi of Maynard.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Carter Grindstaff officiating. Burial will follow in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include David, Wesley, Roy, Derick, Michael and Paul.

Jackie Henson
 


Jackie Griffith Henson, 59, of Harrisburg departed this life Monday, September 10, 2012 at her residence.

She was born February 18, 1953, at Paragould, the daughter of Jack and Wanda Wright Griffith.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Terry Pierce.

She is survived by her husband, William, and son, Adam Blandford, both of Harrisburg; daughter, Tracy Shepherd of Desoto, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Jessica and Joseph Blandford, and Lilly Shepherd.

The family will hold a private memorial. Arrangements are with Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.

William Howard Brooks

 

William Howard Brooks, 64, of Paragould, passed away Monday September 10, 2012 at his home. He was born January 21, 1948 in Aurora, Illinois,. He was a retired electrician and he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He loved the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Clubs and was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Edward Brooks, Eugenia and (Step Father), Edward Furr, one brother, Bernard Edward Brooks Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Janet Dell Brooks of the home, sons, Jeff (Leslie) Brooks of Peru, Illinois and Brian Brooks of Paragould, daughters, Terri (Chris) Simmons, Marianne (Brooks) Montgomery, Amie Brooks and Jessica (Michael) Rogers all of Paragould, brother, Eugene Brooks of Texas, sisters, Patricia Choat of Texas and Linda Brooks Brown of Alabama, eighteen grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be announced at a later date with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. There will be no visitation.

Go rest high on that mountain, and play it sweet in Heaven.

Betty Lou Milburn
 

Betty Lou Milburn, 80 of Rector died September 10, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital, Paragould.
She was born March 28, 1932 to the late John and Hazel (Edwards) Johnson. She enjoyed spending time with family, was a bookkeeper, a member of the Clay County Democratic Convention and a member of the Boydsville Baptist Church

She was preceded in death by her husband Lavon (Squirt) Milburn, a daughter: Julie Milburn, a grandson: Jeremy McDaniel, and a brother: Doug Johnson.

She is survived by a son and his wife: Todd and Cynthia Milburn of Paragould, two daughters and their husbands: Brenda and Larry Wilson and Susan and Johnny McDaniel, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a brother: Max Johnson and three sisters: Wiladean Tinker of Kissimmee, Florida, Carolyn Swift of Linden, Michigan and Marilyn Glasco of Grand Blanc, Michigan along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, September 11th, 6:00 p.m. at the General Baptist Church in Rector. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 12th, 10:00 a.m. at the church with Brother Phillip Bynum officiating. Interment will be at the Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Dorothy Leigh Woodward
 


Dorothy Leigh Woodward, 89, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

She was born November 1, 1922, at Piggott, Arkansas, to Arthur and Lottie Smith. Mrs. Woodward was a homemaker and a member of 7th & Mueller Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Edward L. Woodward of Paragould; one son, Dr. Edward Gerald Woodward and his wife, Kim, of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania; one sister, Nancy Pryor of Mayfield, Kentucky; and two grandsons, Patrick Woodward of Los Angeles, and Daniel Woodward of Brooklyn, New York.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Leigh Woodward; and one sister, Joanne Hollingsworth.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 5:30 until 9:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 13th, 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Art Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Piggott Cemetery.

Patricia Wood Jackson

 

Patricia “June Bug” Jackson, 58, of Paragould, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was born April 23, 1954, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly worked for Coca-Cola, and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. June loved collecting antiques, gardening, and taking her dog, “Chig” for rides on her four-wheeler.

Survivors include her father, Loyd Wood; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roscoe and Melba Wood, and Ronnie and Cyndi Wood, all of Paragould. She is also survived by aunts and uncle, Bud and Betty Holmes, and Melba Bennett; nephews, Buck Wood, and Garrett Wood; nieces, Lisa Golden, and Rachael Martin; great nephews, Cody Wood, and Laramie Golden; great nieces, Brittany Wood, and Lilly Martin, all of Paragould; and by her beloved pet dog, Chigger “Chig”.

Her mother, Lois Wood, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 14th, 3:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould with Sam Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon 1:30 p.m. until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Russell Ford, Levi Pillow, David Phillips, Bryan Golden, Buck Wood, Cody Wood, Wayne Rolland, and Mike Bradsher will serve as pallbearers.

Patsy Dian Martin, 67, of Jonesboro passed away Thursday September 14, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born June 17, 1945 in Paragould, and had lived in Jonesboro her lifetime and was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ belief.

Patsy loved to do gardening, and play with her grandchildren, great grandchild and was a woman of strong faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ammanie Roberts Martin and brother, Charles Martin.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherry (Kevin) Pierce of Jonesboro and Suzy (Hector) Batiz of Dallas, Texas, two brothers, Ed Martin of Jonesboro and Mike McDaniel of Wichita, Kansas, one sister, Barbara Eads of Trumann.

Five grandchildren, Madison Roddy, Maegan Mangrum, Dustin Vaughn, C.J. Vaughn and Cassidy Batiz and one
great grandson, Avery Mangrum.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

There will be no visitation.

Edith Esther Jackson, 101, of Paragould passed away September 14, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born March 1, 1911 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to the late Louis and Effie Williams. She enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles and loved reading and making apple pie for family gatherings. She was a member of the Center Hill Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ralph M. Jackson; five brothers; three sisters.

Mrs. Jackson’s survivors include three daughters and sons-in-laws, Shirley (Max) Redwine, Betty (Leo) Yearry, Carolyn (Larrell) Austin; one son and daughter-in-law, Ray (Wanda) Jackson, all of Paragould; one sister, Imogene Rister, of Albuquerque, New Mexico;11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Monday, September 17th, at 12:00 noon at Phillips Funeral Home with Larry McFadden officiating. The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.

Her grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Lasting Memorials may be made to Children’s Homes of Paragould, Inc.

Mike McAllister

 

Mike McAllister, 70 of Paragould, died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Belle Meade Healthcare. He was retired from Emerson Electric and was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Dottie McAllister, one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jeffery Rawls, one brother, Rip McAllister all of Paragould, one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Laverne McAllister.

There will be a private service at a later date. There will be no visitation. Mitchell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic School in Paragould.

Cleo Ophelia Wilcox, 94 of Paragould, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Greene Acres Nursing Center. She was born September 16, 1917 in Boynton, Arkansas. She was retired from Ely & Walker and a member of the Peace Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Wilcox loved quilting, gardening and painting.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Ed (Mylene) Wilcox of St. Louis, Missouri, Jim (Connie) Wilcox of Shalimar, Florida, Fred (Janice) Wilcox of Paragould, Gary (Carol) Wilcox of Memphis, Tennessee, one daughter, Drucilla Winscher of St. Louis, Missouri, sixteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Wilcox, one son-in-law Louis Winscher and one brother Louie Brooks.

Funeral services will be Monday, September, 17th, 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Snow officiating burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel.

Carmeletta “Carmen” Winkler



Carmen as she was affectionately called by family and friends departed this earthly life Friday, September 14, 2012. She was born March 8, 1947 in Lafe, Arkansas to Arthur and Emma Massey. Carmen retired from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.

Carmen was predeceased by her parents, and five sisters.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her devoted friend and longtime companion, George Krausz; her sisters, Dorothy Hill and her husband, Robert Hill of Davidson, Michigan, Betty Hargraves of Pontiac, Michigan, Maxine Craft of Lafe, Arkansas, and Debbie Carter and her husband, Joe Carter of Rector, Arkansas; her brothers and sister-in-laws, Larry and Dawn Massey of Lapeer, Michigan and Wallace and Georgia Massey of Rector, Arkansas; a host of other loving relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Carmeletta “Carmen” Winkler, 65, of Lexington, SC will be held Wednesday, September 19th, at 11:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Florence Miller Mayfield; husband, Alvie Stewart; son, Louis Stewart; brother, Harvey Mayfield; sister, Louise Brown; grandchildren, Shannon Deming and David Stedman, Jr.

Dewayne was born April 22, 1956, in Paragould, and was a truck driver.

He is survived by his parents, Oliver S. and Mamie Clifton of Paragould; two sons, Billy D. Clifton and Oliver S. Clifton, both of Paragould; three daughters, Angela Robinson of Paragould, Cassie Buskill of Jacksonville, Florida, Krystal Carr of Holcomb, Missouri; and eleven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Clifton; and one sister, Nora Weaver.

Reba Sibyl Nations
 

Mrs. Reba Sibyl Nations, age 93 of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away September 16, 2012 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Born in Paragould, she was the daughter of the late Henry Byron and Cora Fuller Sanders. Mrs. Nations was a devoted member of the Greater Vision Ministries Church in Paragould and enjoyed reading her bible.

She is survived by one step-son: Fred Nations and wife Carolyn of Germantown, Tennessee; one step-daughter: Brenda Anderson of Paragould, Arkansas; one sister: Verna Chapman of Paragould, Arkansas; one sister-in-law: Viola Sanders of St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Nations also leaves several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands: Mr. Everett Carter and Mr. B.W. Nations; six sisters: Cora Fuller, Ida Sipes, Thelma Bennett, Roma Kirkland, Pauline Payne and Barbara Sanders and two brothers: Jay Sanders and Gaylin Sanders.

Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday, September 18th, 11:00 a.m. at the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould, Arkansas with Rev. Rick Ethridge officiating. Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas is in charge of arrangements.

Reba Maxwell Boling

 

Reba Laverne Maxwell Boling, 85, of Paragould, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Her husband of twelve years, Ganes Boling, passed away a few hours later.

Reba was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.

Reba was born May 6, 1927, in Paragould, the daughter of the late Earl and Clella Dial. She was also preceded in death by her previous husband, Cyrus Maxwell; one brother, Bill Dial; two sisters, Pearl Mason and Earlene Mamczur; and two stepsons, Robert and Donald Boling.

She is survived by one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Charlie Figura of Wright City, Missouri; three stepsons, Roger Boling and Raymond Boling, both of Paragould and Kenneth Boling and wife, Shirley of Dycusburg, Kentucky. Survivors also include four brothers and sisters-in-law, Royce and Murlene Dial, Leo Dial, J.W. and Linda Dial, Jesse and Mary Dial, all of Paragould; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Cecil McFall of Dittmer, Missouri and Willie Francis and Roy Williams of Paragould.

She is also survived by a host of step grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Mildred Angeline Beaver



Mildred Angeline Beaver, 77, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012, at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

She was born on October 8, 1934, in Halliday, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Harry Frances and Irene Craig Belyew.

She was united in marriage to John William Beaver on December 21, 1955. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Caleb Beaver and brother, Jerry Belyew.

Mildred was a longtime member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Piggott, Arkansas and retired as Secretary of the Piggott Elementary School.

She is survived by five children: John Gregory Beaver and wife Brenda of Gulfport, Mississippi, Paula Marie Nash and husband Richard of Dennard, Arkansas, Larry Neal Beaver of Titusville, Florida, Lorrie Irene Kinard and husband Robert of Hazen, Arkansas, and Lisa Eileen Wallis of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; eleven grandchildren: Owen Beaver, Patrick Beaver, Bridgett Nelson, Melanie Bailey, Mandy Nash, Justin Beaver, Emily Beaver, Trevor Wallis, Derek Wallis, Kelsey Kinard and Karly Kinard; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob Beaver, Owen Beaver, Jr., Austin Beaver, Mason Beaver, Makayla Nelson, Lyra Holliman, and Lexi Holliman; three brothers, Buddy Belyew of Arizonia, Luther Belyew and wife Frances of Florida, and Ed Belyew and wife Toya of Florida; sister: Barbara Buzbee and husband Bert of Florida; sister-in-law, Evanell Turner of Piggott, Arkansas; brother-in-law, James Beaver of Piggott, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends.

Lee Emery Veteto
 


Lee Emery Veteto, 74, of Paragould, died Monday, September 17, 2012, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born January 19, 1938, at Carlile, Illinois, he was a career Marine having served in Vietnam and earning the Purple Heart. Mr. Veteto also retired from the Civil Service, was an ordained minister and a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and outdoor activities.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Veteto of Paragould; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Glenda Veteto of Albany, Georgia; and one daughter, Nan Easley of Paragould. He is also survived by one brother, Bearl Fletcher of Swartz Creek, Michigan; three sisters, Dorothy Brown of Swartz Creek, Omeda Mooney and Mary Smith, both of Paragould; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Squire and Ida Veteto; and two brothers, George and Bobby Veteto.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 19th, 3:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Winters officiating.

Ganes was preceded in death by his parents Robert Edgar and Jessie Ellington Boling; his first wife, Mildred Boling; second wife Reba Boling; sons Robert and Donald Boling; grandson, Shawn Boling, great grandchildren, Emily Dawn Boling and Maliyah Wegner.

Jimmy Martin, 70 of Marmaduke passed from this life on September 17, 2012.
He was born April 10, 1942 to the late Estel and Altha (Cleveland) Martin in the Finch area. He loved to farm and work with his animals. He worked at Emerson for many years and was a member of the Pine Hill Full gospel.

Mr. Theodorus Pete Theodoropoulos, 76, of Marmaduke, Arkansas died September 17, 2012 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mr. Theodoropoulos was born June 17, 1936 in Zevgolatio Messinia, Greece to the late Pete and Asemo Theodoropoulos. He came to the United States when he was 16, was of the Catholic faith, served in the Army, was a member of the VFW in Paragould, Arkansas, loved being with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed landscaping, cooking, and animals.

Survivors include: one son: Theodore Theodoropoulos and wife Ada of Marmaduke, Arkansas; four daughters: Dgostina Baldwin and husband Patrick of Marmaduke, Arkansas, Dona Manly of Marmaduke, Arkansas, Maria Theodoropoulos of Crete, Nebraska and Patricia Sharp and husband Joshua of Crete, Nebraska; fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; best friend: Marie Chiacchia; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Theodoropoulos was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held Friday, September 21st, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Missouri State Military Cemetery, Bloomfield, Missouri under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.

Gale Miles Wilson
 


Gale Miles Wilson, 87 of Judsonia, died September 19, 2012 at Searcy, Arkansas. He was born February 9, 1925 to Miles and Gracie Wilson. His wife, Margene Wilson; son, Gary Wilson; three brothers and one sister, precedes him in death.

Survivors include daughter, Phyllis Carnes and husband, Fred of Villa Rica, GA; sons, Steve Wilson of Jonesboro, AR; Joe Wilson of Judsonia, AR; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; 12 brothers and sisters. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Searcy, AR. Mr. Wilson belonged to the Memphis Amateur Boxing Association in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He owned Wilson Welding and Radiator in Marmaduke, Arkansas in the late 50’s to 1965 and moved to West Memphis, Arkansas and began welding at Therma Pack Boilers in Memphis, TN. He began working at Dobb’s Ford in Memphis in 1973 until his retirement in 1990.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6:00 until 9:00 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy, AR. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 22nd, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke, Arkansas.

Linda R. Miller, 60, a resident of Gassville passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Baxter Regional Medical Center.

She was born September 11, 1952, in Paragould to Huey Albert and Betty Ruth Wright Wilhite. Linda relocated to Gassville in 1975 from Corcoran, California. She married Vernis Lee Miller on June 1, 1985, in Harrison. Linda was a long time employee of Wal-Mart in Mountain Home. She was of the Baptist faith. Linda loved animals and most importantly loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Vernis Miller of Gassville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kelly and Brad Morris of Mountain Home and Stephanie Miller and her fiancé, Tyler Baumgardner of Gassville; her mother, Betty Wilhite of Gassville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hulen and Bev Wilhite of Mountain Home, Keith and Sandy Wilhite of Flippin and Farron and Angie Wilhite of Mountain Home; a sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Darrell Fears of Midway; three grandchildren, A.J. and Kiley Morris and Hayden Miller; seven nieces and nephews, Brooke Young, Lindsay Newton, Jared, Justin, Jordan, Haley and Nick Wilhite and other relatives and many friends.

Jerry Oscar Sims, 69, of Paragould, died Friday, September 21, 2012, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born September 30, 1942, in Greene County, he was a retired truck driver for Emerson Electric and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Fay Sims of Little Rock and Sammy (Kyle) Beasley of Walcott; one brother, Conny Sims of Michigan; one granddaughter, Alex Beasley of Walcott; and the mother of his children, Jan Sims of Paragould. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R. L. and Fay Sims.

Graveside services will be Monday, September 24th, 10:30 a.m. at the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Dennis Strope officiating.
Visitation will be Monday prior to services, 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.
The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday.

Pallbearers will include; Charlie Pope, Josh Scoville, Jeremiah Raver, Tony Foster and John McKenzie

Gwendolyn Elizabeth Nutt Rogers
 
 

Gwendolyn Elizabeth Nutt Rogers, 86, of San Antonio, Texas died September 21, 2012. She was born October 26, 1925 in Paragould to the late William Granville and Adaline Bowlin Nutt.

She began as a child, what would become a way of life for her, that of continual travel. She graduated from Paragould High School in 1943 and went on to further her education at the University of Arkansas where she received her B.A. in Home Economics. While at college she met and married William Frank Rogers of Newport Arkansas. They then moved to Holland, Missouri where they taught school for a year. During the Korean War in 1950 Mrs. Rogers' husband entered the Air Force and graduated from Officers Candidate School as a second lieutenant. Thus began Mrs. Rogers life as a military officers wife for the next thirty years. Throughout General Rogers career they were stationed and traveled extensively all over the world. Just a few of those many locations included living in Okinawa, Tokyo, England and Germany twice.
Mrs. Rogers had many interests: gourmet cooking, reading, history, art and travel. She was a woman of great natural grace and wit. She will be missed enormously by those who knew her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Valkrye Brumby of San Antonio, Texas, Charissa LaCava of Newport, Rhode Island and a granddaughter, Arian Brumby of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are her sons in law, Jack Brumby of San Antonio, Texas and Randy LaCava of Newport, Rhode Island.

Graveside services will be held Monday, October 1st, 1:00 p.m. at Linwood cemetery. Heath Funeral Home will be in charge of services. Their phone number is 870-236-7676. Reception to be held at The White House, 611 Court Street, Paragould.

George Wesley Keaton
 


George Wesley "Buster" Keaton, 84, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, formerly of Walnut Ridge, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012.

Born June 21, 1928 at Red Hill, son of Jimmy Keaton and Molly Burnett. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He retired from the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War with over 22 years service as a Tactical Communications Chief and received the following awards; 5 good conduct medals, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars, and the Vietnam Cross of Galantry with Palm.

He was married to Phyllis Thompson forty-five years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Joe Keaton.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Keaton of the home; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby Gilliam of Newport and Nell Osborne of Jacksonport, two grandsons; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter; a special friend, Quentin Stone of New York; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 26th, at 2:00 p.m. at Lorado Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Lorado Cemetery with military honors and Masonic rites at graveside.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the church.

Rev. Brian Exum will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Benny and Brandon Martin, Thomas Crawford, Michael Hamilton, Quinton Stone and Ron Bullock. Full Military Honors and Masonic Rites at Graveside

Audrey Schrader Darby

 

Audrey Schrader Darby, 79, of Paragould, Arkansas, formerly of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away September 22, 2012, at Green Acres Nursing Center in Paragould, Arkansas.

She was born on July 25, 1933, in Nimmons, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Roy Robert and Lorene Broadway Howell.

She was united in marriage to Jack Schrader. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lorene Howell; two sisters: Louise Howell and Agnes Hatcher; five brothers: Roy Howell, Jr., G.W. Howell, Arlin Howell, Troy Howell, and Jimmy Howell.

She is survived by her son, Paul Schrader and wife Judy of Rancho Cucamonga, California; daughter, Shauna Simpson and husband Jarred of Paragould, Arkansas; seven granddaughters: Morgan Osborn, Haley Simpson and Abby, Anna, Amy, Amber, and April Schrader; one great-grandson, Tristen Osborn; one sister, Alberta Houser of Piggott, Arkansas; three brothers: Dr. George B. Howell of Wichita, Kansas, Johnny Howell of Pollard, Arkansas, and Gary Howell of Piggott, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 27th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Sam Bacerra officiating. Burial will be in Piggott Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Pallbearers are Jason Howell, Mark Howell, Jerry Wayne Howell, James Howell, Alan Howell, and Jeff Howell. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Burr, Eddie Howell, Bob Houser, Monte Howell, and Blaine Howell.

Earl Calvin Thompson
 


Earl Calvin Thompson, 72 of Paragould passed away September 23, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 13, 1939 to the late Earl Immanuel and Mary Ruby Thompson. Earl loved car racing, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Rose Chapel Baptist Church and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. An electrician by trade, he worked for Weil McLain Industries for thirty years.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Robert Lee Thompson.

Earl is survived by his spouse, Colene (Brown) Thompson; one son, Tim Thompson; one daughter Connie Burgess; three brothers, Charles, Cleatius, and Carl Thompson; two sisters, Deloris Thompson and Kay Woodall; two grandchildren, Heather and Timothy Thompson; one great-grandson, Timothy Caden Thompson.

The family will receive guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26 at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 27th, in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Glen Hoselton officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pine Log Cemetery.

Kenneth Fred Christ, 82, of Paragould, died Sunday, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Kenneth was born to Elmer and Marie (Engles) Christ in Michigan.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; three step daughters Julie Hulsey of Benton Harbor, Michigan; Pamela Star Marks of Paragould and Tammy Gail Pillow of Paragould; one brother Boyd Christ of Michigan; two sisters Katherene Sims of Chicago and Lois Christ of Washington D.C., six step grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and one son Ernie Roberts.

Charles Franklin McCain, 79 of Paragould, died Tuesday at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Charles was the owner and operator of 7 Acres Flea Market for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Virgil and Vina Walker McCain.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie A. McCain of the home; sons: Brent (Trish) McCain of Paragould, Russell McCain of Blossom, TX and Chuck McCain of Meredian, MS; brothers, Marvin McCain of Trumann, AR and Billy McCain of Paragould, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday, September 29th, 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Wilburn Griggs officiating.

Charles Laveral Rogers
 


Charles Laveral Rogers, 66 of Beech Grove passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1946 in Tyronza to the late Abb and Hettie (Mahan) Rogers. Laveral was employed for 29 years at Greene County Tech. A family man and Jehovah’s Witness, Mr. Rogers loved his kids and grandkids. He was also a writer and had one novel published.

Preceding Laveral in death were his parents; one brother, Randell Rogers; one sister, Bernice Redmond.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Lavern Rogers; son and daughter-in-law, Terry Laveral and Wendy Rogers; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Dustin Cashion; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carrell and Marcella Rogers, and Larry and Nancy Rogers; one sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and Ronald Cole; three grandchildren, Shea and Stephen Rogers, and Dakota Cashion; two step-grandchildren, Christopher and Duran DeFries; a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27th, at Phillips Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Friday, September 28th, 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Alton Hunt and Les Langley officiating. Family and friends can meet at Phillips Funeral Home at 1:30 for the procession to the cemetery.

Ann Lively, 58 of Paragould, died Wednesday at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Ann was an LPN II and of the Protestant belief.
She was preceded in death by her father, Neal Ingram and a brother, Larry Ingram.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Lively of the home; daughter, Tammy Vaughn of Hoxie, AR; sons, Anthony and William Lively of Paragould, Sean Wells of Las Vegas, NV, Teddy Wells of Pocahontas, Jeremy Wells of Jonesboro; mother, Gladys Ingram of Jonesboro; brothers, Jimmy Ingram of Paragould, Rick Ingram of Walnut Ridge and Randy Ingram of Jonesboro; sisters, Linda Brand of Jonesboro and Neala Jean McFarland of Bay, AR. 10 grandchildren, Kyle Radcliff, Kolbey Gates, Dannie Vaughn, Gannon Vaughn, Riley Cole, Addie Vaughn, Elizabeth Lively, Edward Lively, Kala Wells, Rachel Wells; great grandchildren, Brandon and Connor Radcliff.

Floyd Nolen Parrish, 65 of Marmaduke passed from this life September 26, 2012.
He was born June 21, 1947 to the late John and Mabel (Clayton) Parrish in White Oak, Arkansas. He enjoyed spending time with his family and worked at Tenneco Motors and served his country in the Vietnam War.

His parents and a brother-in-law: preceded him in death: Earl Gene Howard.

His is survived by his wife; Minnie (Hoffman) Parrish, a son and his wife: James and Leane Parrish of Marmaduke, a son and fiancée: Richard Parrish and Sandy of Paragould, a daughter and her husband: Christa and Kevin Gamble of Marmaduke, his grandchildren: Audrey and Dustin Parrish, Ariel and Allana Carroll, Blake, Coby, Dillon and Nicholas Gamble, Dustin, Derek and Chad McLish and Tommy Joe Franklin, one brother: Lonnie Parrish of Marmaduke, four sisters: Doris and Roland Lomerson of Virginia, Viola and Johnny Carpenter of Marmaduke, Glenda Howard of Rector and Violet and Jim McDaniel of Marmaduke.

Larry DeWayne Newton, age 50, of Leachville, died Wednesday at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born at Manila he was the son of the late Mary Sarrells Robinson and had been a lifelong area resident. He attended Manila High School, and was formerly employed by Darling Store Fixtures in Paragould, Fruit of the Loom in Osceola, and Robertson Brothers Furniture Store in Leachville.

Survivors include; his wife, Deborah Maples Newton of the home, four sons; Robert Weatherly of Monette, Joshua Newton of Jonesboro, Clifton Newton of Leachville, Eric Smith of Leachville, two daughters; Kimberly Howard of Leachville, Kaylee Shipley of Marmaduke, three brothers; Darren Newton of Leachville,Wesley Newton of Manila, Tony Newton of Leachville, and three sisters; Tammy Hogan of Marmaduke, Lona Morris of Manila, Leisa Nettles of Monette. He also leaves eight grandchildren

Funeral services will be Monday, September 29th, 1:00 p.m. at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Lee Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.

Carlton William Smith

 

Carlton William Smith, 83, Paragould, died Friday, September 28, 2012, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born January 24, 1929 in Beech Grove, the son of the late Lester and Beatrice Williams Smith. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn Heineman, Janice Smith, Arlon Smith and Garland Smith.

Carlton was a long time farmer and worked for Dana Corp. for 15 years. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church. Carlton loved God, his family, including his beloved Lab, Rusty, Cardinals, Razorbacks and the Military Channel.

He is survived by his wife: Delores Smith, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law: Debby and Bob Camp of Paragould, Tami and Jack Forrest of Orlando, Florida; grandsons: Shannon Carlton Underwood, Ryan Underwood, Phillip Forrest; granddaughter: Holly Forrest; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 2nd, 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at a graveside service Tuesday, at 1:00 p.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jay Hicks officiating.

Larry Edward Falls

 


Larry Edward Falls, 61, of Paragould, went to be with his Lord Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Mr. Falls was born July 17, 1951 to Jones and Albertine Falls. On July 1, 1971, he married Debra (Debbie) Allen at the First Church of God in Paragould. Mr. Falls was an employee of Monroe Tenneco for 41 years. He enjoyed coaching youth softball/baseball leagues, watching Greene County Tech Basketball, camping with his family and Arkansas Razorback Sports. Mr. Falls grandchildren were the light of his life.

He is survived by his wife; Debbie Falls, of the home; daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer and Tim Ennis of Harviell, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law: Nicholas and Lacresia Falls, of Paragould; grandchildren: Harlie, Austin, Audrey and Allee Ennis of Harviell, MO, Hunter, Kaleb and Karter Falls of Paragould; foster mother/aunt: Imogene Hogland; brother: Dennis Hogland; sister: Bonnie White; mother-in-law: Reba Allen Pillow, all of Paragould; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jones and Albertine Falls, infant sister, Joan Carolyn Falls, infant son, Preston Edward Falls, foster father/uncle: Vinus Hogland, father-in-law: Jesse Allen.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated Tuesday, October 2nd, 10:00 a.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend John Snyder and Reverend Tommy Toombs officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Van W. Tyner Hudson

 

Van W. Tyner Hudson, 92, of Jonesboro died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Jonesboro Healthcare and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Hudson was born April 9, 1920 to the late Roy and Ruth Tyner in Walcott. She was very proud to have served in the World War II with the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps, and while in the service she received the World War II Victory Medal, Women’s Army Corps Service Medal and Honorable Service Lapel Pen. She was owner operator of Jami Bee Motel since 1964.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Hudson; two grandsons, Matthew and Chris Hudson; two brothers, Leroy “Pete” and J.L. Tyner. She is survived by her son, James Hudson of Jonesboro; two grandsons, Jay Hudson and his wife Jill and Robert Hudson and his wife Annie of Jonesboro; four great grandsons, Connor, Kendle, Evan, and Mason; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 3rd, 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Toombs and Marion Gramling officiating and Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Darla Evans Turner Mann

 

Darla Evans Turner Mann, 58, of Jonesboro passed away September 29, 2012 at St. Bernard's Hospital. She was born in Paragould and lived in Paragould and Jonesboro most of her life. She was an Army veteran and of protestant belief.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Conrad Evans and Shirley Evans, two sisters and a brother.

Survivors include two children, Brett Turner of Oregon and Tera Smith of Paragould; two sisters and a brother, Debbe Cottle of Virginia, Johnny Stone of Walnut Ridge, Perry Evans of Illinois; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was honored with a private memorial of family and friends.

Ralph Reinhart, Sr.
 



Ralph Reinhart, Sr., 74, of Lafe, died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Mr. Reinhart was born June 19, 1938, in Hooker, Arkansas, and retired from National Lock in Rockford, Illinois. He was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. He loved fishing, gardening and country music.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Reinhart of Lafe; four sons, Ralph Reinhart Jr. and Jeffery Reinhart, both of St. Augustine, Florida, Donald (Denise) Lamar of Marmaduke, and Chris (Charlia) Lamar of Lafe; and one daughter, Denise Stone (Mike) Hocker of St. Augustine. He is also survived by three brothers, Billy Gene (Elwanda) Reinhart of Lafe, Eldon (Dottie) Reinhart of Paragould, and Charles (Becky) Reinhart of Lafe; one sister, Sharon Dowler of Lafe; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, O. T. and Violet Reinhart.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 3rd, 1:00 p.m. at the Providence Missionary Baptist Church with Gary Morris and Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Providence church.

Elizabeth Marion (Carman) Lowery

 

Elizabeth “Betty” Marion (Carman) Lowery, 89 of Arthur formerly of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away September 30, 2012 at the Arthur Home, Arthur.


Betty was born August 10, 1923 in Schenectady, New York the daughter of Claude Lafayette and Gertrude (Boutier) Carman. She graduated high school at the age of sixteen. She was married to Farrell Lowery for twenty years. She worked at the University of Arkansas Dining Services for over twenty years before having to medically retire. She was especially proud to have worked in the dining halls of the athletes. The students loved her and many visited her and wrote letters of thanks to her long after they left college. She also worked at the football games of her beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. She worked as a telephone operator, factory worker, painter, sales person and was self-employed in her own cleaning service in Paragould, Arkansas while raising her four children.

Betty is survived by her four children, Bob Lowery of Quincy, Illinois; Connie (Jim) Winfield of Arthur, Illinois; Randy (Dixie) Lowery of Millington, Tennessee and Linda (Don) Smith of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She had 13 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert.

Private family services will be held at a later date in Arkansas. Arrangements were made by McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, IL. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
