Mary Onis Schmuecker


Mary Onis Schmuecker, 75, of Paragould died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Craighead County, she was a retired factory worker with Emerson Electric. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include her husband, Bud Schmuecker of Paragould; three daughters, Wyonia Pillow of Jonesboro, Tresea Dement and Henrietta Childress, both of Paragould; one brother, Marion Hendrix of Marmaduke; one sister, Ann Keirsey of Hollister, Mo.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Woods Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Snow and John Marconi officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

 

 

Beatrice French Martin


Beatrice French Martin, 97, of Conway, formerly of Delaplaine and the Paragould area, died Monday, Sept. 2. 2002.

Born in Delaplaine, she worked at the draft board and an armament plant during World War II and worked in retail for many years.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church in Mayflower.
Survivors include one daughter, Cloycean Bratton of Conway; five grandchildren, Steve Armstrong, Jeff Grooms, Robert Grooms, Tim Grooms and Kay Coffman; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with the Rev. Ken Reece officiating. Burial will follow in Mayflower Cemetery.

 

Wayland Stanley Wheeler


Wayland Stanley Wheeler, 77, of Pocahontas died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Greene County, he served in the Navy during World War II, had worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Faye Midgett Wheeler of Pocahontas; two daughters, Pat Carter and Freda Richardson, both of Pocahontas; three brothers, Carson Wheeler of Cokia, Ill., John Wheeler of Paragould and Coleman Wheeler of Highland; four grandchildren, Shannon Barr and Shawn Carter, both of Pocahontas, Jermey Richardson of Ruston, La., and Josh Richardson of Korea; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Stevens Wheeler; a son; two brothers; and a sister.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Croft Cemetery at Stanford, with L.R. Smith and Terry Martin officiating. McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Carter, Jerry Richardson, Shawn Carter, Rick Barr, Rick Wheeler and Ricky Wheeler.
Honorary pallbearers will include Dallas Roberts and Donald Gillean.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

 

Robert Joseph Greenwell


Robert Joseph "Bob" Greenwell Jr., 55, of Tallahassee, Florida, formerly of Paragould, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 in Tallahassee.

Born in Pulaski County, Mo., he was an electrician, a rescue diver and a locksmith.
Survivors include two sisters, Doris Higdon and Sherry Long, both of Paragould; and his stepparents, Ross and Alice Shewmaker.

The body was cremated. Burial was in Brown's Chapel Cemetery in Paragould.

Fairchild Funeral Home in Tallahassee and Heath Funeral Home of Paragould were in charge of arrangements.


 

Ralph Timothy Agee


Ralph Timothy Agee, 46, of Paragould died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002 at his home.

A Paragould High School graduate, he was the owner and operator of a Little Debbie distributorship for six years. He had previously been employed at Big Star as a manager for 25 years. He was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Johnson Agee of the home; one son, Josh Agee of Paragould; one daughter, Brandy Agee of Hoxie; his mother, Patricia C. Agee of Paragould; one brother, Chad Agee of Mounds; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Agee.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Center Hill Church of Christ, with Art Smith and Michael Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.
Pallbearers will be Danny Ryan, Randy Hedge, Rick McDaniel, Glenn Staggs, George Monroe, Tim Hamilton, Shane May and Stan Hovis.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Center Hill Church of Christ.

 

Almus Lorin Dicus


Graveside services for Almus Lorin Dicus, 78, of Paragould, who died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Greene County Memorial Gardens, with Gary Cremeens officiating.

The body was cremated. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould was in charge of arrangements.

J.L.  Howe


J.L. “Jimmy” Howe, 69, of Paragould, died Monday, September 9, 2002  at his residence.

He was born in Stonewall and was retired from the Buick Motor Division of General Motors. A Baptist, he was a Mason and Shriner.
Survivors include one son, Russell Howe of Clio, Mich.; four daughters, Gail Boardman of Jamestown, N.Y., and Nancy Allen, Lynette Bronson and Sandy Irwin, all of Flint, Mich.; three brothers, Alvin Howe of Hooker and Dan Howe and Garry Howe, both of Paragould; four sisters, Mary Hart of Hoxie and Helen Dearin, Martha LaRoe and Sharon Howard, all of Paragould; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Providence Baptist Church, with Charles Abanathy officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Active pallbearers will be Gilbert Hart, Dewayne Hart, Ronnie Hart, Larry Howe, Ronnie Howe and David Howe.
Honorary pallbearers will include David Stallings and Frankie Lynn Williams.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Simon Morgan


Simon Morgan, 74, of Paragould, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002 at his residence. Born in Greene County, he was retired from the Greene County Road Department as a grader and dozer operator.

Survivors include a brother, Burnin Morgan of Hardy, and two sisters, Della Russell of Rector and Modine Lamb of Paragould.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olean Morgan; his parents, Elisha and Sally Reddick Morgan; three brothers; and two sisters.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Reddick Cemetery north of the Alexander community in Greene County, with Phillip Bynum officiating. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements. The procession will leave the funeral home at 1:20 p.m.
Pallbearers will be William Black, Jimmy Barr, Jimmy Barr Jr., Charles Evans, J.C. Gibson and Tommy Hester.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Ova Jean Eubanks


Funeral services for Ova Jean Eubanks, 73, of Paragould, who died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center of NEA, will be at 3 p.m. today at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in Paragould, with L.R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery at Paragould.
Pallbearers will be Bill Noles, Wayne Stallcup, Jeff Harrelson, Eddie Tedder and Wayne White.

Born at Light, she was a homemaker and a member of Newton Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include his husband, Lowell Eubanks of Paragould; two daughters, Cathy Howard and Judy Eubanks, both of Paragould; two brothers, John Davis and Avon Davis, both of Paragould; and two sisters, Betty Holt of Harrison and Emma Nell Hudson of Dalton, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Mary Davis, two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.

 

Henry Cleveland Walker


Henry Cleveland Walker, 81, of Marmaduke died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Born at Leachville, he was a retired employee of Entpace in South Beloit, Ill., and was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Walker of Marmaduke; three sons, Berlyn Walker and Wayne Walker, both of Beloit, and Gary Walker of Burkburnett, Texas; three daughters, Brenda Scorfina and Barbara Dwyer, both of Paragould, and Tamra Wells of Beloit; a brother, Roy Walker; three sisters, Della Smith, Bobbie Gibson and Pearline Wood; 23 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Maggie Walker, and a sister.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in Paragould, with Roger Tidwell, Jesse Dollars and Lee Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Davy Walker, Eric Walker, David Scorfina, Ryan Walker, Brandon Wells and Todd Melton.
Honorary pallbearers will include Terry Melton, Danny Dwyer, Chris Scorfina, Stephen Scorfina, Trevor Walker and Chris Walker.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clark


Gerald Allen Clark, 68, of Paragould died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at his residence.

Born at Marmaduke, he was of the Baptist faith and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda J. Bruce Clark of the home; one son, Keith Clark of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter, Jeannie Caudle of Davison, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Debbie Porter of Tampa and Debra Riley of Texarkana, Texas; one stepson, Keith Boone of Paragould; four brothers, Cecil Clark, Raymond Clark, Weldon Clark and William Clark, all of Paragould; one sister, Beulah Wooten of Newport; and one grandchild, Jeremy Caudle of Davison.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

 

Alvie Vernon Foster


Alvie Vernon Foster, 85, of Light died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at his residence.
Born in Greene County, he was a farmer and a member of Walnut Corner General Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Lois Boling of Jonesboro, Brenda Gentle of Beech Grove, Earline Tedder of Paragould, and Margie Thomason of Little Rock; one brother, Hubert Foster of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Heath Colonial Chapel with the Revs. George Haygood and Marion Stringer officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Kris Thomason, Ryan Clark, Glendall Jones, Steve Carpenter, Jeremy Mitchell and Heath Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Scott, Danny Mitchell, John Smith, Shane Smith, Devin Smith, Justin Landreth, Tyler Jones and Matthew Scott.

Larry David DeSpain

 
Graveside services for Larry David Despain, 58, of Paragould, who died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Brown's Chapel Cemetery, with John Miller officiating. Heath Funeral Home in Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lake City, he served in the Army National Guard from 1964-72, worked as a supervisor for then-FMC and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 405 in Lake City.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Despain of the home; a son, Joey Despain of Bentonville; two daughters, Mary Despain of Paragould and Tara Smith of Lake City; two stepdaughters, Tonya Thomason and Robin Clifford, both of Paragould; four brothers, Daniel Despain of Las Vegas, Jerry Despain of Tulare, Calif., Leonard Despain of Porterville, Calif., and Steve Despain of Atascadero, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Jerry Holden, William King, Amanda Thomason, Zachary Thomason and Travis Clifford, all of Paragould, and Riley Smith of Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Myrtle Despain, his maternal grandparents and a grandson.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A.D. Golden


A. D. "Pappaw" Golden, 80, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, formerly of Marmaduke, died Monday, Sept. 16,2002.

He worked at the Ely and Walker shirt factory in Paragould for 33 years and worked part-time in Damman Hardware in Commerce, Mich. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a gunner on a B-24 bomber stationed in Italy. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Golden of the home; one daughter, Jo Ann Newsbaum of Commerce; one son, Michael Golden of Marmaduke; one brother, Cloyce Golden; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Coats Funeral Home in Waterford, Mich.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Marmaduke First Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.

 

Franklin Junior Jackson

 
Franklin Junior "Bubby" Jackson, 71, of Lake City died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Wynne, he had lived in Keiser before moving to Lake City in the 1960s. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include four sisters, Wilma Robinson of Lake City, Merietta Spear of Terre Haute, Ind., Patsy Fitzhugh of Blytheville and Judy Leak of Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Franklin and Mary Evelyn Carmack Jackson, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Emerson Funeral Home chapel in Lake City. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery north of Paragould.
Pallbearers will be Anthony McMurray, Jason Morris, Jacob Mann, Lester Mann, Bobby Spears and Thomas Cooper.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Betty Lemmond


Betty Lemmond, 77, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Randolph County, she lived in Walnut Ridge for several years before moving to Jonesboro in 1966.

She was a retired licensed practice nurse, working for several years at St. Bernard's Medical Center and the Regional Medical Center of NEA, and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Survivors include her husband, Howard Lemmond of the home; three daughters, Luejean Whittaker and Pat West, both of Jonesboro, and Modene Gaulke of Brookland; one brother, Woodrow Shrum of Rockford, Ill.; five grandchildren, Luann Jones, Cheryl Lobato, Scotty Carter, Deionna Fye and Michael Whittaker; and eight great-grandchildren.

 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Martha Hathcock Shrum, one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will include Michael Whittaker, Scotty Carter, Tom Jones, Josh Frye, Neal Whittaker and Doc Gaulke.

Janice Faye Joiner

Janice Faye Joiner, 58, of Paragould died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at her residence.

She was born March 20, 1944, in Monette. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Lee Hardin; her parents, James and Tressie Easley; and a brother, Stephen Joe Easley.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Sandy Hardin, and John and Cindy Hardin, all of Paragould; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janet Travis of Searcy, Tressie and Mitchell Baker of Kensett and Connie and Jessie Travis of Van Buren, Mo.; two brothers, Bill Easley and Mike Easley, both of Paragould; two sisters, Peggy Harris of Herculaneum, Mo., and Barbara Shelton of Marmaduke; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Wayne Gould officiating. Burial will be at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Keith Easley, Randy Joiner, Ronnie Chittenden, Tim Shelton, Kenny Harris and Mark Harris.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

 

 

Guy Lowell Laffoon

 

Guy Lowell Laffoon, 93, of Paragould died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born April 18, 1909, in Russellville. He was a retired farmer ad carpenter. He was also a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Poe and Francis Ann Sinclair Laffoon; a son, Larry Laffoon; a brother Leonard Laffoon; and two sisters, Jewell Jennings and Lois Dollar.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Laffoon of the home; a son, Lowell Laffoon of Paragould; a brother, Glen Laffoon of Paragould; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with Neil Laffoon and Kelvin Laffoon officiating. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Juanita Owen

 

Juanita Owen, 86, of Lonoke, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at the Lonoke Nursing Home.

She was born in Oak Grove and was the retired owner of Grandpa's Grill & Restaurant in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Michael Owen of Sherwood; a stepdaughter, Ginny Owen of Centerville, Va.; a brother, Gus Miller of Paragould; two sisters, Reba Hampton of Warrensburg, Mo., and Louise Hart of Paragould; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Owen; one stepdaughter; her parents, Roy H. and Willie Ellen Pannell Miller; one sister; and one brother.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould, with the Rev. Roger Armstrong officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church in Paragould.

 

Joe A. Black

 
Funeral services for Joe A. Black, 54, of Jonesboro, who died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Born in Muskegon, Mich., he had lived in the Stanford community in Greene County before moving to Jonesboro in 1970.

An employee of Hytrol Conveyor Co. in Jonesboro, he was a Baptist. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Jonesboro Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Dakins of Hawk's Bay, New Zealand; his mother, Dorothy Black of Pocahontas; and one brother, Larry Black of Hoxie.

He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Black

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

 

Kenneth E. Jackson


Kenneth Eugene Jackson, 75, of Rector died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was a Baptist, a veteran of the Korean War and a mechanic.

Survivors include a son, Steve Jackson of Paragould; three daughters, Kathey Richey of Tulsa, Okla., Penny Harrelson and Melody Jaques, both of Paragould; one sister, Wilma Roberts of Paragould; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.


 

Teddie Hueston Banks

 

Teddie Hueston Banks, 67, of Paragould died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at his residence.

Born at Boydsville, he was a retired truck driver with Willis Shaw Trucking Co., a member of Newton Street Church of Christ and the Happy Trails Riding Club.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Banks of Paragould; two sons, Keith Banks and Kevin Banks, both of Paragould; two daughters, Patricia Collins and Beverly Hammon, both of Paragould; his stepmother, Thelma Banks of Paragould; two brothers, Bill Banks of Datto and W.T. Banks of Bowling Green, Ky.; two sisters, Lola Huskey and Sue Wallace, both of Ecru, Miss.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with L.R. Smith officiaiting. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Kenneth Hancock


Kenneth Hancock, 61, of Paragould died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at his residence. Born in Bono, he was a retired cotton ginner and was affiliated with the Liberty Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Lou "Sue" Hancock of Paragould; three sons, Kevin Wayne Hancock and Thomas Ray Hancock, both of Paragould, and Terry Joe Hancock of Bay; one daughter, Tammy Douglas of Paragould; two brothers, Jerry Hancock of Paragould and Johnny Hancock of Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Laverne Songer of Paragould; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with Gene Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Lorado Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Junior Hancock, Jeff Hancock, Jeff Murphy, James Knight, Barry Sims and Mark Davis.

James Michael Cupp

 
James Michael Cupp, 64, of Light died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was the owner of Cupp and Sons Grocery Store and attended Light Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Cupp of Light; two daughters, Lisa Hancock of Jonesboro and Kellie Blake of Paragould; two brothers, Vance Cupp Jr. and Pete Cupp, both of Light; one sister, Evangeline Cothern of Light; five grandchildren, Michael Williams, Christie Williams, Jeffery Blake and Jordan Blake, all of Paragould, and Mackenzie Williams of Jonesboro; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Laura Cupp, and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel in Paragould. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 

Cleo A. Hass


Cleo A. Hass, 81, of Cahokia, formerly of Marmaduke, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002 at Memorial Hospital in Cahokia.

Born at Marmaduke, he was retired from H & H Machine Shop in St. Louis where he worked for 33 years. Mr. Hass  was a member of Cahokia Park United Methodist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one son, John Hass of Jonesboro; one daughter, Elaine Carlson of Jackson, Mo.; one brother, Curtis Hass of Flint, Mich.; three sisters, Joan Conkin of Sioux Falls, S.D., Amy Gardner of Jonesboro and Willyne Thompson of Marmaduke; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha Baker Hass; his parents, Lee and Vashti Trantham Hass; one son; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Marmaduke First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kelly Craft officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery at Marmaduke.

Braun Colonial Funeral Home of Cahokia is in charge of arrangements, and Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of local arrangements.
Visitation will be today from 5:30-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

 

 

Iva Nell Akes


Iva Nell Akes, 61, of Monette died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at her residence.

Born at Heber Springs, she was a longtime resident of the Monette and Leachville area, a retired employee of Frolic Footwear and a member of the Church of God.

 
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Akes of Monette; one son, Mike Akes of Paragould; one daughter, Vickie Southerly of Marmaduke; seven brothers, Leo Clayton and Kenneth Clayton, both of Monette, Raymond Lee Clayton, Bill Clayton and Myril Clayton, all of Leachville, Delbert Wayne Clayton of Greenbrier and Dean Clayton of San Antonio; two sisters, Wincle Clayton of Monette and Imagene Roper of Leachville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robie and Gertie Goff Clayton.

 
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service chapel in Leachville, with the Rev. Dennis Madison officiating. Burial will follow at Cudd Cemetery at Marmaduke.
Visitation will be from 6-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.


Mildred Irene Carrigan

 
Mildred Irene Carrigan, 66, of Rector, formerly of Paragould, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Farwell, Mich., she was a retired factory worker at Emerson Electric Co. and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Paragould.

 
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Carrigan of Rector; four sons, Lee Cook of Hillsdale, Tenn., Robert Cook and William Cook, both of Paragould, and Thomas Cook of Avon Park, Fla.; two daughters, Gloria Lamar of West Moreland, Tenn., and Susan Stacks of Morrilton; one brother, Robert Hall of Richmond, Ky.; five sisters, Lucille Funke and Florence Mercer, both of Farwell, Alta Heintzelman of Harrison, Evelyn Henry of Lansing, Mich., and Alma Voss of Lake, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter; one son; her parents; three sisters; and five brothers.

 
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Brown's Chapel Cemetery in Paragould, with the Revs. Bob Lee and Joe Marsden officiating. Heath Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Mildred Alice Stallcup

 
Mildred Alice Stallcup, 87, of Lafe died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born in Greene County, she was a homemaker and of the Methodist belief.

Survivors include a son, Russell Stallcup of Lafe; two daughters, Carolyn Bowlin of Germantown, Tenn., and Virginia Scheer of Lafe; a brother, Jim Cole of Burton, Mich.; four grandchildren, Scarlett Bowlin-Lynn of Germantown, Laurie Todt of Malibu, Calif., Angie Hughes of Rogers and Gail Scheer of Lafe; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvis Armond Stallcup; and her parents, Henry and Alice Jackson Cole.

 
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Health Funeral Home Colonial Chapel in Paragould, with the Rev. Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens at Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Scarlett Bowlin-Lynn, Laurie Todt, Angie Hughes, Gail Scheer, John Lynn, Johnny Hughes and Chris Murray.

David Ray  Moore


David Ray Moore, 21, of Cardwell, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002 at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

Born in Paragould, he was a self-employed auto mechanic and was of the Pentecostal belief.

Survivors include his parents, Charles and Mary Moore of Cardwell; one brother, Charles Wayne Moore of Paragould; and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Brown of Paragould.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Floyd Ryles officiating. Burial will follow at Brown's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

 

Phillip Dale Hyde

 

Phillip Dale Hyde, 43, of Paragould died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 18, 1958, in Paragould. He was a self-employed carpenter and member of Pine Knot Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Hyde; a brother, Ronnie Hyde; his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Effie Denham; and his paternal grandparents, Boss and Selma Hyde.

Survivors include his fiance, Wanda Hill of Paragould; three sons, Eric Wayne Hyde, Robert Hyde, and Shawn Michael Hyde, all of Louisville, Ky.; a stepson, Stephen Hill of Paragould; his mother and stepfather, Nina and John Edrington of Bardstown, Ky.; a sister, Leigh Ann Barber of Bardstown; and a grandchild.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with Art Smith and Jody McFadden officiating. Burial will be at Pine Knot Cemetery in Paragould.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

The family requests memorials be made to Pine Knot Church of Christ or the St. Bernards Hospice, P.O. Box 9320, Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Pallbearers will be Gene Eaker, James Dean, Rex Ellington, Archie Johnson, Dewayne Kennedy, Mike Kennedy, Bubby Clayton and Keith Bryson.

Billie "Bill" Windel Parker

Billie "Bill" Windel Parker, 63, of Annapolis, Mo., formerly of Paragould died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Popular Bluff, Mo.

He was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Paragould. He was a retired house painter and truckdriver. He lived in Annapolis for the past 22 years. He loved to hunt and fish and attended the Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan and Nettie Parker; and a brother, Bryan Junior Parker.

Survivors include his companion, Sandy Sullivan of Annapolis; two children, Billie Windel Parker Jr., of North Carolina, and Mary Janeen Hudson of Mississippi; two brothers, Walter Parker of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Mack Parker of Paragould; two sisters, Vesta Howard of Paragould and Ruth French of Lafe; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Sept. 29, at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel in Piedmont, Mo., with the Revs. Steve Sale and Clarence Casteel officiating. Burial was at Mann Cemetery in Annapolis.

 

 

Frances Dahlia Sears


Frances Dahlia Sears, 91, of Paragould, formerly of Marmaduke, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002 at the Paragould Nursing Center.

Born in Vale, Tenn., she was a homemaker and had worked in the dietary department of Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was a member of the Rosewood Baptist Church and the Marmaduke First Baptist Church.

 
Survivors include one son, Don Sears of Conway; one daughter, Betty Presson of Paragould; six grandchildren, Kathie Miller of Springdale, Karla Blackwood, Ashley Presson and Ann Pickney, all of Paragould, Todd Sears and Nichole Williams, both of Little Rock; one stepgrandchild, Roni Bowman of Malvern; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister.

 
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke, with Kim Bridges and Ron Pickney officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke.

 
Pallbearers will be Todd Sears, Grant Pickney, Jared Pickney, Ashley Presson, Brian Presson and Rex Blackwood.
