Gary Owen Franks
Gary Owen Franks, 62, of Marmaduke, Arkansas, died Friday, October 1, 2004, at the
Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Franks was born on September 13, 1942,
in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the owner of Franks Transmission Repair in Marmaduke, a
farmer and a retired postal Employee.
He was a board member of Harvey's Chapel Cemetery and a former board member of Delta
Cotton Coop. Mr. Franks was also a member of the Marmaduke First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one grandson: Ryan Beasley of Marmaduke, Arkansas, one granddaughter
and her husband: Amber and Jake Rodden of Paragould, Arkansas, one great grandchild:
Treyson Rodden of the home, a special friend: Linda Turner of Manila, Arkansas, two double
cousins: Joyce Vallentine of Paragould, and Mary Ann Hamelback of St. Charles, Missouri,
also by four aunts and three uncles.
Mr. Franks was preceded in death by: his parents: Owen and Marjina Franks and his
daughter: Tonya Franks Beasley.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 4, 2004, at the Marmaduke First
Baptist Church with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating, burial will follow at the Harvey's
Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke, Arkansas. Visitation for Mr. Franks will be from 5:30 P.M.
to 8:00 P.M. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould. Visitation at the church
from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Doyne Shaw, Darrell Smoot, Tommy Chubb, Charles Bridges, Joe
Vangilder, Danny Barnhart, Ben Whitaker and Foy Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers: Doyne Webb,
Wayne Walls and Glen Freeman.

choice.
Quinnie Mae Ivy
Quinnie Mae Ivy, 89, of Marmaduke, Arkansas, died Friday, October 1, 2004, at the Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Arkansas. She was born March 26, 1915, in Sallisaw,
Oklahoma, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: two sons: Zane Ivy of High Ridge, Missouri and Joe Ivy of Corcoran,
California; two daughters, Sharron Kaye Morris of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Yvonne Ashton
of Ft. Worth, Texas, eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Mrs. Ivy was preceded in death by: her husband, Tommy Ivy and one son, Jerry Don Ivy.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Laramie LeQuieu officiating with burial following at the Greene County Memorial Gardens
Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Ivy will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. today at the
Mitchell Funeral Home.
Donnie Louis Barr
Donnie Louis Barr, 58, of Paragould, died October 4, 2004 at his residence. Born at
Stanford, he is the son of the late Herschel and Gladys Barr. He served in the US Army in
Thailand and was retired as a Quality Engineer at Monroe Auto Equipment in Paragould. He
attended Paragould Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of Trinity Missionary
Baptist Church in Camden, Arkansas.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Dianne Barr of Paragould; sons, Dennis Barr of Paragould,
Jonathan Barr of Pine Bluff; daughter, Rebecca Harrison of Jonesboro; sisters, Wanda
Maxwell of Paragould, Louise Schaffer of Highland; eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be today 6:00-8:00 PM at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be
Wednesday, 1:00 PM at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverends Eddie Gene Wright and
Richard Merritt officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers
will be Wayne Garner, Danny Robb, Larry Myrick, Larry King, Steve Maxwell, Wayne Stallcup.

Mildred Hattie Ruffin Grooms
Mildred Hattie Ruffin Grooms, 77, of Paragould died Sunday, Oct. 3, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
Born in Cabot, she was a graduate of DeWitt High School, a homemaker, a dental assistant
for 212 years in Little Rock and co-manager of the Western Auto Store in Paragould. She
was a member of First Baptist Church in Paragould.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Grooms of Paragould; one son, Bobby Grooms of
Jonesboro; one daughter, Jo Anna Calhoon of Jacksonville; one sister, Betty Jo Bailey of
Hot Springs; seven grandchildren, Jim Calhoon of Paragould, Brian Calhoon and Tiffany
Calhoon Crafton, both of Cabot, Grant Calhoon of Rogers, Shea Grooms Ross of Fort Worth,
Texas, Trey Grooms of Maumelle and Jay Grooms of Little Rock; two stepgrandchildren,
Jennifer Coffman Grady and Jonathan Monroe, both of Jonesboro; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxie J. and Wilma A. Ruffin.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heath Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Scott
Neathery officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Ross, Trey Grooms, Jim Calhoon, Grant Calhoon, Mark
Crafton, Bryon Calhoon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Aden, Jay Aden, Jay Grooms and the M.E. Prince Sunday
school class.

Wilma Jean Thompson
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Wilma Jean Thompson, 81, of Tucson, formerly of Paragould, died Sunday,
Oct. 3, in Tucson.
Born at Paragould, she played high school basketball, attended college and during World
War II and worked two years for the Quartermaster Corps in the Pentagon. She also worked
as a teacher.
Survivors include two daughters, Teri Toth of Silver City, N.M., and LuMari Thompson of
Tucson; two sons, Nelson C. Thompson II of Tucson and James F. "Jeff" Thompson;
two sisters, Marie Kennett of Leachville and Dorothy Brynjolfson of Apple Valley, Calif.;
four grandchildren, Adam Wilkins of Albuquerque, N.M., and Garrett Thompson, Samantha
Thompson and Riley Thompson, all of Tucson; and three stepgrandsons, Alex Davis and Wesley
Davis, both of Tucson, and Tristan Toth of Silver City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson C. Thompson; her parents, Oscar and Ada
Moore; four sisters; and three brothers.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bring's Broadway Chapel in Tucson.
Billy Gene Biggs
Billy Gene Biggs, 53, of Paragould, died Monday, October 3, 2004 at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center in Paragould. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department, coached
and volunteered for Paragould Youth Baseball of 33 years, and was a 1968 graduate of
Paragould High School.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hyde Biggs and his grandparents, Mildred
and Earl Hyde and Ruby and William Biggs.
He is survived by his father, Gaylon Biggs; brothers, Alfred Biggs and Bobby Biggs, all of
Paragould; nephew, Brian Biggs and great nephew, Mason Biggs, both of Jonesboro.
Pallbearers are David Kellums, Mark Miller, Richard Stewart, Dale Westbrook, Neil
Whitlatch, Charles Dachs, Carl Hamblin and Nippy Mangrum.
Gwendol Boyd and Dr. L.L. Shedd are honorary pallbearers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 A.M. at Heath Colonial Chapel.

Rev. Ray H. Edwards
Funeral services for Rev. Ray H. Edwards of Mountain Home will be at Beech Grove Methodist
Church in Beech Grove, AR, on Saturday, October 9, 2004, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Russell
Moore officiating.
Rev. Edwards died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the age of 80. Visitation will be from
11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
Rev. Ray Edwards was born March 27, 1924 at Beech Grove, Arkansas, to William and Martha
Ellen Davidson Edwards. He married Gleda Marie Griggry on November 19, 1942, in Beech
Grove. Rev. Edwards was a member of North Arkansas Conference of The United Methodist
Church for 38 years serving churches from Northeast Arkansas to Northwest Arkansas
including Cotter, Bull Shoals, Yellville, Mountain View, Dardanelle, Grace in Searcy and
Bald Knob. Rev. Edwards retired in 1986 and moved to Mountain Home from Bald Knob, and is
a member of the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Edwards earned a Bachelor of Science
in Theology from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and battled diabetes for 53 years.
Rev. Edwards is survived by his wife, Gleda; two sons, Don and Susie Edwards of
Bartlesville, OK., and Gary Wayne Edwards of Gasseville; 6 grandchildren; 5 great
grandchildren; 3 brothers -- Houston and Bill Edwards of Paragould, AR, and Clifton of
Beech Grove; 1 sister, Emma Jean Stallcup of Paragould. He is preceded in death by his
parents and 3 daughters -- Carol, Kathy, and Martha.
Burial will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Diabetes
Association or the First United Methodist Church building fund.

Willie Carl "Bill" Massey
Willie Carl "Bill" Massey was born December 5, 1918, to the late Oscar Laflette
and Claudia Ann (Griffin) Massey in Dekalb, Mississippi. He departed this life on
Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Massey was a World War II, Army veteran serving in Germany. He was of the Baptist
faith, a farmer and boat worker.
He was united in marriage to Edna Cloise Tucker on February 10, 1940. She preceded him in
death on November 30, 2001.
He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Carla Renee Massey: three brothers, Rufus Massey,
Rezia Jarvis "Runt" Massey, and Henry Massey: two sisters, "Little"
Edna Massey Porter and Aline Massey Porter: three grandchildren, Gregory Massey, Keith
Smith, and Candy La Ferney and a great grandson, Nathan Dowdy.
Mr. Massey is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Larry and Debra Massey of
Troy, IL, Jimmy and Karen (Susie) Massey of Ward, AR, Doug Massey of Marmaduke, Kenneth
and Sharry Massey of Paragould, Zane and Pam Massey of Grove, Oklahoma: three daughters
and two sons-in-law, Martha Sue Merriman of Ward, Arkansas, Willodean (Dean) and Larry
Dukes of Marmaduke, Arkansas, and Dreeta and Carlos Wallace of Marmaduke: a sister, Agatha
Massey Cravin of Lepanto, Arkansas: twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-nine
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Gary Dane Cunningham, Steven Massey, Tim Wallace, William
"Bill" Du Fau, Joe Dorsey, Brian Smith, Adam Hammitt, Joshua Massey, Robert
Dukes and Joseph Sims.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 9, 2004, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in
Marmaduke with Brother Laramie Le Quieu officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery
with Irby Funeral Home in charge of services. Visitation will be today, October 8, 2004,
at 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel.
Paul W. Eaton
Paul W. Eaton, 50, of Paragould, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center. Born August 25, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late John W.
and Betty Lou Eaton.
Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, John W., Jr., and Karrin Eaton of Keno,
Oregon; sister, Dottie Heaton of Memphis, Tennessee; stepsister and stepbrother-in-law,
Marsha and Darrell West of Paragould; two nieces, three nephews and stepmother, Mary Jo
Eaton of Paragould.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Betty Lou Eaton.

John M. Smith
John M. Smith, 82, formerly of Paragould, died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at Scenic View
Skilled Care, Herculaneum, Missouri.
Born August 8, 1922, in Paragould, he was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith is survived by two brothers, Herbert W. Smith of Festus, Missouri, and Frank D.
Smith of Jasper, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emily Smith; one brother, Thomas
Jefferson Smith; one sister, Roberta Jean Goff; and by one half-sister, Dovie Hollis.
Funeral services will be today at 2:00 p.m., graveside at New Friendship Cemetery with
Junior Vester officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 1:40 p.m.
Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home.
Freda C. Stuart
Freda C. Stuart, 84, of Paragould, died on Friday, October 8, 2004, at her residence. She
was born on December 19, 1919, in Greene County, Arkansas. Mrs. Stuart was retired from Ed
White Shoe Factory and a member of the Wood's Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Connie Stuart of Paragould,
Arkansas, two grandchildren: Marla Nailling of Lafe, Arkansas, and Melissa Johnson of
Paragould, four great-grandchildren; Brandon Gramling, Tyler Nailling, Erika Johnson and
Matthew Johnson.
Mrs. Stuart was preceded in death by: her parents: Charles and Grace McDaniel, her
husband: Marlin "Mott" Stuart, one sister: Stella McDaniel, a brother: Weldon B.
McDaniel and her twin brother: Fred McDaniel.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Monday in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
John Soward officiating, burial will follow in Wood's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be

Elfrieda LaBeria Brake
Elfrieda LaBeria Brake, 83, of Oak Grove Heights, died Monday, October 11, 2004 at
Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born December 8, 1920 the daughter of the late
Cletus and Eliza (Remley) Shearer. She was a homemaker and a former sales clerk at Belk's
Department Store in Paragould and a member of Oak Grove Heights Baptist Church.
She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Doyle and Cractus Shearer and sisters,
Dathene Baker and Ophelia Obbards.
She is survived by her husband, John Brake; two sons, James H. Brake of Bartlett,
Tennessee and Terry W. Brake of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one sister, Amelia Rogers of
Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, 6:00-8:00 PM at Heath Funeral Home; Funeral will be Wednesday,
10:00 A.M. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Billy Joe Dowdy officiating. Burial
will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

James A. Davis
James A. Davis, 83 of Paragould, died Monday, October 11, 2004 at his residence. He was
retired from General Motors.
He is preceded in death by his parents, C.B. and Loretta Davis; brothers, Tom and Dixon
Davis and a sister, Mable Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis of Paragould; three daughters and
sons-in-law, Loretta Lynn Davis, Wendy and Hardy Thompson and Leslie and Jerry Hobbs all
of Paragould; three brothers, Grady Davis of Paragould, Fred Davis of Illinois and Doyle
Davis of Holcomb, Missouri; one sister, Thelma Jones of Paragould; a great niece, Debbie
Smith of Paragould and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be today, October 12, 2004 at Greene County Memorial Gardens with
Reverend Dennis Scudder officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
Ola Ray Hendrickson Pankey
Ola Ray Hendrickson Pankey, 81, of Paragould, died Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Greene
Acres Nursing Home. Born January 26, 1923, in Searcy, Arkansas, she was a homemaker and a
member of the Grace United General Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Johnny Pankey, Jody and Brenda
Pankey, and Gary and Missy Pankey; and four daughters, Susie West McMillian, Patsy Floyd
and husband, Steve, Betty Pankey, and Sarah Ruth Davis, all of Paragould. Mrs. Pankey is
also survived by two grandchildren that she raised, Victoria Ann Pankey of Paragould, and
Betty Lou Shaw of Rector; one sister, Ruth Newcomb of Princeton, Illinois; nineteen
grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Two of her survivors are currently serving in the military, a grandson, Frank West in
Iraq and a great grandson, Joshua Cater stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Sarah Ann Hendrickson; her
husband, Ross Pankey; two daughters, Shirley Pankey and Wanda Robinson; one son, Hurley
Pankey; and by three grandchildren, Amy Danielle Pankey, Billy Dean Moss and Billy Lee
Davis.
Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., today, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Jerry Dwight Turberville
Jerry Dwight Turberville, 64, of Paragould, died Monday, October 11, 2004 in Little Rock.
He was a truck driver for L.A. Darling and a member of Lake Street Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley and his parents, A.P and Ila Mae
Reynolds Turberville.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of the home; daughters, Lisa and Laura Turberville of
Paragould; son, Jeff Turberville of Tampa, Florida; and sister, Virginia Cooper of
Marmaduke.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 1:30 P.M. at Morrow Cemetery, with
procession leaving the funeral home at 1:00 P.M.
Visitation will be from 6:30-9:00 P.M. tonight at Heath Funeral Home.
Gerald Wayne Boyd
Gerald Wayne Boyd, 69, of Paragould died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at Arkansas Methodist
Medical Center.
Born at Beech Grove, he was a farmer and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Beech
Grove.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Young Boyd of Beech Grove; two sons, Robin Dale Boyd and
Alfred Wayne Boyd, both of Beech Grove; one daughter, Susan Carol Boyd of Beech Grove; one
sister, Peggy Maag of Paragould; a brother, Bland Boyd of Paragould; and five
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olen W. and Reba Butler Boyd, and one brother.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home, with the Rev.
Tony Ryles officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Naomi McDaniel Johnson
Naomi McDaniel Johnson, 94, of Paragould, died Tuesday, October 12th, 2004, at Arkansas
Methodist Medical Center.
Born March 9, 1910, in the Wood's Chapel Community of Greene County, Mrs. Johnson was a
homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Glenna Rose Circle.
She was also a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star
and Greene County Arkansas Democratic Women's Club.
Survivors include six nieces, Lou Tripod, Neva Alice Gressman, Alice Jane Miller, Roberta
Parkinson, Jean Crossno and Woodie Sue Herlein; six nephews, Jack McDaniel, Joe McDaniel,
Mack Hamblen, Karl Hamblen, John Mouser and Ronald Mouser. She is also survived by two
sisters-in-law, Tina McDaniel and Lorene McDaniel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmel H. Johnson; her parents, James A. and
Alice Gramling McDaniel; four brothers, Jim, Joe, Robert and Woodrow McDaniel; six
sisters, Clara McDaniel, Mary Jane McDaniel, Minnie Mouser, Flora Hamblen, Mildred
"Shag" Haley and Aline McDaniel; and by one nephew, Jimmy McDaniel.
Funeral service will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m., at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel,
Paragould, with Zach Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Wood's Chapel Cemetery
with family members serving as pallbearers.

Tommy R. Copeland, 57, of Paragould, died October 12, 2004, at Arkansas Methodist Medical
Center.
Preceded in death by his parents, James Delbert and Alma (Marshal) Copeland;
granddaughter, Sahra Mae Wolk.
Survived by his wife, Janie Copeland; daughters, Janet Wolk and Tracy Crow of Paragould;
son, Randy Copeland of Marmaduke; sister, Alice Baynes of Thayer, Missouri; twelve
grandchildren.

Debra Sue Rains Medlock
Debra Sue Rains Medlock, 51, of Paragould, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at her
residence. She was a floral and interior designer and was a former owner of J.K. Cody's.
She was a graduate of Greene County Tech and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Fraternity.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Rains, and a daughter-in-law, Julie Jones.
Survivors include her companion, David Cobbs of the home; daughter, Jennifer Jones of
Paragould; sons, Kelly Jones of Paragould and Cody Oldham of Jonesboro; grandchildren,
Kameron Jones, Peyton Potter and Jaley Oldham; mother, Doris Rains of Paragould; brothers,
Paul Rains and Bobby Rains of Paragould; sister Alva Shankles of Fordyce, Arkansas.

Opal Houston Starr
Opal Houston Starr, 96, died Friday, October 15, 2004, at her
daughter's home in Scott City, Missouri.
She was born August 18, 1908, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, daughter of Robert and Alma Houston.
She married James T. Starr on December 22, 1932, and he preceded her in death on January
22, 1982. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Mrs. Starr was a retired teacher who taught Latin, General Science, and English at
Paragould High School for 33 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a teacher and member of the
Homemakers Sunday School class and also a member of the Glenna Rose Circle. She organized
a new circle for the church and that circle took her name "Starr" as the
circle's name, the Starrshine Circle. She was a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary and
the Paragould Public Library for ten years.
Survivors include one son, Robert S. Starr of Summerville, South Carolina; one daughter,
Linda K. Wilthong of Scott City, Missouri; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren

Paul H. Vines, 81, of Beech Grove, Arkansas, died Friday, October 15, 2004, in the St.
Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born February 19, 1923, in
Skiatook, Oklahoma. Mr. Vines was a member of the Commissary Church of Christ, a retired
farmer and rancher and a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was born January 4, 1924, the son of A.T. and Cynthia Elizabeth Gramling Shewmaker. He
was a retired farmer and of the Church of Christ belief.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.T. and Cynthia Shewmaker and a sister, Vivian
Groves.
He is survived by 3 sisters, Mary Emma Fitzgerald, Eunice Higgins and Gloria Shewmaker,

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Juanita Bibb Braddock, 86, of Starkville, formerly of Searcy, died
Monday, Oct. 11, in Starkville.
Juanita was born May 8, 1918 in the Eight Mile Community, of Greene County, to John F. and
Dora V. Bibb. She was a graduate of Trumann High School, had been a teacher at schools in
Tyronza and Marked Tree and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Winton of Starkville and Jane Hunt of
Elizabethtown, Ky.; five grandchildren, Robert Beck of Keller, Texas, Karen Beck of
Grapevine, Texas, Laura Beck of Waco, Texas, John Winton of Memphis and David Winton of
Chapel Hill, N.C., and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. "Snooks" Braddock Sr.; one
daughter, Joy Lynne Beck; one son, William C. Braddock Jr., and her parents, John F. and
Dora Vay Dills Bibb.

member of the Lake Street Baptist Church.

retired as a sectionizer with Ben Hill Griffin Inc. after 25 years and was a member of
Immanuel Baptist Church in Bowling Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Ida Copeland, Arbyrd, Mo.; her husband
J.R. Reeves; one daughter, Martha Jane Reeves; one sister, Frances Goff; and two brothers,
Charles and Henry Copeland.
Survivors are four sons, Jerry R. Reeves of Tallahassee, Donnie Joe Reeves of Avon Park
and Michael L. Reeves and Jimmy Reeves, both of Bowling Green; two daughters, Becky Dunlap

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Cha-pel,
with the Rev. Jim Tate and the Rev. Jay Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Greene
County Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Tadd Fore, Wayne Stallcup, Orin Tritch, Eddie Russom, Ralph
"Sonny" Lasky, Steve Fore and Fred Burrow.

Donald Bernell Pogue
Funeral services for Donald Bernell Pogue, 71, of Paragould, formerly of Leachville, who
died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Howard Funeral
Service chapel in Leachville.
The Rev. Gene Day and the Rev. Benny Isom will officiate. Burial will follow in the Greene
County Memorial Gardens in Paragould.
Born at Leachville, he had lived in Paragould for the last 30 years. He was a former
longtime employee of Brown Shoe Co. in Leachville and Frolic Footwear in Monette.
He also was a retired Assembly of God minister and a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Eubanks Pogue of the home; two sons, Freddie Pogue of
Brunswick, Ga., and Ed Pogue of Lindsborg, Kan.; one brother, Buz Bolin of Manila; three
sisters, Edith Green of Branson, Mo., Glenna Powell of Conway and Narlene Tabor of
Paragould, and three grandchildren, Ashley Pogue, William Pogue and Benjamin Pogue.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Dora Belle Bennett Pogue.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Enda Irene Seffers Rodgers
Edna Irene Seffers Rodgers, 48, of Paragould died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at University of
Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born in Paragould, she worked as a nurse at Paragould Nursing Center, was an Army veteran
and a Protestant.
Survivors include a son, George Lee Starks Rodgers IV of Paragould; four daughters, Mary
Jeanette Roberts, Stepheny Wyne Hean and Bryonna Kieranne Seffers Rod-gers, all of
Paragould, and Randi Nicole Pyatt-Rodgers of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Randy Kidd of
Junction City, Kan., David Kidd of El Paso, Texas, Lyle Seffers and James Seffers, both of
Marmaduke, and George Seffers of Charles Town, W.Va.; five sisters, Diana Sue Bartlett and
Janet Cozad, both of El Paso, Lylia Bynum of Arthur, Ill., Elizabeth Taylor of Manassas,
Va., and Lynn Hall of Marmaduke; and five grandchildren, Jordanne Paige Roberts, Calee
Madisyn Roberts, Danyael Christopher Stephen Hean, Jessica Marie Gail Hean and Michael
Hean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Coleman Seffers and Irene Jeanette
Anderson Seffers.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke
with Kim Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke.

Tommy Monroe "Bald Eagle" Smith, 66, of Paragould died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 at
his residence.
Born at Beech Grove, he also had lived in Camden. He was a truck driver for 41 years and
in 1988 was recognized as "Goodyear Highway Hero of the Year" for pulling two
people out of a burning car.
In April 1996, he was named "Driver of the Month," and in 1997 he was named
"Driver of the Year" for Maverick Transportation. He was a member of Paragould
First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Aleene Smith of the home; one son, Tommy Allen; two
daughters, Donna Marie Cutchall and Dottie Irene Harris, both of Camden; three stepsons,
Steven Armitage of Paragould and Thomas Hale and Randy Hale, both of Pine Bluff; one
brother, Ronnie Smith of Severna Park, Md.; three sisters, Beata Wallace of Memphis and
Deloris Weyer and Dorothy Shewmaker, both of Paragould, and 12 grandchildren.

Faye P. Forsythe, 74, of
Fort Walton Beach died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 in Fort Walton Beach.
Born in Marmaduke, she served 28 years in the Air Force before retiring.
Survivors include her husband, Byron "Barney" Forsythe of Fort Walton Beach; a
daughter, Linda G. Tarver of Seagrove Beach, Fla., and a brother, Van Dale Harvey of
Paragould.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Deward and Snowdie Harvey, one brother and one
sister.
