Barbara Jean Rogers Harvey

Barbara Jean Rogers Harvey, 81, of Floral City, Florida, was the second child of Sybil (Morton) and Willie Rogers, lifelong residents of Paragould, Arkansas. While taking a nap last Thursday afternoon (11/01/2012) Barbara joined her parents, older brother (R.V. Rogers), and younger sister (Reba Perisho) in heaven and became a glorious member of God’s fleet of Angels.

Barbara was born September 1, 1931 and was raised in Paragould. Although she left the area as a young adult, she had the great sense to bring her children back to Paragould for many visits. These visits were primarily made to ensure her children’s values were built in wonderful ways by their grandparents. Willie, a survivor of a severe WWI combat injury while serving his country in France and Sybil, a masterful cook continue to be superstars in the memories of their grandchildren.

Barbara married Melvin Augustus Harvey of Augusta, Georgia and produced three children (Myron, Betsy, and James). During their 62 years of marriage the family tree branched out to add two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Family members, friends, and countless community members have been the fortunate benefactors of the gifts and talents Barbara gave to everyone long before her death. Many people wait on the death of someone to receive their inheritances. Those of us fortunate enough to be in the presence of Barbara did not have to wait.

Inheritances consist of time, talents, and treasures. It is the time and talent parts that Barbara possessed and these are what she gave to others. The talents most admired and appreciated about Barbara include her determination, creativity, love for learning, compassion for others, hopefulness, faith, and belief in God. We hope family and friends who reside in the Paragould area will join us in celebrating the wonderful life Barbara Jean Rogers Harvey so generously shared during her time on this earth.

A celebration tribute to Barbara's life will be Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Floral City, Florida. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is in charge of arrangements. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
The family requests donations in Barbara's memory to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 in lieu of flowers.
