Hulon Reddick



Hulon Reddick, age 83 of Rector passed away Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital, Paragould.

He was born May 31, 1925, to the late Bill and Margaret Whiteside Reddick in Greene County. He was married to Nadine Bishop, June 10, 1944.

Hulon is survived by his wife, Nadine of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie Ray "Butch" and Jacqueline Reddick of Little Rock; one grandson and his wife, Brian and Tiffany Reddick of Little Rock; three great-grandchildren, Connor, Grace and Sarah; and one brother, Bobby Reddick.

Hulon was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Rudolph, Oneal, Lloyd and Jay Reddick; and two sisters, Almeria McDaniel and Imodell Parsons.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 5th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home of Rector with Pastor Freddie Barker officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at the funeral home.

Leon Tomlinson



Leon Tomlinson, age 82, was born March 17, 1926, he passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 at Belle Meade Nursing Center in Paragould, AR. He was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, George and Myrtle Garner Tomlinson; three sisters, Lura Potter, Violet
Brown and Verna Winn; brother, Thomas Tomlinson.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Tomlinson and Doris Forbis both of Paragould. Several nieces and nephews and special family at the Belle Meade Nursing Center.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Royce Schanda officiating.
Burial will follow in New Liberty

Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Belle Meade Nursing Center in Paragould.

Bobby Gene Glover veteran
 



Bobby Gene Glover, age 78, of Paragould, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was born September 30, 1930, in Paragould. Mr. Glover retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan, was an avid duck hunter, and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby Glover, Jr. of Winslow, Arizona, and Daryl and Lori Glover of Owosso, Michigan; and by three grandchildren, Justin Glover, Adam Glover, and Kaitlyn Glover.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mae Glover; two brothers, Ardell Skaggs and Paul Glover, Jr.; and by a sister, Wilma Edwards.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00-9:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

April Guy



April (Lea) Guy, age 32, of Marmaduke passed away November 3rd , 2008, after a hard- fought battle with heart problems. She began this life February 6, 1976, in Muncie, IN.

April is survived by her loving husband, William Guy; parents, David and Linda Scott of Marmaduke and Mike Lea of Russellville; sisters, Tiffany Scott of Lafe, Shawnta Bickford of Beech Grove and Nikki Howard of Piggott; a brother, Kristopher Lea of Russellville; mother and father-in-law, Susan Guy and John Guy, both of Muncie, Ind.; grandparents, Vivian Baugh of Dunkirk, Ind., Joanne Charles of Muncie, Ind., and George and Barbara Scott of Marmaduke, along with a host of other relatives and friends. She will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Everett Baugh.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 7th at the funeral home with Kim Bridges and Gary Morris officiating.
Interment will be at Hartsoe Cemetery.

Kathryn Blackford

 


Kathryn “Katie” Louise Blackford, 82, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born February 1, 1926, in Arbyrd, MO., Mrs. Blackford was a retired salesperson for Sears, Arnold Music and a member of Eastside Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for 43 years.
She is survived by one son, Richard Blackford; one daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Phillip Cable, a daughter-in-law Kay Blackford, one brother and sister-in-law; Wayne and Mary Buck all of Paragould, one sister; Carrie Wesendorf of Kansas City, MO., grandchildren; Vanessa Matlock, Michael Blackford, Alisa Long, Phillip Wayne Cable, Kenny Blackford, Amy Moore, Darren Blackford, Beth Hagen and Chelsey Stevens, seventeen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Blackford was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Blackford; one son; Dennis Blackford, her parents; David and Onie Buck, four sisters, three brothers and two great grandsons; Sayer and Bryer Blackford.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Friday, November 7th, at the Eastside Baptist Church with Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Glenn Howell



Glenn Allison Howell, age 58, of Paragould passed away November 4, 2008, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center, Jonesboro. He was born September 23,1950, in Leachville to James and Dixie Howell.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Howell; two sons, James Howell of Chico, CA., and Justin Howell of Paragould; four daughters, Shirley Howell of Chico, CA., Amber Shipman, Misty Roberts and Amanda Garmoth, all of Paragould; 10 grandchildren, Kyla Roberts, Austin Howell, Zackery Breckenridge, Chelsey and Justin Roberts, Brittany, Jeramiah, Colton, Brianna and Christopher Howell; his mother-in-law, Betty Thompson; and three sisters-in-law, Patricia Hartley, Debbie Friedhoff and Kathy Smith.

Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Dixie Howell; and two brothers, Ronnie Howell and James Howell.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jack Friedhoff, James Howell, Justin Howell, Danny Shipman, Rebel Howell and Josh Garmoth. Honorary pallbearers are Porter Summers, Joshua Hartley, Jeremy Williams and Bruce Baty.

Charles Bacon



Charles H. Bacon of Dayton, OH,, passed away November 4, 2008, at Hospice of Dayton after a lengthy illness. He was born in Paragould on May 18, 1931, to Albert and Laura Bacon.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife; his father; a daughter; and two nephews.

He is survived by his mother; two sisters; two brothers; five children; five stepchildren; grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Paragould High School, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and retired in July 1970 with the rank of sergeant. He served in both the Korean conflict and the Vietnam war. Charles was awarded the Korean Service Medal along with three Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Charles was an avid fisherman and loved to brag about his biggest catch. He enjoyed family reunions, spending time with his mother and eating her country cooking.

A memorial service will be in Dayton with date to be announced.

Verneda D. Huggins



Verneda D. Huggins of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at NEA Medical Center.

She was born in Paragould and had lived in Jonesboro since 1997, moving here from Florida. She was a member of First Baptist Church, an officer in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Fiesta Queen in San Antonio, Texas, in 1946.

Her hobbies included watching sports, shopping, traveling and being with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Edgar "Woody" Huggins; her parents, Alva and Dimple Duncan; one brother, Marion Duncan; and one sister Beulah Wick.

Survivors include two brothers, Alva Duncan of Lake City, Fla., and Roy Duncan of Germantown, Tenn.; nieces, Verneda Fike, Denise Wick, Tina Heindel, Regina Wildrun and Sharon Kirby; nephews, Ronald Duncan and Timothy Duncan; longtime friends and guardians, Johnny and Bettye Rogers; and special friend, Joe E. Groff.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 9 until10 Thursday morning at Emerson Funeral Home.

Kenyon Trent Wooten




Born March 5, 1963, Trent Wooten, age 45, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a welder and affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Trent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Velma Wooten.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce Dunnam of Paragould; daughters, Amber Scott and Kendra Wooten, both of Paragould; sons, Kenyon Wooten and Kelsey Wooten, both of Paragould; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Lisa Dunnam of Centerton and Tony and Lori Dunnam of Ardmore, Okla.; sister, Becky Eggers of Siloam Springs; grandchildren, Kayden and Morgan Scott, both of Paragould; companion, Tammy Smith of Paragould; uncle and aunt, Fred and Claudette Wooten of Hooker; and several nieces and nephews.

Daniel Jefferson Cupp, age 60, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.
Born September 21, 1948, in Paragould, he was an Army veteran of Vietnam and a factory worker.

Survivors include two sisters, Betty Palmer and Martha Adams, both of Paragould; and several nieces and nephews.

Brian Matthew Stallings



Brian Matthew Stallings, age 24, passed away Friday, November 7, 2008, at his residence.

He was born on May 7, 1984, at Paragould and lived in Jonesboro two years. He was formerly of Caraway.

He was a graduate of Riverside High School and attended Arkansas State University, majoring in physical education and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Brian was a special assistant coach to Coach Buster Campbell at Riverside High School and enjoyed sports and hunting. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his parents, Ken and Patty Stallings of Caraway; wife, Tiffany Ann Flannigan of Jonesboro; grandparents, Leo and Louise Stallings of Caraway, and Betty Brashears of Lepanto; a brother and his wife, Ken and Consuelo Stallings of Caraway; three nephews, Matthew Dewayne Stallings, Benjamin Leo Stallings and Andrew Gage Barks; two nieces, Elizabeth Ann Barks and Sydney Lynn Barks; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Caraway First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Visitation will held this evening from 6 until 8 at Caraway First Baptist Church.

Mary Elizabeth Jamison



Mary Elizabeth Jamison, 93, of Florissant, MO., passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Barnes Hospital, St. Peters, MO. Born January 6, 1915 in Mammoth Springs, AR., she was a homemaker and member of West End Church of Christ, St. Peters.
Mrs. Jamison is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William and Margaret Jamison of Hazelwood, MO., one daughter, Marilyn Smith of Houston, TX., eleven grandchildren; and by thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert E. Jamison; her parents, Louis and Effie Williams; daughter, Barbara Jean; son, Benny; grandsons, Phillip and David Jamison; and son-in-law, Bill Smith.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Jon Binkley officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Dorothy J. “Janie” West, age 72, of Paragould passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Harrisburg.

She was born February 28, 1936 at Trumann to the late T.J. and Emma West. Dorothy retired as a supervisor from Fastner’s Inc. in Michigan City, IN., after 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Van West, Leon West and Virgil West; and sister, Lucille Rasdon.

Janie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda and Gary Coleman and Lorrie Lipe, all of Paragould, Jamie and Mel Gore of Portage, IN., and Kim and Mike Banzen of Green Cove Spring, FL., brother, Harold West of Worms, Germany; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one arriving in December; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sherri Miller, age 38, of Paragould passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008. Sherri was born September 19, 1970. She was a Baptist and a nursing student at Arkansas Northeastern College.

Sherri was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Haley and Hazel Stone, and her paternal grandparents, Marvin and Geneva Miller.

Sherri is survived by her son, Colby Miller of Paragould; parents, Edgar and Kathy Miller of Paragould; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Nicky Cupp of Paragould; nephew, Austin Cupp of Paragould; niece, Madison Cupp of Paragould; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Lindell Mack Kuntz

 


Lindell Mack Kuntz, 64, formerly of Paragould passed away November 9, 2008 at his residence in Citrus Heights, California after a long battle with cancer.
He was born March 14, 1944 in Marmaduke, AR., to the late Floyd and Josie Terry Kuntz. A brother, Manford J. Kuntz also preceded him in death.
Lindell was a US Army retiree and a former employee of the Target stores in California.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lee Kuntz of the home; one son Michael Kuntz of Citrus Heights; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Scott McFarland and a granddaughter, Lillian Grace McFarland all of Woodstock, GA., sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Bud Hufford; and Freda and Robert Moore all of Paragould.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery . Lasting memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Graham Essex Coburn

 


Graham Essex Coburn, age 82, of Paragould, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008, at Monette Manor.
Born May 19, 1926, in Red Onion, AR. Mr. Coburn was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired farmer.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David and Aurora Coburn of Paragould; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca and Van C. Redman of Heber Springs, and Jeanette Hoskins of Paragould. He is also survived by two sisters, Marion Tracer of Rector, Joyce Pitts of Monette; the mother of his children, Juanice Coburn of Monette; two grandchildren, Rena DeBerry and husband, Trey, of Salem, VA., Tara Eastman and husband, Jesse of Concord, N.C.; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.


Mr. Coburn was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Grace Coburn; one brother, Winford Coburn; and by three sisters, Playfair Marret, Marcella Coburn and Patsy Jane Coburn.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Merle C. Richardson



Merle Crutchfield Richardson, age 80, of Jonesboro passed away Monday, November 10, 2008, at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born at Paragould September 21, 1928, into the family of Cleve and Carrie Cook Crutchfield. She was formerly employed by General Electric of Jonesboro and Emerson Electric in Paragould and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Dwain Morris of Pocahontas, and Lisa and Roger Smith of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren, Paul Morris of Bella Vista; Carrie Leonard of Maumelle, Aaron Ritter of Sycamore, Ill., and Jeremy Ritter of Raleigh; and one great-grandson, Jordan Ritter of Raleigh; one brother, Raymond Crutchfield of Paragould; and two sisters, Pearlene Lamb of Lakeland, FL., and Jo Ann Haun of Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.G. Richardson, and parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 13th at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with Marion Gramling officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include Paul Morris, Bobby Haun Jr., Kirk Leonard, Michael Crutchfield, Jeremy Ritter and Aaron Ritter.

Johnny Brent Todd Jr., age 41, of O’Kean, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2008.

He was born Oct. 17, 1967, at Pocahontas.

Survivors include his son, Randall Cummings of Pocahontas; parents, John and Kathy Todd of O’Kean; sisters, Charman Rowe of Pocahontas and Candace Ray of O’Kean; brother, Carl Todd of Paragould; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Velma Juanita Gray




Velma J. "Granny" Gray, age 84, of Light, passed away Wednesday November 12, 2008 at her residence. She was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment and was a member of Pruett Chapel Freewill Baptist Church of Light.
Born June 14, 1924, Velma was the daughter of the late Robert and Lillie Shelton. She is also preceded in death by her son, Michael Lavern Gray; grandson, Bryon Gray; and sister, Estelle Perkins.

Velma is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dorian and Linda Gray of Paragould, Paul Bryon and Barbara Gray of Paragould, Lee and Cathy Gray of Stanford, Randal and Connie Gray of Light, and Judy Gray of Paragould; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Major "Dob" Walker of Light and Karen Sue and Jerry Clifford of Oak Grove; brother and sisters-in-law, Rev. Melvin and Mary Lou Shelton of Pocahontas and Jeanette Gray of Little Rock; sister, Mary Ellen Wallace of Walnut Ridge; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Joy Fisher




Joy Jene Fisher, 77, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Fisher was born in Paragould, November 5, 1931, to Brodie and Lillian Howell. She was a housekeeper and a member of Mountain Home Church of Christ.


Survivors include three sons, Dr. William Fisher of Paragould, Dr. Timothy Mark Fisher of McMinnville, TN., and Jeffery Howard Fisher of Memphis; one brother, Wendell Howard of Kansas; and one sister, Fayrene Kieffner of Paragould. She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Fisher; her parents; and one brother, Max Howard.


Visitation will be from 6:00 until 9:00 pm, Friday, at the Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Dana Ruth Berry Woods, age 68, of Marmaduke, formerly of Rector, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center, Jonesboro.

She was born March 2, 1940, to Homer and Anita Berry at Rector.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husbands, Millard Leake, Ralph Pruett, Bill Elliott and George Woods.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Mark and Cynthia Leake of Lafe; daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie Buck of Rector, Julie and Mark Taylor of Arkadelphia and Melanie and Jay Clifft of Jonesboro; brother and his wife, Don and Terry Sue Berry of Kennett, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. in Irby Funeral Home at Rector with the Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. before services in the funeral home.

Blake Joseph Bailey, 18, of Paragould passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008.

Blake was born October 3, 1990. He had lived in Paragould all his life and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was a member of the Junior Air Force ROTC and was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Larry Gene Bailey.

Blake is survived by his parents, Mark and Pamela Bailey of the home; sister, Sarah Bailey, also of the home; paternal grandparents, Peggy Bailey and Doris Bailey, both of Paragould; maternal grandparents, Danny and Linda Rose of Jonesboro; maternal great-grandmother, Evelee Darnall of Jonesboro; uncles and aunts, Tony and Angela Bailey, Terry and Chalee Bailey and Yvette Hudson, all of Paragould, Stacey and Elisha Bailey of Crestview, Fla., Mark Rose, Jeff and Kelly Rose, and Chad and Tammy Rose, all of Jonesboro; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday November 17th in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Terry Gage and Andy Neal officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery.

Jack “JK” Moody, age 77, of Paragould passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008.

He was born Sunday, July 7, 1931, at Russellville to Floyd “Dan” and Effie King Moody.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Moody of the home; two sons, Don (Dana) Moody of Denton, TX., and Michael (Becky) Moody of Windermere, FL.; one daughter, Janet (Jim) Candelaria of Las Cruces, N.M.; six grandchildren, Stephanie Moody, Jessica and Jenna Candelaria, and John Michael, Michelle, and Alexandria Moody; Angelina Montella, the mother of Mr. Moody’s children; along with a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Neova “Jo” Isabel.

Mr. Moody was a member of MENSA, was a pilot, and loved his computer and traveling.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 18th at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home with interment following in Roosevelt Cemetery at Roosevelt.

Pamela A. Nelson, age 52, of Beech Grove passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008.

Born June 30, 1956, at Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Cyrus and Muriel Grady Raymer.

Survivors include her husband, William Nelson of the home; two daughters, Deborah (Shelly) Rotter of Rector and Rene Blackwell of Walnut Ridge; two sons, Nathaniel Nelson of Light and Chris Nelson of Little Rock; brother, John Raymer of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Jean Cruz of Jonesboro; and four grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 18th at 10 a.m. in the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel.

David William Ethridge



David William Ethridge, age 47, of Paragould, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008, at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. Ethridge was born April 19, 1961 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed at Emerson Electric. Mr. Ethridge was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of service. He enjoyed working on cars and outboard motors.

Survivors include three children, Hattie Elizabeth Ethridge, Shawnda Ethridge and David William Ethridge II, all of Paragould; his parents, Glenda (Niswonger) and the late Beeler Ethridge of Paragould; and two sisters, Belenda Shearer and Tracey (Ethridge) Osgood, also of Paragould

Funeral Services were held last Thursday at Cotrell Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial with full military honors was at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

Park Taylor Crafton



Park Taylor Crafton, age15, of Black Rock, passed away November 16, 2008 at Jonesboro. Born July 8, 1993 in North Little Rock, he was a ninth grade student at Black Rock Junior High, was a member of the Black Rock United Methodist Church, and had a close affiliation with the Paragould First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his father and step mother, Tim and Sheila Crafton of Jonesboro; his mother and step father, Clyda and Mark Massey of Black Rock; his grandparents, Wayland and Shelba Crafton of Paragould, and Clyde and Leila Park of Hope, Arkansas; his step grandparents, Mike and Della Ginger of Jonesboro and Donnis Massey of Jonesboro; one sister, Tarry Crafton of Black Rock; four step brothers and their spouses, Jordan Greenway, Brian and Beth Greenway, and Jed Massey, all of Jonesboro, and Eli and Becky Massey of Columbia, South Carolina; two step sisters and their spouses, Kate and Billy Hensley and Arla and Jason Jones, both of Jonesboro; one neice, Zoie Hensley; three nephews, Zeke Hensley, Ryan Massey and Seth Jones, and by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Barney "Pete" Fears, 92, of Beech Grove, passed away Monday, November 17, 2008 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Pete was born September 20, 1916, he was a retired farmer and attended Walcott Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Fears of Paragould; sons, Eddie Ray Fears and Charles Fears, both of Springfield, MO., daughters, Diana Manthey of Beech Grove and JoAnna Miles of Springfield, MO., seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Visitation is Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 at the Heath Funeral Home in Paragould.

Zohar Bobby Dean Pruitt



Zohar Bobby Dean Pruitt, age 46, of Paragould passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.

He was born October 25, 1962 in Rockford, IL. He had lived in Paragould for 15 years, moving there from Rockford. He was a licensed practical nurse for Mid-South Health Systems in Jonesboro and a member of the Temple Israel in Jonesboro. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Robert Pruitt, and three uncles.

He was survived by his spouse, John Walls of the home; two sons, Jordan Dean Pruitt of Paragould and Nehemiah David Pruitt of Rockford, Ill.; and one daughter, Heaven Pruitt of Rockford, IL.

He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Eugene and Eudean Rogers of Walnut Ridge; three brothers, Clyde Pruitt of Jonesboro, Scott Pruitt of O’Kean and Billy Pruitt of Paragould; and one sister, Deborah Perkins of Loves Park, IL.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 19th in the Temple Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi David Levenbach officiating. Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Barbara Lee Faughn, age 68, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born August 1, 1940, she was a former social worker and member of the Church of God.
Barbara was the daughter of the late Harvey and Lessa Newman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Sam Newman, Jessie Lee Newman, and James Willy Newman.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert Faughn of Paragould; sons and daughter-in-law, Edwin Faughn of Memphis and Philip and Cherye Faughn of Jonesboro; sister, Glenda Bowman of Lexington, TN., brothers, J.W. Newman of Blytheville and Ronnie Newman of Senath; granddaughters, Lanie and Amy Faughn, both of Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carrigan was born August 5, 1944, he was the owner/operator of Marvins Cleaning Service and a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Paragould.

Beeler Ethridge, age 83, of Paragould, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

He was born March 10, 1925, in Poplar Bluff, MO. He had retired from the City of Paragould Parks and Recreation Department.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Ethridge of Paragould; two daughters, Belenda Shearer and Tracey Osgood, both of Paragould; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His son passed away Saturday November 15th and was laid to rest Thursday, November 20th.

Lola Reed Wyatt, age 79, of Marmaduke, passed away November 20, 2008, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. She was born April 14, 1929 in Tipperary Community of Clay County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Arl and Esther Reed, twin daughters; Sandra and Linda Wyatt, sister; Mildred Reed, brothers; Grimsley Reed, Sheral Reed and Doyle Reed.

She worked at Saint Joseph Hospital of Mishawaka, IN., for over twenty years and returned to Arkansas upon retirement. She was a member of the First Church of God in Paragould where she served as a Sunday school teacher and nursery worker.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Wyatt of Marmaduke, sons and daughers-in-law; David and Bonnie Wyatt of Mishawaka, IN., Tim and Ann Wyatt of Farmers Branch, TX., daughters and son-in-law; Brenda and David Smith of Mishawaka, IN., Laura Steggert of Buford, GA., brothers and a sisters-in-law; Harold Reed, Dwight and Kathleen Reed of Paragould, Ralph and Lorena Reed of Welsh, LA., Thelbert Reed of Dearing, GA., sister and brother-in-law; Wilma and Dewan Lemonds of Marmaduke, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Flora Gertrude Jones, age 92, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Belle Meade Nursing Home.
Mrs. Jones was born March 6, 1916, in Greene County and was a retired licensed practical nurse. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church, and of the W.M.U.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Benny Carrobotta; her second husband, Leonard Robert Jones; and by three brothers, Willis, Byron and J. D. Cribbs.

Sammie Joe Walker, 61, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008, at his residence. Born April 15, 1947, in Paragould, Mr. Walker was a self-employed lumberjack.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Walker and Sammy Joe Walker, Jr., both of Fayetteville; two daughters, Angela Walker of Paragould and Melissa McGee of CA.; and a stepson, Ronnie Celis of CA.

He is also survived by three brothers, Danny Walker and Doc Walker, Jr, both of OK., and Ellis Walker of CA. six sisters, Sandra Rodriguez, Sharon Banning, Peggy Hunt, Melinda Dillon, and Karen Robertson, all of Paragould, Tootsie Walker of OR., and by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ava Lee Walker Davis, his father, Doc Walker, and by one brother, Eddie Walker.

Elizabeth Jane Cochran, age 93 of Jonesboro, formerly of Paragould, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at St. Bernard's Village.
Jane was born January 5, 1915, she was a beautician for 40 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was active in the Hospital Auxillary, a member of the Founders' Circle of the Endowment Foundation of Greene County, and Greene County Women's Charitable Endowment.

Auntie Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Cochran; parents, Ernest and Leona Hogland Bast; and sister, Kay Todd.
She is survived by her sister, Anna Brass of Jonesboro; nieces and nephews, Mary Ann and Dewayne Allen of Paragould and Martha and Alan Refkin of Ft. Susie Jane Hall Pippins, age 86, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Belle Meade Nursing Home. Born March 22, 1922 in Paragould, she retired from Ely & Walker and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son, Phillip A. Thomas "Harley" Wooldridge, age 82, of Paragould, passed away Friday, November 21, 2008
at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. Harley was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II.
He co-owned Wooldridge Grocery for 26 years and then spent eleven years in maintenance at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Harley was born June 16, 1926 the son of the late C.V. and Grace Wooldridge. He is also preceded in death by a son, Randy Wooldridge; brother, Hal Wooldridge; and sisters, Chestine Tribett and Aileen Powell.

Harley is survived by his wife, Hester McPherson Wooldridge of Paragould; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Karen Wooldridge of Paragould; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tom Graber of Paragould; granddaughters and grandson-in-law, Michaelina and Jeff Edgar and Jana McFadden, all of Paragould; great granddaughters, Tabitha McFadden and Sylvia Edgar, both of Paragould; brothers, Winston Wooldridge of Paragould, Cecil Wooldridge of Osceola, Paul Wooldridge of West Memphis, and Ben Wooldridge of Dixie; and several nieces and nephews.

James Hebert Tyler



James Hebert “Tim” Tyler, age 78, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday, November 21, 2008, at Belle Meade Nursing Home at Paragould.

He was born May 22, 1930, at Eaton to the late Grover and Nettie Tyler and lived at Paragould three years, formerly of Jonesboro. He was a retired farmer and worked for the City of Jonesboro Sanitation Department for eight years. He was of the Church of Christ belief and loved to sing, play his guitar and garden.

Survivors include two nieces, Patricia Nelson of Jonesboro and Peggy Peaster of Lake City; one nephew, Terry Vaughn of Jonesboro; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pine Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Don Vuncannon officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Eddie Fay Brown

 

Eddie Fay Faulkner~Brown, age 78, of North Little Rock, passed away, Friday, November 21, 2008. She was born October 2, 1930 in Paragould, AR., the daughter of Earl Faulkner and Dixie Welch. She was the widow of Clifford Brown.

Mrs. Brown was a retired secretary and of the Baptist faith.

 
Survivors include one son, Douglas (Kandy) Brown of Sherwood; two daughters, Marsha (Robert) Majors of North Little Rock, and Sara Brown of North Little Rock; two brothers, Charles (Alice) Faulkner of Rolla, MO., and Pat (Nancy) Faulkner of Sebring, FL., one grandson, Joshua (Heather) Majors of North Little Rock; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, and one brother.


Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2008, at Elmwood Cemetery with Bro. W. Coy Sample officiating by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

G.W. Wynn



G. W. “Dub” Wynn, age 71, of Paragould, was born June 8, 1937. He passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008, at his residence. Dub was a Paragould police officer, assistant police chief for 16 years, a Greene County deputy sheriff and a fire truck driver for the Paragould Fire Department. He attended Fairview Baptist Church.

G. W. was preceded in death by his parents, Grady James and Emma Lou Sutterfield Wynn; brothers, Ralph and Carl Wynn; and sister, Joyce Waldrum.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Vowell Wynn of the home; daughters, Gevonna Ogletree and husband, Stephen, of Cross Plains, Tenn., Lisa Ivie and husband, Jess, of Paragould; son, Robbie Wynn and wife, Amy, of Paragould; sisters, Juanita Grimes of Trumann, Loretta Coy of Flint, Mich., and Sue Gatlin of Paragould; brother, Jerry Wynn of Paragould; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 26th at Pine Log Cemetery with Rev. Larry Bulla officiating.

Floyd McClish
 



Floyd McClish, age 64, of Cardwell, MO., passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Green Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.
Born April 17, 1944, in Newport, he was the son of the late Walter and Bee Slayton McClish.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Loar, of Paragould and Michelle England, of Cardwell; one brother, Junior McClish, of Senath, MO.; two sisters, Mary Fae Dunigan and Jewell Carter, both of Cardwell and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Dunigan and one brother, Peanut McClish.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Wednesday, November 26th, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with Bill Snow and Rev. Truman Wycoff officiating.

Burial will be in the Cardwell Cemetery.

Raymond Sikes



Raymond Kenneth Sikes, age 77 passed way November 24, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. He was born July 1, 1931, in Octa, MO., to the late Herbert and Beulah Lemons Sikes.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and was the owner of Sikes Furniture in Arbyrd, MO., for several years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Joyce Johns, whom he married July 31, 1967.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenny Sikes and Curtis and Robin Lindsey, all of Paragould; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sondra and Jeff Flynn of Bentonville, Sherry and Danny Hoskins of Paragould and Donna and Dany Partlow of Dierks; one sister and brother-in-law, June and Richard Cummins of West Memphis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 26th at Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, Mo., with Rev. Allen Cureton officiating.

Rachel Norton
 


Ms. Rachel Faye Lucille Norton, age 23, of Manila passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008, in Paragould. Born November 10, 1985, in Jonesboro to William Sr. and Rebecca Manus Norton of Manila, Ms. Norton was a life-long area resident, homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She also enjoyed fishing and swimming.

Ms. Norton was preceded in death by one sister, Tiffany Norton, and one son, Cody.

Survivors include her parents; three sons, Orrie Norton, Cameturs Glover and Henry Glover; two daughters, Ka’Meacha Glover and Sh’Kaylin Glover, all of Manila; one brother, Frank Norton of Manila; one sister, Kimberly Norton of Paragould; and one niece, Natalie Edgin of Manila.

The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, December 1st at Faith Funeral Service in Manila. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Monette Cemetery in Monette with Rev. Larry Travelstead officiating.

Josh Applegate



Josh William Applegate, age 51, of Paragould, AR., died Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at his residence.
Born December 14, 1956, in Tell City, IN., son of Sarah Holmes and the late William Applegate, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

On December 18, 1976, in Watervliet, MI., he married Vickie Springer, who survives.

Survivors also include one son, William Applegate, of Paragould; one daughter, Amy Vose and husband, Richard, of Paragould; two brothers; 10 sisters; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Courtney Vose, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 29th , at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath, Mo., with Rev. George Haygood officiating.

Burial in Senath Cemetery.

Leola Mae Miles



Leola Mae “Lee” Miles, age 76, of Brookland, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Miles was born at Marmaduke on August 25, 1932, to the late Noey Allen and Ina Golda Jones. She had lived at Brookland for 44 years and was formerly of Monette. She was a homemaker and member of the Brookland Church of Christ.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening, flowers, her family and everyone she met.

Survivors include her husband, Farrell Miles; one son, Michael Miles and his wife Geni of Brookland; one grandson, Rodney Henry of Brookland; two sisters, Parthy Gossett of Jonesboro and Judy Turner of Paragould; one brother, Huston Jones of Bourbon, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 30th at the Brookland Church of Christ with John Mark Wilson and Lance Guest officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Honored to served as active pallbearers will be Ryan Manley, Jerry Evans, Charles Idol, Homer Lenderman, Jim Dooley, Dub Gatlin and Joe Mathis, and as honorary pallbearers, her adopted family at the Brookland Church of Christ.

Visitation for Mrs. Miles will be held this evening from 5 until7 in Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Mamie Iris Smith



Born November 24, 1911 Mamie Iris Smith, age 97 of Paragould passed away Friday, November 28, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. She was a resident of Greene Acres Nursing Home.
Mamie was a member of the Stanford Baptist Church for 80 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Smith, parents, Morris and Callie Seay Dacus, four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include, sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Joe and Lenora Smith and Tommy Ray and Ginny Smith of Paragould. Grandchildren, Jeff Smith, Gail Hedge, Jina Henson, Gigi Wilson, Scott Smith, Steve Smith, Brad Smith, 7 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren all of Paragould.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, December 1st at 10:00 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Rev. Marion Gramling officiating.

Roberta Watson



Roberta Watson, 81, of Corning died Friday, November 28, 2008, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born April 9, 1927, in Pollard to the late Robert and Rhoda Baker and was married October 30, 1944, to Pete Watson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Watson.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Watson of Corning; a son, Jim Watson of Corning; daughter-in-law, Patty Watson-Scheer of Corning; two grandchildren, Chad Watson and Aaron Watson of Corning; a brother, David Baker of Heber Springs; a sister, Jean Wilkie of Heber Springs; special nephew, Greg Watson of Franklin, Tenn., and five great-grandchildren, Chase, Kelsey, Kenlie, Hannah and Daniel Watson.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 30, in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Thavuis Lewis officiating. Burial was in Corning Cemetery. Ermert Funeral Home of Corning was in charge of arrangements.

Jessie Leonard Arnett, age 86, of Paragould passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.


He was born July 21, 1922, the son of the late Allen and Gertrude Parton Arnett. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Ida Hall, Lois Green and Marie Johnson; brother, Ernest Arnett. Survivors include sister, Louise Ferrell of Paragould and several nieces and nephews.

Thelma Lee Hager



Thelma Lee Hager, age 83, of Brookland passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center, Jonesboro.

She was born at Gainesville on January 10, 1925, to Luther and Myrtle Spurlock. Ms. Hager worked at Frolic Shoe Factory for many years and owned the Griddle Restaurant. She was a faithful member of the Brookland Church of Christ for more than 50 years.

She leaves behind her daughters and their husbands, Anna and Danny Mills of Jonesboro, Gloria and Don Foster of Paragould and Judy and Larry McLaughlin of Paragould; daughter-in-law, Evonne Hager Darrow of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Steve Shaw, Jay Shaw, Rodney McLaughlin, Todd McLaughlin, Eric Hager, Brett Foster and Darsha Lamb; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jewell Lawrence of Brookland, Movita Maxwell of Wildersville, Tenn., and Dorris Lemons of Jonesboro; and two sisters-in-law, Vera Nunn and JoAnn Swink.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Hager; a son, David Hager; a grandson, Wesley Don Foster; a brother, Jack Spurlock; and a sister, Dicy Brown.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 2nd at the Brookland Church of Christ beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Lance Guest and John Mark Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Steve Shaw, Jay Shaw, Rodney McLaughlin, Todd McLaughlin, Eric Hager and Brett Foster. Honorary pallbearers will include Granville Guest, Edgar Guest, Curt Groves, Curt Stokes, Wayne Farley and members of the Brookland Church of Christ.

Charles Scott Hopper



Charles Scott Hopper, age 76, of Paragould was born December 22, 1931, at Lake Village, the son of Ervin and Margaret Francis Hopper. He departed this life Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.

He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and was awarded a Purple Heart after serving in Korea. He was a supervisor at the Arkansas Highway Department and retired after 38 years.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dewayne Scott and Jackie Hopper of Paragould, Ronald Keith Hopper of Rector, and Tony Glen and Becky Hopper of Paragould. He is also survived by Tilda Streeter who raised him; one sister, Janie Smith of Lake Village; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; five grandchildren and two grandsons-in-law; Darlenia and Jerimy Crow of Marmaduke, Karen and Dave Hall of Brookland, Joshua and Amy Hopper of Paragould, and Derek Pritchard of Tennessee; and five great-grandchildren, Austin, Michael, Maranda and Kaylee Crow of Marmaduke, and Katelyn Hall of Brookland.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Ervin and Margaret Francis Hopper; wife, Esther Novolyne Hopper; and a great-grandson, Justin Matthew Hall. He was also preceded by relatives who raised him, Eli and Granny Lunnar Streeter.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 at the Heath Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 4th at 10 a.m. at the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Edgar Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Otto Furlong

 


Otto Furlong, 92, of Paragould, died November 29, 2008 at Green Acres Nursing Home. Born July 14, 1916 in Paragould, he was a retired cabinet maker, an Army veteran of WW-II, and a member of the Paragould First Assembly of God.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Candy Furlong of Sacramento, California; one step son and step daughter-in-law, Billy and Paulette Monk of Paragould; one step daughter and step son-in-law, Kathy and Dave Bennett of Tucson, Arizona; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillie Furlong: and one son, Benjamin Furlong.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 3, 1:30 P. M. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shannon Morgan officiating.
Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Dorothy Mae Autry



Dorothy Mae Autry, age 83, of Paragould passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. Dorothy was born September 12, 1925.

Dorothy was a lifetime cook, retiring from Captain Joe’s restaurant, and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Autry; son, James Floyd Autry; parents, Willis John and Mae Manus Fraysher; and brothers, John and Jack Fraysher.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Don Slatton of Patton, Mo., Wilma and Alan Summers of Evening Star, and Velma Autry of Paragould; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Nancy Autry of Paragould; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be this evening from 6 until 9 at the Heath Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 3rd at 1 p.m. in the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Don Slatton officiating. Burial will follow in Epsaba Cemetery.
