Ralph Wilson


Ralph O'Niel Wilson, 76, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born November 28, 1928, in Red Bay, Ala., he was an Army veteran of the Korean era. Mr. Wilson was a former die setter for Lyon Metal, Montgomery, Ill., and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church, Paragould.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Wilson of Paragould; three sons, Timothy Wilson and Gary Wilson, both of Paragould, Rick Wilson and wife, Jeanne, of Chenoa, Ill.; two daughters, Tina Huffman and husband, Norman, of Paragould, Gwen Gibson and husband, Greg, of Sheridan, Ill.. He is also survived by one half-brother, Lee Wilson of Hamilton, Ala.; one sister, Ruth Ewing of Tishomingo, Miss.; one half-sister, Hazel Middleton of Cedartown, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and by two special daughters-in-law, Diane Wilson and Kathy Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neely and Linnie Wilson; two half-sisters; and one son-in-law.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-9 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Pentecostal Church with James Warbington officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

David Hess, Timmy Wilson, Robert Wilson, Michael Wilson, Tristan Wilson, Greg Gibson, Anthony Wilson and Dennis Reed will serve as pallbearers.

Sarah Frances Lloyd Singleton



Sarah Frances Lloyd Singleton, a resident of Greene Acres Nursing Home, formerly of Cardwell, Missouri, died Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould.
She was born November 20, 1916, in Newton County, Georgia and would have been 89 this month. She is a christian and worshipped with the Church of Christ in Cardwell, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Borden D. Singleton; her parents, Howard and Susie Lloyd; two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Pat Singleton of Paragould, David and JoAnn Singleton of Bloomfield, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Edward Walls of Arbyrd; one brother, Chestene Loyd of Paragould; two sisters, Nell Vincent and Ruth Beggs of Michigan. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and by five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Harrison and Herbert Starr officiating. Burial will follow in the Cardwell Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Chuck Walls, Kevin Singleton, Lanz Loyd, Jason Higgins, Joe Dan Loftin and Jim Skaggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Ritchard Zolman, Chuckie Walls, Mitchell Skaggs, Daniel Loftin, Wayne McLemore and Michael Singleton.

Geraldine L. “Jerry” Williams


Jerry went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 1, 2005. Services for Geraldine L. “Jerry” Williams of Bossier City, Louisiana will be held at 1 p.m. today on November 4, 2005, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Officiating the ceremony will be Barksdale Air Force Base Chaplain Effson Bryant. Burial will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park.

Jerry was born in Paragould, Arkansas to the late Taylor and Nora Cructchfield. She was awarded the first diploma in music at Paragould High School and received a scholarship to college. She was an accomplished pianist and won several awards fro her talents. Jerry loved playing golf and was a member of the Barksdale Golf Club. She was also a member of the Barksdale Officer's Wives Club and the Doriane Music Club. Jerry was a faithful member of the Barksdale Air Force Base Chapel where she had many friends. She enjoyed her daily walks with her dear dog, “Scooter,” and working crossword puzzles.

Jerry's greatest joy in life was her family. She unselfishly gave of herself and expected nothing in return. She was a cherished mother and grandmother and affectionately known as “Nan” to her grandchildren. Her loving smile and laughter will be greatly missed by all whose paths she crossed.
Jerry is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Col. Alvin A. Williams, USAF Ret., and her cherished sister, Dorothy Crutchfield. Survivors include her devoted son, Dale L. Williams, and two adoring grandchildren, Christopher BEau Williams and Kristi L. Williams.

Pallbearers will be Ron D. Henry, Kyle L. Hand, Michael D. Belanger, Bernie Hawk, Douglas Rogers and Gary Roach. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Rogers, Lt. Col. (Ret.), Kenneth Wood, Maj. (Ret.) Angus L. Strickland, Jr., Navy Chief (Ret.) Tom Prest, and August Moraw.

The family would like to express their sincere apprication to Dr. John Chandler, the nursing staff, and especially the ICU staff at WIllis-Knighton Bossier. The family would like to extend a “special thanks” to Robin Thomas for her kindness and care.

Bobbie Horton


Bobbie Horton, 86 of Paragould, died Friday, November 4, 2005 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born on January 6, 1919 in Greene County, Arkansas.
She was a former country store owner and a member of the Clark's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her son Billy Mac Stricklin, one sister: Maxine Fletcher, two grandchildren: Jon Stricklin, Debbie Crabtree and two great grandchildren: Nathan Stricklin and Ashley Bogan, all of Paragould.

Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by: her husband: Tom Horton and her parents: Boss and Parlee Stricklin.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Finch Baptist Church with Wilburn Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Finch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will include: Mike Bogan, Tommy Clubb, Allen Griffin, Darrell Levins, J.R. Strope and Radus Mikel.

Ruth Beadles Hampton


Ruth Beadles Hampton, 93 of Paragould, died Friday, November 4, 2005 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born on April 23, 1912 in Anderson, Missouri. She formerly worked at the Paragould Laundry and Dry Cleaners and was a member of Lake Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include: three daughters: Joann Grant and Betty Cook, both of Paragould, and Nancy Smart of Southaven, Mississippi, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hampton was preceded in death by her husband: D.W. “Doc” Hampton, her parents: George and Rachel Beadles, four brothers: William Beadles, Cockey Beadles, Robert Beadles and Rube Beadles, two sisters: Sally Dallard and Hattie Beadles and by one great granddaughter.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Linwood Cemetery with Wayne Faulkner officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will include: Phil Williams, Ramie Robinson, Ronnie Hopper, Scott Mosier, Richard Chipman and George Beadles.

Carl Henderson



Carl Wayne Henderson, 56, of Paragould died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at his residence.

Born March 31, 1949, in San Francisco, he was a licensed arborist. Mr. Henderson was very active with the Boy Scouts. He was a Scoutmaster and Scout Leader of Troop 500 for 25 years. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Toni Henderson of the home; his mother, Shirley Sims of Cadiz, Ky.; his stepmother, Margie Mendenhall of El Cajon, Calif.; one son, Daniel Shawn Hunt, and two daughters, Cynthia Armstrong and Leah Hunt, all of Paragould. He is also survived by one sister, Kathy Henderson of California; and one grandson, Kaleb Rayne Armstrong of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Henderson; one brother, Lyle Buddy Henderson; and by one sister, Jeanelle King.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Glen Smith, Andy Fulkerson and Tim Cliff officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery.

Andy Fulkerson, Tim Cliff, Jeff Puryear, Del Armstrong, Steve Lynn and Scott Lane will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Shipman, Charlie Karow, Richie Emmert and Mike Garner.

Clyde Gramling



Clyde Gramling, 92, of Walcott died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at Paragould Nursing Center.

Born Oct. 31, 1913, in Walcott. Mr. Gramling was a farmer and member of Walcott Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Harry Gramling; one niece, Bertina Emery; two nephews, Ronnie Gramling and Larry Gramling; two great-nephews, Richard Newberry and Roger Newberry, all of Walcott.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Marion Gramling officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until time of service at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Marty Klemmer, Robert Riley, James Riley, Darrell Levins, Herbert Granger III and Steve Wilson.

Mildred Sarah Leech



Mildred Sarah Leech, 89, of Benton, formerly of Oak Grove, died November 8, 2005 in Benton. Born September 22, 1916 in Brookland to Elmer and Addie Sims Johnston, she was a homemaker and a member of the 1st Church of God in Memphis.

Survivors include four sons, Eugene Leech of Millington, Tenn., Everett Wayne Leech of Jacksonville, Fla., Harold Leech of Dyersburg, Tenn. and Hershel Leech of Bartlett, Tenn.; one daughter, Celia Wright of Benton; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Stanley E. Leech.

Funeral services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Gray officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Leech, Anthony Leech, James Lenagar, John Simpson, John Williams and Kyle Simpson.

Michael Edward Call



Michael Edward Call, of Little Rock, AR, passed away on November 8, 2005, at age 56. He was born January 1, 1949, to James Edward and Myrle “Walker” Call.

He is survived by two sons, Todd Call of Fayetteville, AR, Seth Call of Austin, Texas, one daughter Bethany Call of Little Rock, AR, one grandson Logan Call, his mother Myrle “Walker” Call, and two cousins Myrna Camp and Eddie Gene Wright of Paragould.

Funeral at Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home, 5800 N. 12th Street Little Rock, AR, at 10 a.m. today, with Bro. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery, Lafe, AR, at approximately 2 to 2:30 p.m. today with Eddie Gene Wright officiating.

John Robert Garris


John Robert Garris, 39, of Paragould died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

He was a truck driver for JMS Metal Services in Jonesboro.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine Flowers Garris; and one brother, Tim Garris.

Survivors include sisters, Joni Gatlin of Paragould and Lori Everett of Augusta, Ga.; brothers, William and Larry Garris of Blairsville, Pa., and James Flowers of Homer City, Pa.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Gage officiating. Burial will follow in Finch Cemetery at Paragould.

Pallbearers: Keith Gatlin, Steve Myatt, Scott Scalf, Wesley Williams, Brad Davis, Jeffery Jones and alternate, Travis Gatlin.

Charles Richey


Charles Richey was born July 21, 1938, to the late Otto Richey and Faye (Davis) Richey and departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the age of 67 years, four months and twenty days.

Mr. Richey was a retired farmer, and he belonged to the First Baptist Church of Marmaduke. He was a member of the Marmaduke School Board for many years, a member of the Greene County Quorum Court, the Delta Cotton Co-op Board, the PCA and a justice of the peace.

He was survived by his wife, Phyllis Richey of Marmaduke; two sons, Steve Richey and wife, Ginger, and Charles Keith Richey and wife, Debbie, all of Marmaduke; one daughter, Kristy Wilson and husband, Terry, of Walnut Ridge; seven brothers, Otis Richey and Bud Richey, both of Phoenix, Eugene Richey and Rodney Richey of Paragould, Roger Richey of Jonesboro, Carl Richey of Benton and Gary Richey of Paragould; four sisters, Irene Hawley and Brenda Jordan of Marmaduke, Mada Barrett of Lumbertown, Texas, and Martha Kamarat of Jacksonville, Fla. He also had eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke with Brother Carl Richey and Brother Kim Bridges officiating.

Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. in the chapel at Marmaduke. Interment will be at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke.

Ronnie Lee Morgan



Ronnie Lee Morgan, 56, of Paragould, died November 11, 2005 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born March 25, 1949, in Marmaduke, he was a draftsman and a member of Greater Visions Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Morgan of the home; one stepson, Robert Anderson of Aeia, Hawaii; one daughter, Karen Kelton of Memphis; one sister, Alma Rodrigez of Paragould; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Morgan; his mother, Ocie Wright; three brothers, Bill, Elvis and Mondal Morgan; and one infant sister.

Funeral services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in Finch Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 1:30 p.m. until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home.

David Eugene Stedman


David Eugene Stedman, 52, of Paragould died Friday, November 11, 2005, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Stedman; daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Stan Owens, Samantha and Shawn Vardell of Paragould; stepson, Jason Stewart of Paragould; brothers, Robert Stedman of Youngstown, Ohio, and Clifford Stedman of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; and two grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Dixie Stedman; brother, Gerald Stedman; son, David Stedman.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 18, 2005, at Southside Church of Christ in Paragould at 1 p.m.

Charles Metz



Charles Metz, 51, of Paragould died Saturday, November 12, 2005 at his residence.

Born in Paragould, he was a former employee of Emerson Electric and of the Church of Christ belief.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hardin Metz of the home; his mother, Dorothy Hall of Paragould; a son, Charles Aaron Metz of Paragould; a daughter, Leah Retherford of Paragould; three brothers, Darrell Metz, Jr. and Terry Metz both of Paragould, and Virgil Metz of Jonesboro; two sisters, Sherry Metz and Lura Metz both of Paragould; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Darrell Metz, Sr. and a sister, Mary Ann Metz.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel, with Wayne McGill officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery.

Patty L. Owens, 32, of Trumann died Saturday, November 12, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Jonesboro, Mrs. Owens lived most of her life in the Trumann and Harrisburg areas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Southside Apostolic Church near Jonesboro.

Survivors include her husband, John Owens of the home; a son, Johnny Ray Owens, and a daughter, Rebecca LeAnna Owens, both of the home; her mother, Mary Shotts of Trumann; her father, Steven Williams of Clarksville; brothers, Steven Williams of Trumann and Gary Williams of Jonesboro; grandfather, Jerry Brooks of Trumann.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Emerson Chapel with the Rev. George Ezell officiating. Burial will follow in Epasaba Cemetery near Beech Grove.

Minnie Imogene Flanrey



Minnie Imogene Flanrey, 81, of Paragould, died November 13, 2005 at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Born August 21, 1924, in Greene County, she was retired from Emerson Electric and was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Jim and his wife Carolyn Flanrey of Paragould; four daughters, Jennie Rogers and her husband Donnie of Mountain Home, Gail Hill and her husband Ronnie of Paragould, Sandi Boyd and her husband Harold of Paragould, and Lisa Southard of Paragould; one sister Pearl Davis of Paragould; one sister-in-law, Kathryn Lemmons of Bonne Terre, Missouri; and by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hervey and Lillie Ellington; her husband, Marion Flanrey; one sister, Meryl York; and one brother, Donald Ellington.

Virginia Dare Rousseau



Virgina Dare Rousseau, 74, of Paragould, died November 13, 2005 at her home. Born May 10, 1931, at Alexander, she was a former cook for several area restaurants and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Joby C. Rousseau and his wife Elizabeth of Paragould and Jimmy Rousseau and his wife Marylou of Keiser; one sister, Ann Lofton of Danville, Indiana; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Glennis Jones; her husband, Joby W. Rousseau; one daughter, Sharon Ewing Nelson; one granddaughter, Jonie Nelson; one brother, Roy Jones; and one sister, Pat Walker.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Junior Vester and Dennis Davis officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Caden Hunter Young


Caden Hunter Young, infant son of Mark Ford and Tiffany Young died Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Additional survivors include maternal grandparents, Cheri and Jessie Young; paternal grandparents, J.C. and Sharon Blanchard.

Betty Olean Isom



Betty Olean Isom, 56, of Paragould, died November 14, 2005 at her home. Born March 8, 1949, in Paragould, she was a homemaker and a member of the Paragould Church of God.

She is survived by her mother, Lucille Tracy of Warrenton, Missouri; her husband, Earnest Isom of Paragould; three sons, Chesley Isom and his wife Renee of Lafe, Edward Isom Sr. and his wife Janet of Paragould, and Tracy Isom of Paragould; one daughter, Juanita Tate and her husband Jerry Jr. of Paragould; four brothers, George, Jimmy, Charlie and Jerry Tracy, all of Warrenton, Missouri; one sister, Brenda Catron of Warrenton, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Tracy; two brothers, Donald and Frankie Tracy; one sister, Mary Furgeson; and by one grandchild, Carla Luann Isom.

Moffit Alan Wyatt




Moffit Alan Wyatt, 74, of Paragould, died Monday, November 14, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born November 23, 1930, the son of the late Marion Wyatt, Sr. and the late Ida (Craft) Rockwell.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Maries Dussold; brother, Weslie A. C. Wyatt Sr. and grandson, Cpl. Matthew Alan Wyatt, USMC. Wyatt was retired from General Electric Major Appliance Co. where he was a service technician. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Korean Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Millie Wyatt of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie L. and Jethro “Bo” Hester of Paragould; two sons and a daughter-in-law, GySgt Alan D. Wyatt, USMC, retired, and Lauren of Baltimore, Maryland, and SFC Kevin R. Wyatt, US Army, of Saint Peters, Missouri; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley M. and Wally Byrd of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Rhoda R. and Dennis Pruitt of Pomona, Missouri, Darlene J. and Steve Huston of Tolar, Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion F. and Francis Wyatt Jr. of San Angelo, Texas, Wayne W. and Carol Wyatt of Dittmer, Missouri, Roy A. and Jeri Wyatt of Desloge, Missouri; two grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law, Spc. Erik C. Tabers, US Army, and Ashlie and Jason Lynn Tabers and Brianne deployed to Iraq.

Heaven Petrice Wofford, 5 months, of Paragould passed away Nov. 14, 2005.

She is survived by her parents, Jerrod Wofford and Crystal Quintanilla, both of Paragould; grandparents, Gabriel Lopez and Patty Lamas, of Victoria, Texas, and Dale and Tonnie Wofford of Piggott; and great-grandparents, Bob and Marsha Burns of Rector and Vada Wofford of Paragould.

Funeral services are Saturday at 2 p.m. with Anthony Strickland officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy Lynn Cooper


Nancy Lynn Cooper, 28, of Mountain View, Arkansas died November 15, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Cooper was born on August 12, 1977, at Calico Rock, Arkansas. She was a wood worker and a member of the Pentecost Faith Tabernacle.

Survivors include: her husband, Jimmy Dale Cooper of Paragould; one son: Donovan Cooper of the home; one daughter, Amanda Cooper of the home; her parents, Leonard and Raydean Lewis; one brother, Ivan Lewis and two sisters, Karen Wallis and Jamie Minott all of Mountain View.

Jon Kevin Bishop, 38, of Paragould died Friday, Nov. 16, 2005 at his residence.

Born at Fort Bragg, N.C., he was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Travis of Jonesboro; his father, Charles Bishop of Utah; daughter, Christina Bishop of California; brother, Charles Todd Bishop of Jonesboro; and two sisters, Chasity Hannah of Trumann and Misty Hines of Jonesboro.

Mrs. A. Freeda Whitlow, 70, of Paragould died Thursday, Nov. 17 2005 at her residence.

Mrs. Whitlow was born on Sept. 27, 1935, in Eaton. She was a retired beautician and owned a beauty shop. She was a member of the Southside Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Joe Whitlow, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Brenda Whitlow of Paragould, former residents of Love's Park, Ill.; one sister, Barbara Jean Smith of Olive Branch, Miss.; and six grandchildren, Melissa Lisney, Jonathan Whitlow, Jedediah Overton, Carl Lisney, Christofer Whitlow and Everett Overton.

Mrs. Whitlow was preceded in death by her parents, Edsel and Alpha Hathcock; one daughter, Lisa Marie Whitlow; and one brother, Darrell Hathcock.

Tina McDaniel



Tina McDaniel, 83, of Paragould died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was an optometrist assistant for Dr. Charles M. Bowers office for over 30 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Glenna Rose Circle, Business and Professional Women, Democratic Women, Homemakers Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Arkansas Methodist Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow McDaniel, and parents, Obe and Velma Thompson Lovelace and M.D. Walden.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Alice Jane and Al Miller of Forrest City and Woodie Sue and Bud Herlein of Jonesboro; brothers, Tom Lovelace of Jonesboro, Obie Lovelace of Sidon, Miss., Robert Walden of Jonesboro, and Kenneth Walden of Layton, Utah; one sister, Wanda Atwood of Jonesboro; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paul Dubar, Zach Roberts and Raymond Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in Woods Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church.

Flora Mae Batey Schug


Flora Mae Batey Schug died Monday, November 21, 2005 at Greene Acres Nursing Home, one night before her 94th birthday.

Born on Nov. 22, 1911, in Schugtown, she was a homemaker and an avid gardener. Mrs. Schug was a lifetime member of the Mulberry Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Fritzie and Bob Rowe of Schugtown; one sister-in-law, Mary Bean of Schugtown; six grandchildren, Larry Cameron, and wife, June, Drew Cameron, Vince Cameron, Keith Pillow, David Schug, and wife, Stacy, and Leah Pratt and husband, Joe. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Aaron Cameron, Justin Pillow, Weston Schug and Andi Pratt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Sophia Batey; her husband, Add Schug; one son, Andy A. G. Schug; one daughter, Anita Cameron; two sisters, Inez Batey and Grace Cummins; three brothers, Herchel Batey, George Batey and Winford Batey; and one grandson, Randy Cameron.

The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, with Weldon Parkinson and Bill Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.

Bertha Marie Wren



Bertha Marie Wren, 87, of Paragould died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born October 18, 1918 in Greene County, Mrs. Wren was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include a son, Jim Earl Heritage of Reyno; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and four sisters.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Pruett's Chapel Cemetery. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m., Friday. There will be no public visitation.

Glen A. 'Jabo' Ryan


Glen A. "Jabo" Ryan, 85, of Paragould died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005 at Arkansas Medthodist Medical Center.

He was a retired elementary principal, having started his teaching career in Walcott. He coached basketball at Lakeside elementary, and was principal for Light Elementary, Greene County (South School), Rector Elementary, Leachville Elementary and at Southland, Mo. Elementary. He retired in 1977. He was a member of the Rosewood Baptist Church, having served as Deacon, Treasurer, Organist, song leader and Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in Calcutta and Bombay, India. He was a Tech. Sgt. over airplane maintenance on P-38s and P-40 Flying Tigers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin A. and Mary Willcoxson Ryan; and two brothers, Allyn and Bob Ryan.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ethelene Williams Ryan; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Glen and Vicky Ryan of Paragould and Al and Harriet Ryan of Lafe; a brother, L.V. Ryan of Paragould; two sisters, Clarice Lovelace and Donna Smith of Jonesboro and Peggy Dunn of Walcott; four grandchildren, Heather Ryan, Nicole Threlkeld, Natalie Ryan and Alex Ryan; and a great-grandchild, Kyleigh Threlkeld.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-9 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rosewood Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Hutto and Marion Gramling officiating.

Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rosewood Baptist Church.

Delmar Allen McDonald



Delmar Allen McDonald, 73, of Paragould, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at his residence. He was born March 12, 1932, in Coldwater, Missouri, to Alvin and Mabel McDonald.

Mr. McDonald was a retired construction worker and former owner of McDonald Garage Doors. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean war and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Rose McDonald of the home; one son, Terry McDonald; two daughters, Vicki Lamb and Wendy McDonald, all of Paragould. He is also survived by one brother, Darrell McDonald of Euless, Texas; two sisters, Peggy Webster of Light, Sue McDonald of New Orleans, Louisiana; and by four grandchildren, Sarah Lamb, Ally Sims, Lora Sims and Steven Lamb, all of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jim, Bob and Ed McDonald; one granddaughter, Jessica McDonald; and by his first wife, Sharon McDonald.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould.

Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Monday, graveside, at Finch Cemetery with Troy Mackey officiating. The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Randal Ward, Frank Chapps Jr., Mark McDonald, Randall Siebert, Gary Patterson, and Shawn Farley will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Lamb and Michael Harshbarger.

L.A. “Dude” Holloway


L.A. “Dude” Holloway, 82 of Paragould, Arkansas, formerly of Marked Tree, died Thursday, November 24, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He served in the U.S. Navy and was in World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marked Tree and a member of the Marked Tree Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his wife, “Doll” Holloway.

Survivors include:
Daughter, Donna Evans, Paragould.

Grandchildren, James Brashears, Tommy Brashears and Melissa Greer all of Paragould.

Seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at noon today at First Baptist Church in Marked Tree with Bro. Stacy Prater officiating and burial to follow at 2 p.m. in the New Friendship Cemetery at Paragould. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Tommy Brashears, James Brashears, Lance Greer, Lance McDaniel, Phillip Newcomb, and Frankie Frans. Honorary pallbearer is Billy Jennings.

John Darrell Newberry


John Darrell Newberry, 73, of Paragould, died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock. He was born October 27, 1932, the son of the late John and Maslette Cummings Newberry. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Newberry. John was retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service and is a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of Walcott Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Newberry of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Ty Stephens of Jonesboro, Susan and James Reeves of Paragould; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jan Newberry of Crossett, Kenneth and Debbie Newberry of Paragould; sister, Oladean Stolle of Mountain Home; brother, Larry Newberry of Ontario, California; grandchildren, Letisha, Laura, Shaunda, Nathan, Shannon, Brad, Sean, Andrea, Eric and Jeremy and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Heath Colonial Chapel with Larry Kitchens presiding. Chrystal Virginia Little


Chrystal Virginia Little, 84, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at her residence in Greene County.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1920, at Campbell, Mo. Mrs. Little was a member of River of Life United Pentecostal Church and a retired cook.

Survivors include three sons, Carrol Brewer of Jonesboro, Freddie Brewer of Timmonsville, S.C., and Kenneth Brewer of Batesville; a stepdaughter, Ona Rushing of Fisk, Mo.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her first husband, Buford Brewer; her second husband, Orville Little; three sons, Richard, Cecil and Dale Brewer; a brother; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Funeral Home, with Rick Ethridge officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Walter L. 'Bud' Crawford


Walter L. "Bud" Crawford, 75, of Paragould died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005 at his residence.

Born in Craighead County, he was a retired carpenter with Crawford Construction, a lifetime member and past commander of Jonesboro Chapter 26 of the Disabled American Veterans, served during the Korean conflict and was a member of the Rosewood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Nutt Crawford; a son, Walter "Lee" Crawford and his wife, Belinda; two grandchildren, Matt and Whitney Simpson, all of Paragould; three brothers, Glenn Crawford of Jonesboro, Johnie Crawford of Brookland and Sammie Crawford of Paragould; and two sisters, Mildred Wall of Brookland and Brenda Roach of Walcott.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Alma Crawford; and a brother, James Crawford.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Don Hutto and Marion Gramling officiating. Burial will follow in Lorado Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Shannon Hilliard, Phillip Dunn, James Crawford, Melvin Miller, Samuel Crawford and Mike Gregson.

Baby David Lee Miller was born and died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Calvin Perry Spence


Calvin Perry Spence, 79, of Conway, was taken to heaven Sunday, November 27, 2005   with his loving  wife and children by his side.

Perry converted to the Catholic Church in 1958 at St. Anne's Church, where he was an active member until his passing.

He was born February 28, 1926, in Greene County to Clyde L. and Francis L. Spence.

He served in the Navy during World War II before marrying the former Anna Magdaline Terry, on February 28, 1948, at St. Francis Cathedral in Peoria, Ill. The family moved to North Little Rock in 1951, before he and Maggie retired to Conway in 1987.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie Spence; four sons, Stanley and his wife Sharon, Clyde and wife Robyn, Tony and wife Jamie, and Matthew and wife Trachele; four daughters, Edie Engel and husband Ben and Brenda, Mitzi and Patricia Spence; 14 grandchildren, Heather Olvey, Holly Heer, Jeremy, Amanda, Jessie, Stephanie, Heather, Michael Jr., Brendan, Leslie, Danielle, Caroline, Maddie and Anna Grace Spence; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Paris, Max, Cassidy and Abigail; three step-granddaughters, Jodie Engel, Erica Small and Amy Oliver; and a brother, Gerald Spence.

Myrtle Mae Dowler


Myrtle Mae Dowler, 77, of Hooker died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at her residence.

Born Nov. 18, 1928, in Hooker, Mrs. Dowler was a homemaker and a member of the Gainesville Church of Christ.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Karen Dowler of Hooker, Ronnie and Donna Dowler of Mabelvale, Gary and Brenda Dowler of Hooker; five daughters, Annette Chunn of Paragould, Carol Kibler of Halliday, Belinda Dowler, Vickie Finley, Toni Rouse; and husband, Stanley, all of Hooker. She is also survived by one sister, Verta Rae Bennett of Pocahontas; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dowler was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Gladys Askins; her husband, Tony Dowler; two sons, Tony Dewayne and Ricky David; one daughter, Glenda Gale; and by two sisters, Wanda Franklin and Freda Fay Askins.

Jerry Thomas Williams


Jerry Thomas Williams, 54, of Paragould died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005.

He was born Feb. 21, 1951, son of Tomazene and the late Weldon Williams.

Survivors include mother, Tomazene Williams, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by brother Gary Williams and grandparents, P.W. and Ella Williams, and Troy and Bertha Bryant.

Graveside services are 1 p.m. Friday at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Marion Gramling officiating. Procession will leave Heath Funeral Home at 12:45 p.m.

Wilma Burroughs


Bera Wilma "Totsie" Burroughs, 104, of Paragould, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Born Oct. 9, 1901, at O'Kean in Greene County, Mrs. Burroughs was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Betty Burroughs; a grandson, Lynn Burroughs; and three great-grandsons, Bryan, Alex and Zach Burroughs, all of Paragould.

She is also survived by a nephew, Roy McSpadden of Paragould; a niece, Mary Nancy Chappel of Memphis; and a host of grandnieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Beulah Snowden; her husband, Leonard Burroughs; a son, L. B. Burroughs Jr.; a brother; two half brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. today in Mitchell Funeral Home at Paragould.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with David Chappel officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Darrell Wayne Hayden


Darrell Wayne Hayden, 63, of Paragould, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at his residence. An Army veteran of Vietnam, Mr. Hayden was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Leachville. He was an employee of Frito Lay and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Hayden of the home; three stepsons, John Clark and Tim Clark, both of Beech Grove, and Daniel Clark of Paragould; and one stepdaughter, Darla George of Paragould. He is also survived by one sister and a brother-in-law, Jean and Rick Rogers of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; one niece; three nephews; six great-nieces and five great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Vama Hayden; and by one son, Paul Wayne Hayden.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Kenny Crafton officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Funeral Home.

John Clark, Tim Clark, Kenny Moore, Tim Bennett, Dennis Pate and Barry Hay will serve as pallbearers.
