Kay Branch, 67, of Paragould died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born at Paragould, she was a homemaker and a member of Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Branch of the home; one daughter, Melissa Liddle of Cabot, and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Ella Mae Oliver, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church, with Michael Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dennis Ray Cook



Dennis Ray Cook, 70, of Jonesboro, formerly of the Fontain community, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Retired from Craighead Farm Cooperative of Jonesboro, he was an Army veteran, a member of the American Legion in Jonesboro, and of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include a wife, Phyllis Cook of the home; a daughter, Donna J. Cook of Jonesboro; a sister, Patricia Gifford of Paragould; a brother, Marvell Cook of Cherokee Village; and two grandchildren, Adele Denise Snyder and Bradley Ray Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Avery and Rose Mae Cook, and a brother.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with Jimmy Adcox officiating. Burial will be in Lorado Cemetery at the Lorado community.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kathy Lynn Gunn

Kathy Lynn Gunn, 52, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died on Thursday, November 4, 2004, at the University Hospital. Mrs. Gunn was born on November 24, 1952, she was a registered nurse and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: her husband: Logan Gunn of Paragould, two sons: Aaron Farmer and his wife Jannee' Linkous of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Jonathan Price and his wife Brook Price of Paragould, her mother: Lorene Lamb of Sherwood, Arkansas, one brother: Jim Lamb of St. Louis, Missouri, one sister, Kaye Williams of Centerton, Arkansas, and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her father: Onis Marshall Lamb.

Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Conley Williams; burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Larry Joe Harvey



Larry Joe Harvey, 42, of Paragould died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004 at Atlanta.

Survivors include one daughter, Kira Jewell of St. Augustine, Fla.; five brothers, John Harvey of Corning, Robert Harvey, Jim Harvey and Mike Harvey, all of Paragould, and Junior Harvey of Gregory, Mich.; and three sisters, Linda Ellenburg of Etowah, Shirley Rangnow of Paragould and Rosie Thomas of Kalamazoo, Mich.

No funeral services were announced.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home.

Bobby Dearl Maple


Bobby Dearl Maple, 64, of Light died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at his residence.

Born at Fontaine, he was a farmer and member of Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Maple of Light; two sons, Lanny Walker of Light and Michael Bellow of Bono; three daughters, Jennifer Maple and Deborah Walker, both of Light, and Rebecca Marshall of Paragould; three brothers, Glen Maple of Light, Leonard Maple of O'Kean and Donald Maple of Jonesboro; three sisters, Jo Anna Miller of Light, Dottie Gossett of Jonesboro and Peggy Whitlow of Black Rock; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.W. "Buck" and Lida McCarty Maple, and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Heath Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Carter Grindstaff officiating. Burial will be in Lorado Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Justin Eric Griggs



Justin Eric Griggs, 21, of Paragould died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 in Cross County.

Born October 9, 1983, in Paragould, he was a 2002 graduate of Paragould High School, where he was a 4-year member of the Junior ROTC Ram Battalion. He was employed by J.T. Motorsports in Jonesboro and a member of Third Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Tina Hall of Paragould; a sister, Gina Brown of Paragould; his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Jean Williams of Paragould; and his paternal grandparents, Jim and Norma Ladyman of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Earl Griggs; and his stepmother, Linda Jewel Griggs.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, with Bob Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kelly, Jason Coleman, Jamie Cox, John Hambrick, Cory Huckabee, Darrell Walker and Shannon Gill.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Carl Leroy Funk



Carl Leroy Funk, 88, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Casey, Ill., he was a longtime resident of Illinois, was retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Bronnie Cooper Funk of the home; a son, Ronnie Funk; three stepsons, Millard Cooper of Jonesboro, Terry Cooper of Oklahoma and Bill Wagner of Illinois; a stepdaughter, Carol Wall of Illinois; a sister, Eleanor Murford of Illinois; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church, with Robert Gunnels officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery in Paragould under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Albert Allen, Randy Dixon, Gaylon Crain, Don Coleman, Elmo Mahan and Gaylon Cooper.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Matilda Ethel Richmond


Matilda Ethel Richmond, 84, formerly of Paragould, died Sunday, November 7, 2004, at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Colton, California.

Born May 29, 1920, in Paragould, Mrs. Richmond retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Anderson and Ken Topley of Northville, Michigan and Janie and Ken Schaffer of Chino Hills, California. She is also survived by four brothers, Lester Hammon of Paragould, Melvin Hammon of Burton, Michigan, Norman Hammon of Ridgecrest, California, and Eugene Hammon of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two sisters, Althea Hester of Gladstone, Missouri and Ruth Rhodes of Paragould; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., today at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Elaine Rippy Roberts


Elaine Rippy Roberts, 46, of Hernando, Mississippi, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004. She was a 1976 graduate of Marmaduke High School and employed at Sam's Town.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Roberts of Hernando; parents, Gene and Loreda Rippy of Marmaduke; sister and brother-in-law, Nelda and J.T. Hicks of Paragould; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Julie Rippy of Paragould; mother-in-law, Sally Roberts of Hernando and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be tonight, 6:00-9:00 PM at Heath Funeral Home. Funeral services, 11:00 AM, Saturday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with burial following at New Liberty Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Emma Lee Lewis



Emma Lee Lewis, 72, of Paragould died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 at her residence.

Born in Lafe, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include a brother, Tony Wright of Paragould; and three sisters, Katherine Resinger of Crystal City, Mo., and Farra Washam and Faye Tomlinson, both of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lewis; her parents, Troy W. and Arizona Miller Wright; and one brother.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday in Ozark Memorial Gardens in Rolla, Mo., with the Rev. Bill Snow officiating. Heath Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

No visitation is planned.

Tony Mack Bolton



Tony Mack Bolton Sr., 47, of Paragould died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004 at his residence.

Born in Aurora, Ill., he worked as a tool and die maker at Natco in Rector.

Survivors include a son, Tony Mack Bolton Jr. of Paragould; a daughter, Amber Nicole Bolton of Paragould; his father and stepmother, Dale and Pat Bolton of Paragould; two brothers, Scott Bolton of Houston, Texas, and Mark Bolton of Joliet, Ill.; and a sister, Krystal Bolton of Arkadelphia.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jason Bolton, and his mother, Melba June Owens Yarbro.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with Dewight Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Larry DeWayne Wilhite



Larry Dewayne Wilhite, 59, of Paragould, died Saturday, November 13, 2004, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born on June 22, 1945, in Paragould, was an employee at Emerson Electric and a member of the Paragould Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Wilhite of the home; two sons, Christopher and Scotty Wilhite; one daughter, Charity Rollings, all of Paragould; two brothers, Jimmy Wilhite of Paragould and Lonnie Wilhite of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Wilhite was preceded in death by his parents, Garnet and Imogene Wilhite.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Duane Dutka officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Wilma Lurvene Copeland



Wilma Lurvene Copeland, 71 of Paragould, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

She was born May 17, 1933 in Greene County, Arkansas. Mrs. Copeland was a member of the Sunlight Baptist Church, a homemaker and seamstress.

Survivors include her husband, Jackie Copeland of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Jim Hudson of Paragould; two brothers, Leonard Boozer and Louie Boozer both of Paragould; two grandsons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Yvette Hudson and Josh Hudson; two great grandchildren, Jordan and Jadan Hudson, all of Paragould.

Mrs. Copeland was preceded in death by her parents, Ovel and Mary Boozer.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Abanathy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation was Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hudson, Dewayne Witcher, Jerry Richardson, Gary Keith Boozer, Gary Boozer, Jr. and David Stovall.

William Bradly (Brad) Dawson



William Bradly (Brad) Dawson, 19 of Rogers, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2004 near Rogers. Brad was born October 22, 1985 in Paragould, Arkansas. He worked as an attendant and working on a management position for Murphy USA. He was a 2004 graduate from Rogers High School, he was a member of the Benton County Youth Shooting Team, he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in the Praise and Worship for Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He attended First Assembly of God Church in Springdale. He is preceded in death by his brother Chad Michael Dawson.

Brad is survived by his parents Rick and Melinda Dawson of Rogers; Victoria and Gary Mealer of Paragould, AR; his brother Cody Wilcox and sister Kayla Mealer both of Paragould; grandparents Leroy and Ellere Johnston and Van Pierce of Paragould and Margaret Dawson of Monette, AR.

Visitation will be 6-8 today at the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, 1000 N. Gutensohn, Springdale.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Southside Community Church in Paragould with Rev. Charles Stoddard and Brother Marion Gramling. Visitation will be 6-9 Wednesday at the church. Burial in the Finch Cemetery near Paragould. Arrangements by Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.

John Andrew Hestand, Jr.



John Andrew Hestand, Jr., 78, of Paragould died Sunday, November 14, 2004 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was a WWII, Army veteran. He retired from Ed White Shoe Factory after twenty five years as office manager.

John was born on October 15, 1926 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was a Baptist deacon for more than fifty-four years and a charter member of West View Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Eula Faye Hestand; sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Michelle Hestand, Barry and Leigh Ann Hestand of Paragould; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Johnny Thurman of Paragould, Carla and Doran Gregory of Oakland City, Indiana; brothers, Roy Hestand of Red Field, Arkansas, Harry Hestand of Bryant; sister, Mary Ann McCaskill of Pine Bluff; nine grandchildren, Andrea, Jessica, Allison and Tyler Hestand, Laura and Josh Thurman of Paragould and Carletta, Patricia and Dawn Gregory of Oakland City, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Andrew Sr., and Blanche (Hardister) Hestand and sister, Ollie Josephine Hestand.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM today at West View Baptist Church with Reverends Gary Fulton, Ledell Bailey and Doran Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Fred Rutledge, Mike Gaskill, Mike Rowland, Doug Wigginton, Dennis Gregory and Larry Davis. Honorary Pallbearers: Deacons of West View Baptist Church and Men of Adult II Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to West View Baptist Church Building Fund.

Ronny Arnold



Ronny Arnold, 58, Paragould, died Sunday, November 14th, 2004 at his residence. He was a disabled Vietnam veteran. Local survivors include his stepfather, John Bailey; one son, Wayne Anthony Arnold; two half-brothers, Ricky and Randy Bailey; one half-sister, Patricia Sanders; and daughter, Tammy Elliott of Michigan. Funeral services will be private, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Marvin Odes Clark, Jr.



Marvin Odes Clark, Jr., 70, of Beech Grove, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004. Born in Greene County, he was a retired Principal and Teacher at Stanford School district and a member of Commissary Church Of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Randolph and Hazel (Orick) Clark; grandson, Christopher Michael Clark; sisters, Helen Geneva Clark, Lewanna Clark and Lillian Fay Pogue; brothers, Sherman and William Ray Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Annette (Felts) Clark of Beech Grove; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Brenda Clark of Beech Grove and Ricky and Teresa Clark of Paragould; sisters, Virginia and Dot Rowe of Beech Grove and Una Payne of Dallas, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 P.M. today at Heath Funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Phil Wilkerson and Darrell Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Morrow Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nephews.

Marie L. Ivy



Marie L. Ivy, 90, of Light, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born August 24, 1914, in Randolph County, Arkansas, Mrs. Ivy was a retired Greene County Tech teacher and a homemaker. She was a member of the Light Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, James Edward Ivy, Jr. of Walnut Ridge; three daughters, Mary Ann Ballard of Light, Jo Ziegler of Kansas City, Missouri, and Betty Cupp of Paragould; and four sisters, Lucy Ellis of Maynard, Caroline Ellis of Light, Ola Mae Orsburn of San Antonio, Texas and Wanda Ruth Long of Pocahontas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Cindi Ballard, Patrick Ballard, Tina Marie Gadwood, Kim Blanchard, Crystal Ivy, Ashley Weaver, Marie Henfling and Charlton Cupp; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Ivy, Sr.; one brother, Ceral Stone; two sisters, Rhema Eskridge and Maxine Cupp and by one infant grandchild, Jammie Charles Cupp.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m., today at Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the Light Baptist Church with David Stone and Raymond Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

Verna Harvey



Verna Harvey, 93 of Bridgeton, MO, passed away November 18, 2004 . Dear wife of the late Harry Wadley; mother of Wilma Colvin (David), Marcus Wadley, Betty Dismang, Terry Wadley (Karen), Maida Ohmes (Donald), Phyliss Lunsford, and the late William Wadley (wife, Winona Olson surviving); sister of J.W. (Bud) Long, Viola Couch, Velma Haddock, and the late Marvin, Virgil, Tommy, Carl, and Dwight Long and Erma Coppock; grandmother of 20, great-grandmother of 19, great-great-grandmother of 2.

Our dear sister-in-law aunt cousin and friend.

She was a member of Silver Threads (First Baptist Church St. Peters). The family is being served by the Baue Funeral and Memorial Center 3950 West Clay, St. Charles MO. Visitation Sunday, November 21, 2004 2:00-7:00 P.M.

Funeral service 11:30 A.M. Monday in the chapel.

Interment 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Linwood City Cemetery Paragould Arkansas.

Julia Marie Deems


Julia Marie Deems, 71, of Paragould died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at her residence.

She lived most of her life in Jonesboro. She was a retired teacher having taught for 34 years, mostly at Valley View, and was a graduate of Greene County Tech and Arkansas State University. She was a member of First Baptist Church at Paragould and camp director at Mount Zion Baptist Camp for girls for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Larene Vasarhely of Parker, Ariz., and Julia Ann Jenkins of Jonesboro; three brothers, Charles Dunham of Smackover, Winfred Dunham Jr. of Montgomery, Ala., and Wayne Dunham of Bolivar, Mo.; five sisters, Wilma Hughey of West Memphis, Anna Sparkman of Rock Island, Ill., Vera Mitchell and Ruth Terrebonne, both of Paragould, and Loeta Friend of Bolivar; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Nellie Marie Holland Dunham, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Scott Neathery officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Outreach Ministry.

Jessie Pauline Beadles



Jessie Pauline Beadles, 94, of Paragould, died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Paragould Nursing Center.

Mrs. Beadles was born November 20, 1910 in Alamo, Tennessee. Mrs. Beadles was a former employee of the Missouri Pacific Credit Union, member of the First Church of God where she was in missionary service for seventy years.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, George R. and Eileen Beadles; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Cloyce Gibson all of Paragould; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Willie Riggsbee; her husband, Robert Plase Beadles; one son, Gene Edward Beadles; three sisters, Anna Lou Brannon, Lura Briggs, and Roberta Newberry Breckenridge; and by one grandchild, Johnothan Beadles.

The funeral service was conducted Monday, November 21, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Maurice Hurd and Larry McFadden officiating. Burial was in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Chris Rogers, Farrell Gibson, Jason Crossno, Alan Rogers, Leonard Nelson and Noel Jetton.

Marjorie Faye Branch


Marjorie Faye Branch, 82, of Paragould died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 at her home. She was born in Weister, Okla., was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

Surviving are her husband, Wilbert Branch of the home; one son, James Dyer of Paragould; two daughters, Freida Hiler of Madras, Ore., and Phyllis Adams of Wasco, Calif.; one brother, Carl Gordon of Atoka, Okla.; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elgie and May Yester Gordon, and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Brown's Chapel Cemetery at Paragould, with Bill Snow officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Visitation will be from noon until 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dora Enid (Steele) Crofford


Mrs. Dora Enid (Steele) Crofford, 89, died Sunday, November 21, 2004, in Jonesboro. She was born November 4, 1915 in Delaplaine. A life long resident of Delaplaine, and graduate of Walnut Ridge High School, she was a factory worker with 13 years at Ed White Shoe Factory of Paragould, and 18 years with TRW Cinch Connectors of Pocahontas. Mrs. Crofford was a member of the Delaplaine Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Anthony Crofford; her parents, Martha Malissie (Andis) Steele and Benjamin (Frank) Franklin Steele; and two brothers-Everett Faye Steele of Delaplaine and Ernest Arnold Steele of Peach Orchard. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould, with Reverend Johnny Niswonger officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., today, at Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens, Paragould.

Deanna Stevens Lee


Deanna Stevens Lee, 63, of Paragould died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was employed with Emerson Electric Company. She was born in Paragould the daughter of the late Milo Clyde and Ola Blondale Anderson Stevens. She was a member of Third Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Rodney Dewayne and Tappie Lee of Mountain Home, Arkansas; daughters and son-in-law, Sherry and Britt McFarland of Lafe, Joyce Anne Vickers and Denise LaRae Lee of Paragould; seven grandchildren; brothers, Ronnie W. Stevens of Paragould, Darrell C. Stevens of Trenton, Tennessee and Gary Don Anderson of Paragould; sister, Patricia Lynn Latham of Moorehead City, North Carolina; a long time companion, Glen Davis of Paragould.

Visitation will be 12:30-2:00 PM Wednesday at Heath Funeral Home with a graveside service immediately following at Fairview Cemetery with Reverend Bob Lee officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Walker, Daniel Massey, Shannon Blevins, Woody Laxton, Steve Davis, Jack White.

James Leon "Jasper" Morgan


James Leon "Jasper" Morgan, 40, of Lutz, Florida, formerly of Paragould, died Saturday, November 20, 2004, at University Community Hospital, Tampa, Florida.

Born October 31, 1964, in Paragould, he was a construction worker.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Morgan of Paragould; a companion, Joan Winburn of Lutz, Florida; one brother, Wesley Duke Camp of Clay City, Indiana; three sisters, Nola Morgan and Rosie Allison, both of Paragould, and Julia Staub of Round Rock, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Morgan; and by one brother, Jimmy Camp.

Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Thursday, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Paragould. Funeral services will be 10:30 Friday morning, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Laverna M. Cline



Laverna M. Cline, 89, of Paragould, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004  at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

She was born in Marmaduke and was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Surviving are one son, Hugh Cline of Eustis, Fla.; one daughter, Janet Evancik of Paragould; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Anon Cline; one son, Bobby Cline; her parents, David Thomas and Anna Lee Clark Menser, and a half-brother.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Larry Galen Higgins

Larry Galen Higgins, 61, of Leesburg died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Paragould, he was a truck driver.

Survivors include a son, Brandon Lee Higgins of Leesburg; a daughter, Angela Johnston of Freeport, Ill.; three sisters, Vickie Glodo, Pauline Ward and Thomazine Northrup, all of Rockford, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugie Dallas Higgins and Jessie Hollafield Higgins.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today in Shiloh Cemetery at Paragould, under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas.

Gloria Imogene Rickard



Gloria Imogene Rickard, 68, of Paragould, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born July 12, 1936, in La Plata, Missouri, Mrs. Rickard was a homemaker and a member of the 7th and Mueller Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, R.L. Rickard of the home; her mother, Evelyn Gilliland of Paragould; two sons, Kevin Rickard of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bobby Rickard of Bentonville, Arkansas; and one daughter, Heidi Shenep of Proctor, Arkansas. She is also survived by two brothers, Nelson Gilliland of Paragould, Donnie Gilliland of Jonesboro; and by six grandchildren, Amanda Rogers, Craig Wheat, Kennedy Rickard, Parker Rickard, Raechel Rickard, and Olivia Rickard.

Mrs. Rickard was preceded in death by her father, W.N. Gilliland.

Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 this evening.

Alvia Rebecca Fowler White

 

Alvia White, 93, died November 24, 2004 at Cedar Valley Health Center, Raytown, Missouri. She was born to Lee Albert Walker and Josie Pearl Walker on January 14, 1911 in Paragould, Arkansas.

Alvia is survived by a son Dan E. Fowler, Kansas City, Missouri and a daughter Jettia Mai Jewett, Copaigia, New York. Five grandchildren, Five great grandchildren and Four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters.

Alvia is to be cremated with no services. Arrangements Heartland Cremation and Burial Society.

Mary Agnes (Okle) Goebel



Mary Agnes (Okle) Goebel, 92, of Paragould, died Thursday, November 25, 2004, at Greene Acres Nursing Home. She was born September 3, 1912, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles and Minnie Myrtle (Hill) Okle, her husband, Leonard Goebel, brother, James Okle, grandsons, Rich Laramore and Bradley Williams and granddaughter, Juanita Smith.

Survivors include her brother Charles Okle, Pine Bluff; seven daughters: Mary Agnes Ligon, Little Rock, Ida Smith, N. Little Rock, Jo Lampkins, Paragould, Phyllis Ann Laramore, Plano, Texas, Helen Rogers, Cabot; Jeanne Morris, Silerton, Tennessee; Martha Williams, Paragould; and four sons: Larry Goebel, Lafe; Adrian Goebel, Terre Haute, Indiana, Leon Maxwell, Mount Vernon, Arkansas, and David Goebel, Paragould, 21 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Rosary service will be Sunday 6:00 P.M., followed by visitation until 9:00 at Heath Funeral Home, Paragould. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, November 29th 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paragould with Reverend John Marconi officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Pallbearers are grandsons: Matt Smith, Mark Smith, Joseph Lampkins, Andre' Laramore, Teddy Maxwell, Doug Maxwell, Lane Diffee, and Greg Diffee.

Etta Lorraine Hope Fielder



Etta Lorraine Hope Fielder, 78, of Paragould, died Friday, November 26, 2004, at the Greene Acres Nursing Home. Mrs. Fielder was a former longtime resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, and was born July 2, 1926, in Haynes, Arkansas.

Mrs. Fielder was a graduate of the Laura Conner High School in Augusta, Arkansas, the class of 1945. She at one time was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She retired from the Little Rock Public School Administration Office where she was the receptionist and PBX operator. She was a member of the Arkansas Educational Teachers Association. She moved to Paragould in 1990 and was a faith member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church where she was a dedicated member of the Chancel Choir. Her sweet smile was special to all who knew her. She was married to her husband, Kenneth Fielder, on July 6, 1946.

Survivors include: her husband: Kenneth Fielder of Paragould, one brother: Morris Hope and his wife Joan Hope of La Porte, Indiana, two sisters: Doris Hobson and her husband James Hobson and Betty H. Hill, all of West Helena, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Fielder was preceded in death by her parents: Franz P. Hope and Jonnie M. Morris Hope.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Chaplain officiating; burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Walcott, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be: Dr. Gerald Fielder, Donald Hill, David Hill, Doug Hendrix, Norman Hope and Mike Crutchfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Mervin Hunter, Dean May, Jerry Smith, Bill Beasley, UMM at Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Fay Childress Finch Newman



Fay Childress Finch Newman, 93, of St. James, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 at her residence.

Born at Denton, she lived most of her life in Leachville and lived at St. James for 12 years. She was a retired caregiver and a member of Union Band General Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, John Raymond Finch Retzer of Ellisville, Mo.; two daughters, Barbara Ann Finch Retzer of St. James and Wanda Lee Finch Souder of Paducah, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Newman; her parents, Robert and Beulah Filed Childress; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Gregg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Tribble officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery at Paragould.

Pallbearers will include Bobby Souder, Ricky Souder, Rodney Souder, Dale Grimm, Doug Finch and Ray Barger

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Farrell Elizabeth (Taylor) Davidson



Farrell Elizabeth Davidson, 79, of Rector died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born August 12, 1925 in Paragould, she was a homemaker and member of Evangelical Methodist Church in the Hargrave Corner community.

Survivors include two sons, Edward Lawrence Davidson III of Bartlett, Tenn., and Ronnie Gene Davidson of Horn Lake, Miss.; two daughters, Elaine Wright of Piggott and Dianne Midkiff of Rector; one brother, Edward James Carson of Augusta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lawrence Davidson Jr.; her father, Elmer Jack Taylor; her mother, Fannie McKelvey Taylor Carson, and her stepmother, Lorene Taylor.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Freddie Barker officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery at Paragould.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Herbert Leonard Grimes



Herbert Leonard "Pete" Grimes, 87, of Walnut Ridge, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 at the Walnut Ridge Convalescent Center.

A native of Arkansas, was a self-employed mechanic and member of the Mountain Home Church of Christ.

Surviving are two sons, Ernie Grimes and Doyle Grimes, both of Paragould; one daughter, Polly Dollar of Memphis; a sister, Mildred Wells of Peoria, Ill.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Burkhammer Grimes; his parents, Melvin and Rachel Grimes, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel in Paragould. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Paragould.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Clinton Cox

James Clinton Cox, 69, of Paragould, died Monday, November 29, 2004, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born November 17, 1935, in Schugtown, Mr. Cox was a member of the River of Life Church. He retired from Emerson Electric, was a farmer and former owner of Cox Hydraulics Shop.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Cox; four sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Regina Cox, Keith and Kim Cox, Tim and Terrie Cox, all of Paragould, and Jeff and Holly Cox of Marmaduke. He is also survived by one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Tommy and Kim Covington of Paragould; three stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Jean and Bill Morrow of Light, Patty and Larry Greer of Little Rock, Debbie and Dexter Smith of Paragould; twenty-one grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maida Cox; his parents, Edgar and Dean Cox; one brother, Lloyd Cox; and sister, Glenda Beaton.

The funeral services will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Floyd Ryles officiating. Burial will follow in Clark's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today at the Mitchell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chad Reed, Tommy Covington, Rodney Cox, Keith Cox, Tim Cox and Jeff Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Godfrey and Derek Godfrey.

Wilma Hearn Lehmann

 

Wilma Hearn "Bye Bye" Lehmann, 62, of Paragould died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at her residence.

Born November 15, 1942, in Helena, Arkansas. The daughter of Ada Irene Smith Hearn and the late Lawrence Ross Hearn, she was a certified nursing assistant at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro and a member of First Baptist Church of Paragould.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Ervin of Lonoke and Steven Turnage of Beebe; two daughters, Mary Wilburn of Griffithville and Stacey Rollins of Paragould; her mother, Ada Irene Smith Hearn; four brothers, Lawrence Hearn Jr. of Heber Springs, Henry Hearn of Etowah, Tenn., Richard Hearn of Des Arc and Bobby Hearn of Carrollton, Ill.; two sisters, Edith Eans of Des Arc and Dorothy Williams of Paragould; eight grandchildren, Ashley Castleberry, Laura Castleberry, Trevor Mafnas, Tori Mafnas, Zachary Rollins and Matthew Rollins, all of Paragould, Leigh Ervin of Lonoke and Josiah Turnage of Beebe; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Ross Hearn.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Ryles officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Jake Eans, Ben Eans, Allen Eans, Paul Hearn, Ron Mafnas and Charlie Parks.

Charles Dwight Lentz

 

Charles Dwight Lentz, 74, of Marmaduke died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born August 25, 1930, at McAllen, Texas, he was a retired farmer and businessman. He was a member of Marmaduke Church of Christ, where he served as an elder.

Survivors include his wife, Freda Lentz of Marmaduke; three daughters, Venda Hoggard of Paragould, Charlene Maleare of Mountain Home and Arlene Newsom of Marmaduke; two sisters, Vendetta Carlile and Pauletta Ellington, both of Paragould; six grandchildren and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirk and Gertrude Jefford Lentz, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with Albert Gardner and Arvil Hill officiating. Burial will be in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery at Marmaduke.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Randal Edward Waldrum, 67, of Paragould, who died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel.

The Rev. Charles Stoddard will officiate, and burial will follow in Finch Cemetery.

Born in Paragould, he was a retired truck driver and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Waldrum of the home; three sons, Rusty Waldrum, Randy Waldrum and Todd Waldrum, all of Paragould; two stepsons, Bobby Craine of Olive Branch, Miss., and Joey Craine of Paragould; a stepdaughter, Tanisha Simmons of Paragould; two sisters, Joella Gibbs and Almeria Reddick, both of Paragould; three grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Waldrum; his parents, James Hillis and Mary Victoria Hester Waldrum, and two sisters.

Warren C. Wilcox

Warren C. Wilcox, 84, of Paragould died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born on November 9, 1920, the son of the late Edgar and Mary Frances Jones Wilcox. He was a retired NAPA Auto Parts Dealer, WWII Navy Veteran, and member of First Baptist Church in Paragould.


Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathryn Wright Wilcox of Paragould; three sons, Louis Joseph Puricelli of Denton, Texas, Thomas Warren Wilcox of Corning and William Edgar Wilcox of McDougal; one daughter, Betty Sue Vails of Dexter, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Barbara Arnold and Sharon Walton, both of Paragould, and Kathy Winberry of Piggott; two brothers, Ray Wilcox of Arkadelphia and Jim Wilcox of Branson, Mo.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mary Frances Jones Wilcox.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Neathery officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Alvin Arnold, Larry Winberry, Nicki Arnold, Mike Wilcox, Tommy Wilcox and Harley Vails.

Jan (Betty) Monroe



Jan "Betty" Monroe, 49, of Paragould died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.

Born in Hobbs, N.M., she was a 1973 graduate of Greene County Tech High School, a former owner and operator of Nailnique Nail Salon and a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, George Monroe of Paragould; two sons, Mitchel Porter of the home and Jonathan Monroe of Jonesboro; and two sisters, Brenda Ray and Frankie Babcock, both of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E.A. and Maurine Sanders.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, with Eddie Gene Wright and M.E. Prince officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lanny Edgin, Rick Mann, Dennis White, Rex Blackwood, Bobby Wells, Joe Williams, Gary Prince and Eugene Prince.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
